Hargun Meets Greer and Ambrose:

Hargun sat down in what seemed to be a safe spot in the sand that had just narrowly been out of the seething waves'''' reach. She circled around about, making a basin for her to sit in and whipped out her sketchbook. Scanning the pages for the last time she visited her world of imagination and turned to a page where she had sketched two people''''s heads; apparently that of Timothy and Aubrey''''s (whose had a tounge sticking out and x''''ed eyes.) She didn''''t particularly mean to do it after she realized she had drawn aubrey fairly well, but it was quite important that she did make her look a bit goofy.. to relief her irritation.

Before she could seriously begin to draw, after she had a light contour of the ocean''''s horizon, she felt a trickle on her foot and she leaped from her spot, noticing she had been -very- wrong of where to sit. Hargun squirmed back as quickly as she could, hugging her sketchbook tight as she glared at the water as if it had pulled a very mean prank on her.

Ah yes.. it did tend to worry her that she almost considered the water to be human; and a bully at that. But she watched as the water retreated from the shore, and waited for it to come back in once more before she finally choose to sit down again, brusing off sand from her paper and shirt.

Ambrose had gathered his fencing equipment again and headed out towards the beach. He had never really found so much peace with the beach before coming here.... perhaps it was the fact that he was getting away from the sweltering oppressive heat of the jungle and the overbearing facade of the complex and he could be with his thoughts... or deal with people away from at least the feeling of being watched (even if he really was.)

He drug his barefeet through the sand, having abandoned the sandals altogether. After his discussion with Aubrey the other day, his heart had sunk back down to the pit of his stomach, and he was really feeling quite sorry for himself and everyone else stuck in the same miserable position.

His epee was over his shoulder and he glanced out at the now familiar stretch of sand, wishing that, despite the beauty, that it was the buildings of Amherst, Massachusetts instead.

However, once again, instead of seeing the empty beaches, he saw a lone figure sitting near the water. The bright orangey hair on the diminutive figure, however, was unfamiliar. another new subject...? Ambrose wondered, worried that he might have to break the bad news to yet another person.

Slowly, he shuffled in her general direction.

In a further effort to avoid having to talk to people, Greer had been spending vast amounts of time hunting butterflies. She wasn''''t actually a fan of butterflies, finding them fairly mundane compared to other more interesting bugs, so her current attention to them was a clear delaying tactic. On the plus side, it had begun to give her a grudging respect for the delicate creatures, as they were much harder to catch then her prefered class of subjects. Take her current quarry for example, a male Marpesia iole that had eluded her netting efforts for over an hour. She was so focused on it''''s capture that she didn''''t notice it had led her out of the jungle and on to the beach until it landed on Ambrose''''s head. Damn it.

"Ambrose, don''''t move..."

She flicked her net forward, hoping to scoop the insect off of it''''s perch without whacking her friend in the head. If she was lucky, she could grab the butterfly and flee before he tried to ask her about talking to Ms. Aubrey.

Hargun looked up for a second from her sketchbook and waved at Ambrose heading her way. She was quite wrapped up in her sketch of the ocean''''''''s water even though it wouldnt sit still long enough for her to draw specific waves. So she just improvised and threw in one here and there as much as she could.

"Heya" she said turning back down to her paper to draw a few more waves. It wasn''''''''t long until it dawned on her that the two were here for the artist community as well, then she jumped up and greeted them more thouroughly. "Sorry sorry.. couldn''''''''t take my eyes off the paper." she grinned and waved at Greer as well; not exactly noticing her until now. She was so enthusiastic that she really did not pay any attention to Ambrose''''''''s /specialness/ and simply outstretched her long but thin arm for a shake.

Ambrose observed the rather young girl who had turned an enthusiastic smile to him upon his approach. "No - It''''s fine, really!" He smiled, feeling a bit off-guard by the cheery new face and seeming obliviousness to the features that were so much at the forefront of his own mind.

He stood still, having heard Greer''''s warning, the conflict evident in his mind between greeting this new person and trying to put forth a sunny disposition first before lauding great warnings on her unlike with poor Julian, and freezing for whatever reason Greer called out to him. He hadn''''t turned to face her yet, but knowing her, there might be a great, bloodsucking monstrosity perched on him, and so logic leaned towards the latter as he stood still, swallowing nervously.
"Greer...?" He called back hesitantly, not turning around. "What.... is something on me??"

