Oblivion is the best game ever because you can do whatever you want whenever you want.

I love this game 'cause I don't HAVE to do the good deeds. I can be as evil as I want basically kill and steal the entire time. twisted

It envelops your life. I've done basically everything there is to do in it, and I still like to try out a new character type every once in a while.
The artwork and graphics are absolutely amazing, and the voice acting, while not always great, keeps you "in" the game (rather than skimming over blocks of text).
It's just so deep: good or evil? Strength, magic, or stealth? Ranged or melee? Human, elf, lizard, or cat? Vampire or normal? And so on...and nonlinear enough to choose any combination freely.
I didn't care for being a vampire. I loved the power, but hated the old-guy face and aversion to sunlight. I love the Shivering Isles (they could have lengthened that up and called it TES V if they wanted to) and some of the bonus content available for the 360. I actually wish I had the PC version and a computer powerful enough to handle it so I could get some of the amazing control that some of you get (I had Morrowind for PC, so I know the joys of the construction set).
The only problem is that you can become to powerful: I once enchanted a set of clothes for 100% chameleon. It's a free ride to the end of the game. Nothing can ever detect you, no matter what you do.
