To Lura's gratitude, what ever deity ruled up there in the sky gave the guy a swollen eye and he infact...didn't see her magical feat. She sighed, pouring him the glass of wine, and relaxed for the first time all day. She looked to the clock, only a half hour till she clocked out. She turned to him again and watched as he waved to yet another beat up customer from the back room. After he fliped the middle finger at her customer up came the manager. Jeff was a sterdy man, looked like the kind of guy who'd own a bar. He took one look at Lura and smirked.

"Tending to our new chamP?" Jeff said as he walked by and gave Lura a quick slap on the butt. She jumped insulted but bit her lip and continued to clean glasses. "So you like her?" jeff asked the guy who Lura was speaking to the past few minutes. "She's my favorite." Canis opened one eye and looked up at Jeff obviously annoyed, Lura had to lightly kick him to remind him to keep quiet.

"Whats your name sir?" Lura asked the guy before her. "I'm Lura, since Jeff insists on introducing me," she said as she turne away before Jeff could give her behind another slap. "Please dont' Jeff." she said between clenched teeth.

Derrick rasied an eyebrow at him slapping her butt and smiled. He waved Jeff off and he walked away to tend to the now very happy and drunken customers. He liked Jeff, a business man; no need mixing anything else with that. Well he did mix business and a few of his more sinful pleasures, but hey so did Derrick.

"Derrick since your asking." he said sipping at the wine, then with a sudden urge he gulped it. Picking up the bottle he poured himself a full glass. His swelling began to heal rather quickly. After a few more sipps the swelling in his eye was gone and his nose wasn't as red. Although, his broken rib was still a night away from being one hundred and ten.

"Nice to meet you,Derrick . I suspect you'll be a regular to our back room?" she asked as she watched him drink. She lightly laughed. "Not so fast, you'll get a throbbing headache soon." she said as she discretely frosted a glass she was cleaning and poured herself a glass of champain. It was slow, she was allowed to indulge. "You're a fighter?"

"No actually im a lover." He winked at her and looked around as some of the now drunk patrons left, having had their fill. He got pats on the back as they left and thank you's. Some for the entertainment he provided earlier and others for the drinks. Either way he was well known amongst this crowd. Lookig back at the bartender he smiled wider and sipped from his wine glass. He had to leave soon but he still had some chatting time.

Lura looked at him for a momment in a stuper at his responce, the only thing that saved him from a wild bitchslap was his wink and her recognition to the old song from earth. She smirked as she finished her own drink. "Ah, so those bruises came from love making? With that beaten up customer over there?" she jested as she pointed over to the guy from before. "Really Derrick, you have to have a better excuse."

She watched amused at his expressions, and as each customer left and gave him a thank you goodbye for the drink and what ever he did in the back room. Jeff didn't explain it well to her, only that it was top secret, and what ever she knew she wasn't to mention to any one, even those like Derrick that seem to know what they're talking about.

She wanted to make a witty comment, seeing as Derrick was getting ready to leave...he didn't look like it, but she could sense that was his final destination...but nothing came to mind. "Will you be a regular here?" she asked.

((is there like an appartment complex or a residential hall thread for Lura to stay in? Or does that just come in another thread all together? I want to get her moving out of the bar.))
PostPosted: Fri Jun 06, 2008 12:47 pm

((The sub thread for housing actually.))

Derrick looked in the mirror behind the bartender and saw that his face was finally fully healed. He hated it when it took so long. That other guy was actually kinda tough, well more than human tough anyway. Derrick disagreed with Jeff about the U.H fighting policies he had in place. Though, there was nothing he could do. He gave his face a quick rub and laughed.

"What can i say he likes it rough." Derrick said shrugging. He looked around and smiled, "As long as the pay is good ill stick around." As soon as everyone started betting on him he would stop coming, no need to fight for only a hundred dollars or so. He got that from a paycheck, he only fought when the sakes were high. It would best be said that he was the ultimate underdog. He emptied his third glass of the wine before him ad signaled for her to fill it again. He could move his arm to well because of his rib so he decided to let her do it.

((awesome))

Lura nodded at his responce, he seemed to think it was rather funny, she thought it was stupid. She looked at him, only to notice after inspecting his features that all the wounds on his face were clean gone. "Well the pay's good back there," she said as she paused her work. She didn't mean to gape, but she couldn't believe that he had healed so quickly. She closed her mouth and turned back to her glass as if nothing happened.

