Pocket Lint watched as Yazmina got onto her own feet. She had to crane her neck up uncomfortably to look at the tall mare. Flinching back, she was caught off-guard seeing the wings fan out. The foal looked around, before shaking her head. She had no clue where she had came from. Shyly, the foal crept under the legs of the mare to hide underneath her.

That was ...definitely new. She'd not had anyone--any foal, obviously--do that before. Certainly she was tall enough to be hidden under, especially for such a little filly. And if there'd been a danger in the clearing, it did make sense given a moment's thought that under her would be safer than simply standing undefended in the open.

No, the most curious part wasn't that the foal chose to stand under her. It was the sudden rush of protectiveness that flooded through Yazmina. It was her responsibility to see the Pocket Lint back to her family. She would have to defend her if anything bad did happen--and she would, with everything she had. The strength of that conviction surprised her, yes, but it also felt right.

She lowered her head a little and lowered her voice, saying, "Not to worry, little one. We'll get you home soon." Then she lifted her head again and started walking. "We'll try this way." But she didn't move quickly. She wouldn't leave the filly behind.

Pocket Lint didn't have any clear reason for wanting to be under the larger mare. She just liked the feeling of being safe. Since she could trust the mare enough to protect her, she was willing to break the distance that set them apart. She was naive to the dangers of the world, and if there was a fear for the danger, it was accelerated to a level higher than needed. Her nostrils flared out a bit, sniffing around.

The foal watched as the mare lowered her head. She nodded her head in understanding and started walking after the mare, walking to the larger mare's pace even if it was a quicker pace. She also made sure to stay out of the mare's walking path, not wanting her to trip, thus falling on herself.

Yazmina was likewise careful not to step on the little filly as she made her way to the edge of the clearing and then moved on. Her ears swiveled constantly as she did her best to pay attention to everything at once.

"I was lost once," she said conversationally as they walked. "When I was little, like you. I was testing out my wings and I ran off flapping to see how far I could go. Only I didn't pay attention to how far I ran and when I stopped, I couldn't see my mother at all."

Pocket Lint sniffed around, trying to see if she remembered anything by scent, but didn't smell anything familar yet. Her ears swiveled around on her head as well, listening to their surroundings. She was mainly focused on listening to the mare, rather than any dangers that may be around.

Her pale blue eyes looked up curiously to the mare, hearing her speak again. She tried to keep on walking as well as look up to the mare, to show that she was listening. She waited for her to finish her story, wondering if she ever found her mother again.

"I was very frightened," she went on, "but eventually she found me. She couldn't decide whether to be angry with me for wandering off or thankful that I hadn't been hurt. I was just happy to be home again. You will be too, I think," she added with a warm smile down at the filly.

Pocket Lint was entralled by the story. The filly nodded her head in agreement, having the same feelings whenever she returned home, but she usually carried the feeling of fear where ever she went. The usdia filly just smiled a bit back to the larger mare. She nodded her head. She would be glad to see her mommy again.

Yazmina hated to admit it to herself, but she'd miss the little filly when she got back home. She may not have said anything, but she was very sweet.

It didn't take too terribly long to find another clearing where there were other Usdia grazing and milling about. Yazmina looked out at them, then down at the filly in her shadow and lowered her head. "Do you think your mother might be out there?"

Pocket Lint watched Yazmina. The filly looked around and thought about it. She peeked out from under Yazmina's legs and looked around, trying to see if she could find her momma. She looked up to Yazmina and shrugged her shoulders.

Yazmina supposed the little filly couldn't properly call out for her mother, so she smiled again and said, "Well, we'll just walk around a while and see who recognizes you. Come on," she encouraged and started off again. Now and then, while they were walking, she would ask, "Excuse me, but have you lost a foal?"

Pocket Lint nodded her head, trying to hurry up and follow after Yazmina. The young filly looked at each of the usdia's faces, not recognizing them. She wondered slightly why they were all short compared to her wind friend. Seeing her mother up ahead, she bounded towards her, wagging her tail.

That was a good sign. Wasn't it? Now Yazmina was the one hurrying to catch up. She didn't call the filly back. If she knew where she was going, Yazmina was quite content to stay behind and let her lead the way.

Pocket Lint managed to take a moment to look back to Yazmina. The foal smiled to the mare. Maybe one day, she'll cross paths with her again.. and maybe when that day comes, she'll feel more comfortable with her. She turned back around and ran off to her mother.