"Yes... I''''ve got it though..." the net snapped forward, scooping up the butterfly neatly. Unfortunately, the plastic lip that connected netting to handle also smacked Ambrose in the head.

"Eep! Sorry about that!" Reeling her prey in she twisted it quickly, sealing her catch in a pouch of netting. It was only then she noticed the unfamilar girl, and quickly flashed a smile in her direction.

Hargun laughed for a good bit. She whiped a tear from her eye, which was quite usual when she laughed. "You guys must be here for those art scholarships right?" she asked after catching her breath. It seemed like the only explaination since thats what -she- was there for and Timothy as well, but they didn''''t look like they were busy doing artsy stuff.

"Hmm... you must be.. a fur-suitist?" she asked to Ambrose, then looked at Greer and raised an eyebrow, trying her best to identify what she would be, but couldn''''t quite think of anything. "Uhmm.. OH." she smacked her forehead. "Im so retarded... I don''''t even know who you guys are. Gah... stupid. Anyways.." she said and kind of straightened herself up a bit, to look more formal. Frankly, she looked goofy. "I''''m Hargun Aikason... freehand drawer and well.. overall wierd person." she smiled and slumped again.

"OW!" Ambrose exclaimed, as a rogue net smacked up upside the back of his head. His hand went up, rubbing the quickly forming goose-egg knot ruefully as he looked back to see what was so important to get off of him as to leave a welt. when he saw a black with orange and blue butterfly fluttering futiely in the net his eyes narrowed and he gave Greer a look. "That was what was so important?" He looked rather indignant - not really that upset, more than he was questioning her priorities.

Shaking his head he turned to look at the new person, his eyebrows raising. She was certainly cheery... and her initial assumption nearly caused him to smile if it wasn''''t for the fact that he felt sorry for her at the same time. Of course, assuming it was a costume was much more likely than actually seeing him and assuming that those features were real. Meant she was rather level-headed at least. But that made breaking the news to her all the more difficult - both in convincing her and in bringing whatever reason she thought she was here crashing down around her. He gave a small smile, not quite able to summon the same enthusiasm that she had in his response. "Art scholarship? That''''s what you''''re here for?" He queried dumbly, looking to her sketch pad and the admittedly beautiful landscapes. "And I apologize as well... My name is Ambrose... Ambrose Maurlias..." He paused for a moment before extending a furred hand.
ANd.... well... He swallowed, debating whether he had the energy to dissapoint her at the moment. "Kind of..." He winced.

Flinching at his glare, she smiled meekly. "I have been tracking it for more than an hour now..." Pulling a jar out of her small backpack, she slipped the fluttering bit of color inside, broke down her net, and stowed everything back in the pack.

"I am sorry Ambrose. Other than that, how are you doing?"

She raised an eyebrow at Hargun and glanced at her friend, defering to him when it came to breaking the news to new people. "I''''m Greer. Nice to meet you."

"Nice to meetcha, Ambrose and Greer." she smiled sweetly. She raised an eyebrow at them as it appeared they were all exchanging eyebrow lifts. Hers said ''''Uhm why are you both looking at me like Im not from this earth'''' She patted her sketchbook assuringly and held it out invitingly for the two of them to see the litered contents inside. "The /big man/ here is offering them so.. I could really use it to get into a college later on. But I''''ve yet to see or hear from him. The only person I''''ve bumped into that seems to work here is that Dr. Aubrey Lockheart person.."

She looked towards Greer. "Im guessing now that you collect bugs?" she said and pulled open a page in her sketchbook that had a few messy sketches of insects she had seen when entering the labs, riding in the jeep, and just throughout her recent time there. "Youre not... one of those types that lets them die, preserves them, then tacs them to a moldy wall are you?" she asked. That wasn''''t one of her favorite things; seeing dead and/or alive animals on display. Although frequent trips to the zoo for artistic reasons were her only exceptions to this rule.. nay law of hers. But she figured itd be best not to rant anyways.

Make friends with the others here. Itll make your stay alot more exciting. she thoguht to herself, and sat down in her ''''nest'''' and began to draw again, idly muttering to herself every time she messed up on a piece of her work.

