As much as she loved her husband, the goddess had her own vanity to impress. She was loyal to Tlaloc, yes - but that did not mean that he was going to win. He did not need to know that, though. Of course, darling she murmured, a small smile on her lips as she stroked his head. And yes, a form of entertainment so long as it doesn't jeopardize the end.
Zy closed her eyes, taking a deep breath to calm herself. Her own little temper wasn't often inflamed but truth be told Rafael always knew what buttons to press to ignite it. "I am not rejecting my culture, Fifi." Yes, she went there. "I wish to make my own traditions, follow my own path." Already by accepting Chalchiuhtlicue she was, which was a start..."I am not better than my mother. I'm different."
Such things for a ten year old to be worried about. Love and marriage and family. Unfortunately, that was the way things went. "Why can I just not be myself?" The girl wilted a bit, hugging her book tighter to her chest.

The god made a grunt of assent at that. No, no, only for the advantage... And he had full intention of winning. He just needed to kick his prophet in line and he was sure the boy would excel.
He bristled at the nickname like he always did, although at least it let him know he was getting to her. Unfortunately, he also found himself listening to her, and he was reminded of the voice within his head. The boy frowned with clear disapproval, even when his childhood friend seemed to be relenting some. A snort- women.
"You can be whomever you want." Rafael told her eventually. He was in no position to tell her what she had to be, even if he was technically her betrothed. "I never said you could not be. You'll just have plenty of friends, I'm sure, but no husband. No matter what anyone says, you are more likely to do what you want anyway." He rolled onto his feet, reminding himself again that perhaps his money would be best spent on a pair of sandals. "Come. Let's get you home." Count: 2202

But you'll always look down on me for it.
The girl pushed herself off the bench, reaching out to grab the rest of her books. "I can get home myself," she mumbled, "Thank you for your help." She didn't need him to take her home like she was some...some child! Just because he was older than her and her betrothed didn't mean she needed him. She didn't need anyone.
This was a stupid idea, whoever you are. I was stupid to do this. I want to quit.
I am sorry, conetl. I'm afraid you can't do that. You simply must find a reason for doing this, other than for this boy. You care for him.
I do no such thing! Anger flashed in her eyes as she started walking down the street, intent on getting home all by herself.
Maybe you just don't know it yet. Chalchiuhtlicue smirked, giving a glance to her husband. This will be fun, Tlaloc.