"So...you heal?" she asked softly. She discretly looked toward him as she held up her glass and let it frost over a little from her touch. Her face was the look of 'Shh, Jeff doesn't know'. Then she quickly wiped the frost off the glass before Jeff turned to see her.

"Nice," she muttered. "Wish I could do that..." she wasn't sure if that was an ability of his...or if she just imagined the fact that he'd had large wounds on his face that seemed to magicaly heal. If she was imagining it...she'd just given away her secret...and she'd be screwed.

"Yeah i wouldnt fight if i could keep my face pretty." He smiled as he looked into the mirror. He sipped at what would be his final glass of wine before leaving. He looked her over again, if it hadnt been for that rib. Though he was sure it was the wine talking inside his head.

"Dont look so surprised, its a common ability these days. Though the extent is what usually surprises people. I havnt eaten today so that why this rib aint healing as fast as i want." He pulled up his shirt, revealing a very bruised rib cage on the left of body. It could vaguely be seen that the rib nudged the skin a bit then disappeared as the muscle around it firmed up and healed.

Lura didn't believe what she saw, it was if his side were morphing or something. She didn't know if it sickened her or facinated her.

"Well, it's a mighty usefull one at that." She wouldn't mention her voice, that one she knew wasn't as common - neither was her shifting...no one else was forced to shift to the same thing when the moon or sun rose. Let alone go blind. She sighed and turned toward the chef's window.

"Here," she grabbed a sampler plate that sat on the grill, it was ordered just moments before, and the man who ordered it...well he was to drunk to remember to eat it. So there was a fresh hot plate of food waiting to be eaten, she put it in a take away container and handed it to Derrick. "If you need food to fix your rib take these, they're just chicken fingers, cheeze sticks, onion rings and such...but it's food none the less."

She slowly realized just how handsome he was, how his hair fell in his face, the muscled body under his shirt; she shied away and looked to her glass. "If I could heal I wouldn't be so afraid..." even though that wasn't so true, even if she could heal, the mess she almost got into ... almost being raped...she could never heal herself after that. There was no returning from the mental scaring and physical tourment. "But what's a woman to do now a days? Its no better here then when we were on Earth."

Lura turned to the clock, it was shift changing time, she was done. She smiled, putting her work down midway and clocked herself out from the register that sat beside Derrick. She quickly bent down and woke Canis, who's massive form had been sleeping like a rug now woke and walked on all fours to the other side of the counter. Pulling on her leather jacket over her outfit, Lura looked to Derrick again, trying to hide her blush in the shadows behind the bar. "Would I see you again?"

Derrick smiled at her softly, trying to figure it out. "Yeah i think so. Its a small section of town." He looked at her and the dog that came out from behind the counter. It was odd to keep a dog behind the counter, but hell so was it to fight in a basement for money.

"I gotta go to, its a long walk and i live at the glittering waters with a friend." He quickly wolfed down the chicken fingers. He was hungry and the healing process wasnt easing that hunger any. Then he moved on to the onion rings, finishing them even quicker. As he stood up he picked up the box and started eating the cheese sticks, he felt like a pig but it he didnt care. He started heading for the doo when he noticed something. He hair was starting to change colors.

(when i said shift change i didn't mean she was physicaly shifting, not untill like...5 in the morning...and the glittering waters is where you said Lura's appartment was? right? AND Canis is kinda humaniod werewolf right now not dog. [first 2 posts])

Lura's head lifted slightly, "Glittering waters? The Appartment complex? I live there too..." she said almost weakly. She looked at Canis, who's face was now scrunched up in a silent growel as he looked up at Derrick. "SHhhh." she comanded, "he's ok," she pet Canis' head and calmed him. He looked a little confused then gave up and crawled away on bent limbs outside.

Lura laughed when she heard him start barking at the man who was still up the tree. "He's a soft beast.." she said with a smile to Derrick "Canis I mean, he looks tough...but he's all I got. He's my seeing eye dog." She started to follow Derrick out and hit her thigh. "Canis!" she called, he silenced and started for her, slowly standing on his legs and walking hunched over as if human "Good boy."