Ambrose shook his head and waved off Greer. "Don't worry about it" he tried to laugh it off - it really was rather amusing when thought about it. "I'm glad you got your butterfly. And... to be honest, a butterfly net knocking me on the head is preferable to a lot of the recent events" He winced, that probably meaning a lot more to her than Hargun.

"And Hargun, is it?" He smiled, saying the nae carefully. "Where are you from if you don't mind me asking. That's a rather unique name"

He couldn't help ut snicker at the query to Greer, knowing just how true that his assumption was. He looked over her sketchbook with lifted eyebrows and an approving "Hmm!" "Those are quite good, Hargun." He scratched his head, still rather uncomfortable. "SO... the scholarship... Dr. Moreau offered? For college credit..?" He tried to puzzle together the excuse she had been given, eying the familiar welt on her arm.

"Oh goodness me no!" She shook her head, smiling. "I'm an entomologist and besides, my walls are very clean"

Since Ambrose wasn't saying anything... upsetting... to this new girl, Greer kept her mouth shut about such things as well. She knew that she'd just break the news incorrectly anyway.

Her eyes grew big as she took int the notebook, and she had her own field notebook fished out of her pack and open in a flash. "Those are great! Much better than mine. I only learned for technical recording purposes."

Hargun smiled and rubbed her head blushing. "You think theyre great?" she asked and eyed them. An artist is always their worst critique and she often found herself disliking her pictures. Then she looked to Ambrose again, very confused.

"Dr. Moreau? Whose.. that? The guy that's in charge of the art community thing?" she asked and kinda shrugged. "I guess.. if thats him. Yea for college credit. I still have a little bit of highschool left ahead of me, but a good handful of artists are allowed to get slightly early starts." she nodded to herself excitedly. "Oh Im from Oregon. Well, born their but we move around from time to time so I just say Im from there. Eh.. dunno why my parent's named me it. It's strange but its a really cool name I think."

She never really did worry about her name. It was one of those things everyone tended to gte used to after a while. What really seemed to intrigue her was that the two -possibly- knew who the big man was. But Dr. Moreau didn't sound like an artist's name.. just didn't to her at least. Maybe he just goes by it because he's rich. she thought, then kind of shook it out of her mind.

Turning back to Greer Hargun smiled. "Well its good to hear that. I'm not the biggest fan of bugs, but I think they're important too.. just as much as any other larger or more powerful animal that walks on the earth. And I dunno why but when theyre on those walls theyre just.. ugh."

Ambrose swallowed. The last thing he wanted to do was perpetuate Moreau's lie, and make it sound like it was "okay". He wasn't going to let them beat him or anyone else that they snared into this prison. He... he just wished that someone else was better equipped to break the bad news. the last thing he needed was to be responsible, even indirectly, for someone to .... take it as badly as Julian.

"It is a rather fascinating name" Ambrose admitted. "Moreau...." He scratched the back of his head. "I.. I personally wouldn't call him an artist... though I suppose in a way he might be" his expression darkened. "Although the media that he ... shapes... isn't exactly the most conventional or acceptable ones."

Hearing her talk about school made his heart ache - for her and himself. "I.... I don't know what to tell you, Hargun... I ... You may not have been given the whole story I'm truly afraid. I'm not... sure how useful your stay will be on your college career." He winced. "It certainly isn't goign to be benefitting mine." He finished cryptically, trying to ease her into the subject.

Listening to the two of them talk, Greer unconsciously shook her head. They were in college. Why did the doctor have to run experiments on kids so young?

"Your drawings are wonderful. You're a very talented artist."

She smiled sadly. Poor thing.

"We all came here for different reasons."

Hargun seemed to notice the tid bit of negativity in the air. "So.. Dr. Moreau Im guessing isnt one of your favorite people?" she asked and smiled slightly shrugging. She hadnt met him nor heard a thing about him so she wouldnt know. She then gave Ambrose a sympathetic look. "Aw, comm'on Ambrose.. surely somethings going to benefit from this trip?" she said, kinda not knowing what to say honestly.

"Hmm.. so some of you arent here for the art thing?" she asked a little interested. "Then why did you come here?" she asked, trying to smile sweetly to brighten the mood back a little.

Ambrose shuffled his feet in the sand a bit. "Greer's right... she's was here supposedly competing for a research position collecting insect.... I was here for a medical study. The reason they told me seems to be the most accurate." Ambrose gritted his teeth.

