Professor Veilwood listened to the answer, and nodded accordingly. He was thoughtful about it and his eyes seemingly glowed. Yes, yes. That had all been correct and proper information, a few things missing and lacking, but that was why they had classes. One simply couldn't know everything from the beginning. It just didn't work like that. Instead, people took classes and got taught what they didn't know or needed to know. It was all well and good for things to work like that. Well and good indeed.

"That's quite all right RuiZhi. Your answer was more than efficient," he returned, "And how about the patient? The needle is clean now. Are you just going to go poking it in wherever you please? Or perhaps is there something more?" He gave a small smile, eyes gleaming.

Chancing a glance back up, the youth smiled at the praise, feeling just a little bit better. He had to learn, to be sure, but he still wanted to answer that which was expected of him. RuiZhi considered the patient, trying to think of what was missing although he wasn't certain. Again, a lacking of his own knowledge; he vowed to review procedures after this.

"Disinfecting the area with rubbing alcohol," he offered up uncertainly. "Also, um, f-for the procedure itself, the doctor has to bind the arm or leg, to make the vessels more apparent. Otherwise a few taps should bring it to the surface." He felt downright silly for being so unsure, but that's what the class was for. RuiZhi just wasn't used to not having the answers, not as far as classes went, anyway.

He vaguely remembered the time his mother went to one of the local hospitals for a pain shot. "It depends on the type of injection, too...some react better in different places."

"Good," Professor Veilwood replied softly, smiling gently. "You were correct. First the area must be disinfected. The area bound. The proper area, to find the vein correctly and not risk aggrivating or annoying the patient." He paused and then let that sink in before continuing, "It is also important to make sure you know what you're administering, as well as the dosage and where it is best taken. Any miscalculations could be fatal." He emphasized the deadly word and then looked away a moment, trying to understand what else he could cover.

Thinking of nothing, "Is there anything you're curious about? Any questions... or safety procedures you'd like me to go over? Do not be afraid to ask." He added politely, still the epitome of a concerned teacher.

He reviewed his notes in silence for a time, pondering all that had been discussed and answered. Somewhere, RuiZhi had forgotten the class was Lab Safety, drawing on other items and knowledge and how it all tied in with the basis of the class. He was quietly amazed at Ardanay's ability to do such a thing.

He wanted to ask what happens when things do go wrong...but that was less Lab Safety and more along the lines of Biochemistry and something that couldn't be taught: ethics and morals. It was something to consider, however, and something he'd need to take upon himself to prepare for. After a little more silence, the Chinese youth shook his head. "No, Professor Veilwood. You went over a lot more than I had anticipated." The words were said with respect and a touch of awe; they were not intended in any ill or demeaning manner.

Hesitating just a moment, he added, "If I think of something later...can I come find you?"

Professor Veilwood turned to his makeshift desk and gathered his papers neatly as the other reviewed notes. He was a good kid. A good student. Respectful and appreciative. It was a pleasure to teach him, especially when the other seemed so blissfully attentive. He had to admit, for his first class, it had gone extremely well. He was definitely more than satisfied with the results and he turned back to the Chinese youth as he began to talk.

Smiling gently with his well-known smile, he nodded, "I hope you took a lot from this and that it helps you RuiZhi." He gave a slight wink and gathered his papers in his arms, "You may. My office is always open to my students. Have a pleasant day... Mr. Tai." With a soft expression, he took his leave of the classroom and his first class. It felt good to be able to bring new experiences to these kids. Them who were the future of everything.

Yes. Very good indeed.