Derrick looked at the humanoid dog thing and just sighed. He was seeing e everything this day, but hell he could regenerate from death so no point in pointing out the weirdos.

"Yeah i gotta start walking this new curfew is a b***h. Id hate to have to beat a human cop to pulp." He was being serious Derrick wasnt going back to prison for fake charges and bullshit just for being different. Hell he wasn't even registered and for the most part seemed human, no one would be able to tell him apart from any one else. He eyed the dog again noticing her say 'seeing eye' dog.

"Lady your not blind?"

Lura sighed, she hated explaining the seeing eye dog t hing... "Right now I'm not, but my eyes are very sensative to the light produced by suns." she explained. "I can't see in the day... I become blind in UV rays." she didn't know if she should mention the whole physical change but...she'd no reason too...yet.

And she didn't know if a fighter who had nothing to lose would keep her secret.

"So that's my story. What new curfew? The one on us? Damn that starts tonight?" she cussed under her breath. She was glad she didn't let Jeff talk her into taking the night shift. "Why are they doing that though? What strange activity caused this?"

She was interested, she wanted to know what the foolish 'special' humans as she'd like to call them were doing to get other smart ones like her in trouble. She had seen the papers...but she wasn't registered....she was able to pull off being a 'human' in the day, an 'earthling decendant' with nothing special. Just a blind every day girl. Now she guessed she'd have to get registered now hu? Unless Derrick didn't say anything. But she didn't know him well enough to trust him.

((are we enroute to the appartments? Want to pick up there? or continue posting here untill we actually arrive at the appartments?))

{From Derrick's Loft}

Lura was great full for the uneventful evening, many men disappeared into the basement of the bar, and many exited beaten the crap out of. It didn't take long however for a drunk to slowly start to hit on her. Only it took her to long to realize that he wasn't drunk - and that he was the same guy as before.

"Hey little lady. You're gonna come home with me tonight." he said. She had turned from her glasses and looked to him in a brief stuper before she realized who he was.

"I'm sorry sir, but I don't go home with any body." she answered. He looked at her enfuriated.

"Like this time I'm gonna give you a choice?" he stated. She looked worried, he seemed to know something he shouldn't...what was going on? Didn't she scare the s**t out of him a month or so ago?

"Don't make me call Canis on you," she replied. He only looked at her and laughed. It made no sense. And what she also realized, was that it was closing time, her boss had already gone home, and she was locking up tonight.

They were all alone in the bar.

"Don't tell me you believe that got me? I have been watching you all night, Canis didn't come in with you, and you sure as hell haven't been hiding him under the bar this time, I would have heard him. So, do we have a deal? You're coming home with me tonight."

"Sir, i'm sure I said no." she answered. He smiled as he slowly got up. Lura realized that the only thing between her and the man was the bar, and the only two ways to the exit, were over the bar, and out the one exit with which he blocked.

"Oh now? Well, we don't have to go home to my place, how about yours?" he said as he slowly stood in her way of the exit, climbing over the bar looked like a much better idea every step he took toward her. She continued to back away.

"Sir, I'm sure I said no," she repeated. Where was Canis when she needed him?

"Well, arn't you the little impatiant one. You wanna stay here, now? Well I think i'd be happy to jump on in!" he cried as he darted for her just as she started to push herself up over the bar. She screamed as he took her in his arms and pulled her toward him. He had her bent over the bar and had his hands around her waist and up her skirt in seconds. She screamed, she struggled, she cried - but his grubby hands wouldn't leave her be.

"Leave me alone!" she screamed. "SOME ONE HELP ME!" but no one was with in ear shot. She used all her strength go create an ice casing around her body, but the man wasn't drunk this time, he quickly got smart and cracked and broke it. She was voulnerable again.

"Now, you're going to give me everything I want you little whore," he whispered harshly in her ear as she cried, he pushed her hips into the edge of the bar, had her bent over the wooden surface. "I'm gonna have you now and no one's gonna stop me." he said huskily. She sobbed as he started to let his fingers wander about her torso, finding places that she wished were secret. She almost died when she heard the zipper being tugged. "I'm gonna make this slow, and painful...and you're gonna feel every little bit of it!" he said.

Was any one going to help her?