"They told me they were paying 5 Grand for a two week study to test out some experimental therapy drugs. I arrived here a few days past two weeks ago. They're not letting me go. They're not letting any of us go." Ambrose said sternly, his eyes saying that he wasn't joking in the least.

"And I'm willing to bet you, that in a few weeks, Moreau won't be one of your favorite people either."

Putting her notebook away, she put a sympathetic hand on Ambrose's shoulder. "Strange medical things are happening here, and none of them are overly enjoyable. Tell me, what excuse did Ms. Aubrey give you for sticking a needle in your arm?"

As hard as she may have attempted, she couldnt exactly smile as much anymore, and just looked.. out there. She was still trying to tell herself they were here for the samereason she was until she shook her head out of realizing Greer's question.

"Oh.. uhm. Well she was acting wierd and stuff about changing us into animals. Obviously she was joking with her little growling act but eh.. she sounded more serious when she said we were getting injections for preventing diseases here on the island." she said, and looked at the apot on her arm, rubbing it just out of the mental feeling of it being pinched.

Ambrose boggled. "She said that? Turning you into animals?" Ambrose shook his head at the gall to pass off the truth as a joke like that. He swalowed, and scratched at the back of his neck again in his nervous habit. Perhaps this is how he had so easily struck a chord with her the night before.... and it made sense. He thought he had heard the helicopter bringing new arrivals.

"I... I'm afraid that what I'm about to tell you might sound... quite unbelievable, Miss Hargun.... and that it really, really isn't pleasant." He took a breath. "If you don't want to know, now is the time to say it."

Greer visibly flinched at Hargun's account of her introduction to the island. Ms. Aubrey was a ballsy little...something, wasn't she?

"She wasn't joking." she spoke quietly, letting the quality of the girl's hearing determine whether or not she heard her.

Not knowing what to say Hargun kinda stared blankly at them both. She didn't know if she was laughing, crying, smiling, or just trembling. Instead she just fell back and looked up at the sky and Ambrose and Greer. "So... this.. isnt an artist community... Dr Moreau isnt.. the kind wealthy person offering scholarships..." she kept muttering things. She felt as if she was in a book or at least reading one about herself.

But no way could it be true.. or.. could it? She took another good look at Ambrose and finally realized that he wasnt wearing parts of a fursuit. He was definately changing into something in-human. As for Greer, the seriousness of her voice just piled up to the thoughts that raced trhough Hargun's mind at the moment.

She continued.. "and.. and.. that wasnt a vaccine.. was it..?" The welt on her arm seemed to hurt but again only mentally. Hargun sat back up and stared at it. "I.. I think I should go back to my room now..." she said, slowly standing back up, her knees shaking, and her sketchbook firmly in her grasp.

"It.. it was nice meeting you two.." she choked, and stumbled up the beach, darting as quickly as she could to her duplex were she planned to remain for the rest of the afternoon.

Hargun talks with Lauren:

Lauren was wondering around the village aimlessly with her sketchbook. Luckily no one appeared to be around. Usually when she was in a creative mood she locked herself into her room all day and scattered papers all across the floor. Today she wanted to get out and do some sketches of the residences to try to get back into the feel of the way things used to be when she had time to sketch on the street. But without the tall buildings, alleys and traffic it wasn't the same.

Still, she felt she needed to escape from her room and get some fresh air. She sat down next to one of the randomn palm trees decorating the exterior and began to sketch.

Hargun had just finished getting back from washing her clothes at the laundromat. it had been the first time in ages that she had a large clean selection of clothes. It was also the first time she washed them since being here and she had been zipping about all day in her sarong. After stopping at her duplex and throwing the clothes in random places in her room, she grabbed her sketchbook and left.

Opening up to the page where she had been drawing a comical face shot of Moreau, she started to doodle a scribble an angry looking Dude smacking him with a flipper. After passing a few duplexes, she noticed Lauren sitting next to the tree. Figuring it would be too late for her to hide, Hargun simply froze, and hoped Lauren wouldn't come over and beat the snot out of her.

Lauren looked up noticing the younger girl that was in the bar the other day looking deathly pale in her direction. She quickly shut her sketchbook and hid it underneath where she sat.

"Hey. No reason to be freaked, I don't bite unless you give me a reason." She smiled towards the red heads direction. She looked so innocent and naive.

