"Of course!" Polly said. She hadn't even thought NOT to believe! "Lots of strange stuff happens," she summed up with a shrug. "Daddy once had to face a HUGE sea monster that was goin' round and round the island and he beat it up with his bare hands!"
Which was probably a lie, but she didn't care. It was the best story he told! That and the one about the sea monster with lots and lots of teeth!

"Your daddy sounds real strong," said Orli. "I don't think Mom's ever beat up a sea monster." Somehow, Orli couldn't picture her mother beating anything much larger than a person up.
"Where's the place that you live?" she asked, suddenly aware that it had never been covered, just that Polly hadn't been able to visit.

"On an island through a hole in the wall!" Polly said cheerfully.
"Oye! Brat! C'mere!" Tock called. "It's time to eat!"
"Okay! I gotta go, but we can see each other again, okay?" she said as she got to her feet. Food was not something to be passed up in her world.

"Ooooh," said Orli. "Awesome!" She looked in the direction of the gator man and sighed reluctantly.
"If you hafta," she said, "But you should come visit again soon!"
She got to her feet and set off up the beach back to karaoke. Maybe Ranza hadn't even noticed she'd been gone.