Hargun smiled uneasily. "Heh.." she said and slowly walked over to Lauren. Trying to spark conversation, she gave a curious look. "What was that you were just drawing in?" she asked and sat down next to her, slowly opening up her sketchbook to talk and draw at the same time.

Okay.. she.. she seems alright.. but.. that incident the other night... she works for Moreau.. she thought to herself.

She had to ask about my sketchbook Lauren thought loudly as she glared at Hargun. "Uh, nothing really, it's kind of personal. I'm not an artist, I just like to draw out my life in comic form." She was not an artist, that was true but that didn't mean that she couldn't draw.

"So, you're new here. What was your name again?" She couldn't remember for the life of her with all of the drama swirling around her head the past couple of days.

EEK. Okay.. red flag.. dont ask about the book..

"Oh Im Hargun." she said smiling. "Finally someone else that draws.." she blurted out. "Well.. er.. I mean someone who isnt here for something simple.. or medical." she said, obviously not remembering the drama that Lauren had explained to them at the bar.

"So you draw comics?" she said, eyes lighting up. Beyond the landscapes, realism, and all types of other sketching things, Hargun LOVED reading and drawing comics.

"Hargun... odd name. I'm Thorn" She knew that her name was just as odd but at least it wasn't her given name.

Lauren nodded quietly to her question, "Yeah, I love Tank Girl, The Witching, The Sandman, and Kabuki, amoung other odd comic series." She smiled a little bit. "I like to draw my life in comic form, helps clear the junk out of my head. So, you obviously are an artist." She glanced over at what Hargun was drawing on her sketchbook.

"Ya.. more like was" she said gloomily. "Now that Ive found out about what Moreau really wants with us I think my art is kinda useless..." she paused and smiled. "Listen to me.. I sound so angsty. Sorry Im not usually like this." sighing, she turned back a few pages to look at a reference of someone from earlier and flipped back, drawing them into the picture.

"I do this to clear the clunk out my head as well. Usually I draw freaky looking demonic things." she laughed. "I dont look like the kind of person whod vent drawing blood and gore wouldnt you agree?"

Lauren looked sternly at Hargun, "Just because you aren't gonna be rich and famous from your art dosn't mean it's useless. What did you want to do with it anyway?"

Lauren laughed at her next statement. "I have some freaky demon things as well. But mostly my 'style' is odd and dark." She looked at Hargun. "Looks can be deceiving." True she didn't seem like the type to be into blood and gore but Lauren didn't look that way a couple of years ago and still drew the same things and had the same darkness lingering inside. It's just recently the darkness claimed her looks and appearance.

Hargun looked a bit dissapointed. "Actually the reason I wanted to excel in art was to have a career in it; be able to do what I have a passion for doing and live life through it." she stopped drawing and looked up.

"I also wanted to meet other people. Be able to share ideas and all that geeky crap, ya know? Thats why I took up the offer Moreau laid out for us.. pretending this place was an art community. So far though, you and Timothy are the only art-loving folk here.. er.. that Ive met so far." Picking up her pencil again she doodled a quick sketch of her with a cheesy grin and a proud stance. "..all though it would be kinda neat to be famous for it.." she laughed.

"I guess youre right though; looks can be decieving. Hey youre talking to me right now.. so I guess that prooves it." she smiled.

A look of saddness came over Lauren's face. "Sorry your plans have changed but I suppose you will have to try to adapt. There is no other option." Lauren was confused herself to where she stood on this situation after the whole incident at the beach bar a couple days ago. "I had no plans, can't tell you how I feel because I don't know."

She looked over. "Maybe, there will be more artist eventually! There is me, and Timothy I bet there are others and some of the residents or staff could have hidden talents you would never think of!" She was trying to stay on the bright side of things because she hated feeling trapped.

She listened to the last part of what Hargun said wondering what the hell she was talking about. Why wouldn't anyone want to talk to her.

Hargun gave a blank look and started to feel unconfrotable. She didnt want to anger Lauren with their converstaion. Talking about being stuck here for the rest of their lives wasnt exactly a happy subject.

"I hope theres more." she smacked her mouth. "Wait.. that came out a bit wrong.. I.. I dont WANT more people to get stuck out here.. what.. what I meant.." she studdered and burried her face in her sketchbook, scribbling nervously.

I.. am making.. a GORGEOUS impression.. she thought sarcastically to herself.

Lauren smiled. The girl had some potential if she was thinking about there being more on the island before she thought how they would be stuck ON the island. "It's alright, I hope there's more too. Only I hope they want to be here ya know or at least get to wanting to be here." She brought out her sketchbook. "Look, I'll show you some pages of mine if you show me some of yours." She carefully peeked through the pages while closed to find safer subjects. Some things she illustrated were way too personal.

"Ah here." She said as she showed Hargun a couple of pages. On the pages was a figure that looked like Lauren drawn in a very angular tough modern comic style with bold dark lines. Another character was on a different page, it appeared to be Moreau but only he didn't look evil at all. He looked like a genuinly nice guy.

Hargun looked up from her book and tried to smile. "uh.. sure." she said and simply handed over her sketchbook. Looking at the 'nice' looking Moreau she looked curious. "So Thorn.. why dont you seem so hateful of Moreau?" she made a quick moition. "Dont tell me if its too personal." she said smiling sweetly.

The picture Lauren drew seemed to make her feel bad about making Moreau look icky. Just how she did with Aubrey. At first she really didnt like Aubrey but it was for a stupid reason.. she kinda found her to be fairly nice. And even though Moreau pulled off a bit of a hateful image to her, he might be very kind.

"This island is going to drive me out of my mind though.." she thought outloud. "So confusing.. everything thats going on.. and the angst and such. Plus the majority of the people here are obviously older than me.. wiser.. more experienced. Not all of them are but.. yea.. just seems out of balance. Im guessing Moreau wants a good variety. He never explained it directly to me, only the lie about me being here for the art community. At the bar was the first time I heard him actually talk about us changing.."

DAMN there I go again.. talking aimlessly about this island..

Thorn smiled at the question, "Ya know things might be different if I were in your shoes. I didn't have it so well before I got here." She was getting kind of tired of telling everyone that though. She wasn't exactly proud of her being a runaway. "And I geuss he's been a bit more straight up with me, he's even teaching me science right now, but that's top secret alright?" She didn't trust many people but Hargun seemed the type that would keep a secret. "He just kind of seems like the father I never had at times. But it's probably just cause I'm ******** nuts." She laughed nervously at this and then laughed even harder when she saw the evil Moreau.

"Don't worry, I have mixed feelings bout him right now. But I don't think he's the demon everyone puts him out to be. I mean come on, he could have us in cages with s**t for food and water while he does his experiment but no he gives us food, shelter, whatever we want and more." She turned her sketchbook to an empty page. "And he's doing it for all the right reasons. He told me his research could cure many ills including cancer! You know how many people die of cancer all the time?!" She smiled. "If you think about that, we are helping tons of people. Sure we are a few that suffer but think of the millions who will be saved."

She smiled smugly at her young comment. "How young are ya? I'm 16 though I turn 17 in around a month. I kind of know how you feel, I was the kid before you showed up."

"Im 16 too." she smiled. "Just recently turned. Heh.. it feels so great to wear the tiara now.." she laughed.. a stupid joke.

"Hmm. Now that you explain it, Moreau's intentions arent so.. disturbing. And, youre right.. at our suffering, so many more will be saved. So, I guess I really shouldnt think of Moreau as.. evil. Still, Ambrose put up a good argument about how we should have willing people come here. " she sighed again.

"I guess the real issue is the way Moreau tricked me... even if hes got such a brilliant idea. I had dreams." her eyes lit up a little. "Now that I think about it though, so do those that this researching is benefiting to.." by now she seemed to drift off into self conversation, but didnt forget Thorn was there.

She shook her head to stop herself. "Heh.. well it was nice talking with you Thorn. You're awesome.. and keep drawing.. your work is really good." she grinned and stood up with her sketchbook, "Well.. Ive got to go eat.. and pickup a second load of laundry. I'll see yah another time." she said, and started to head off to the cafeteria area, looking back once to wave at Thorn.

"Yeah, he tricked all of us. Does kind of suck but I wonder what exactly we DIDN'T read in those papers we signed." She sighed.

Thorn stayed there waving goodbye. "See ya Hargun, your drawings are WAAY better, you keep at it too." She had no clue Hargun was 16 too. Made her feel kind of bad. But Lauren had been through way more than she ever had which made her seem and feel older than most her age.

She went back to her drawing for the day.

Meeting Amaya (and obviously others):

Amaya sat at one of the many tables in the cafeteria alone, her eyes downcast and staring at the coffee cup between her gloved hands. Her eyes were still somewhat watery and every now and then she would wipe a tear from her cheek that managed to slip out. After having that horrible dream she had scrambled through a shower and slipped on some clothes before darting to grab a cup of coffee. There was no way in hell she was going to sleep again after that.

She twisted the mug back and forth in her palms as she stared at it, not wanting to look up at the horrible bare cafe. She was in duplex 20, right? Meaning their were 20 people here... and not one of them were in the cafeteria? That was kinda weird. Regardless, she really hopped that someone would come in soon... anyone really. Even though she was still slightly crying and their was a snowballs chance in hell she would tell them about her dream, she still would have liked someone to talk to. Amaya wondered where Thorn was or if she was in the health center thing getting her lessons...

Hargun had been having a dreadfully hard time getting to sleep at night lately, her head absolutely not wanting to shut down. She was very exhausted and had a rather fatigued look, her eyes had formed tiny purple rings and she was constantly yawning. Other than that though, she was somehow able to maintain a generally perky mood throughout the days.

Today she decided to get out and chat with her fellow islanders, and hopefully get a bite to eat.. her tummy roaring at her. She left her duplex miracously without her sketchbook and headed very slowly towards the cafeteria. As soon as she entered she didnt even bother to look for a place to sit, until after gathering up a large a** plate of food, and carrying it witha lazy slump. She looked around and spotted a rather unfamiliar face sitting alone at a table.

Yawning, she attempted to wave with one hand, almost dropping her tray. "Heya! Mind... *yawn* if I sit with you?" she asked and tried to lean against the table next to her.

Greer was on a meat mission, a new, icky tasting thing she'd had to get used to since the second injection had made her a carnivore. Striding into the cafeteria full of purpose, she went straight to the food and grabbed two steaks before even thinking to look around for people. Spying the artist Hargun sitting next to someone she didn't know, Greer grinned and sat down at the table.

"Hello Hargun! How are you?"

The young girl blinked and looked up at Hargun, snapped from her daze. She smiled immediantly and nodded, wiping her eyes clean. "Sure! I was kinda hopeing I'd bump into someone else." She went to take a sip of her coffee when the other woman approached with... FEATHERS?! Oh god. What the ********. Amaya stopped in mid-sip just... stareing. No, it was rude to stare. Blink danm you, BLINK!

Before Hargun sat next to Amaya she found the voice of someone she DID recognize, and apon turning to greet Greer.. "Hey Greer- HOLY s**t!" she said, and dropped her plate... luckily on the table.

Rushing to sit down, Hargun scooted up next to the table and got up in Greer's face, staring.. and poking at the sprouted feathers. "Wha... wha.. what the heck happened to you?" she gasped and sat back, looking to Amya and smiled awkwardly then back to Greer. Her appearance kinda woke Hargun up a bit. Picking up one of her rolls she crammed the thing in her mouth without chewing, so suprised by her friend's changes.

Startled, Greer sat perfectly still for Hargun's inspection, smiling shakily when it was over. Spending all her time with Ambrose and the Dude meant she'd somewhat forgotten about how physical her changes were. Oops.

"I'm sorry I startled you Hargun." Gesturing to her feathers, yellowing legs, and meat-filled plate she shrugged. "I got my second injection."

Okay, enough stareing... stop it... stop it. Amaya finally forced herself to blink and shook her head before looking back to Hargun and the bird... woman... thing. "Mmmyeeeah... I think I'm deathly confused and in shock right about now." She set her mug on the table and looked between the red-head and Greer with one eyebrow raised.

Hargun started joking on her roll.. it was obviously going to happen. Finally coughing it back up she stared at Greer with somewhat frightened eyes. "SECOND injection?" She exclaimed. She figured the shot would be a one time thing and wouldnt require a lot of revisiting with Moreau or any of the strange lab assistants here, but if a second injection was comming, it meant she was gonna get one too. Shaking, she tried to eat a spoonfull of mashed taters. "Wow.. you.. youve really changed just from that second shot huh?" attempting to swallow some she started up again. "Oh my god Greer.. what ARE you changing into.. and.. and what else is going to happen..?" she eyed the two giant steaks.

Hargun sighed and yawned at the same time, and put her fork down then turned her head to Amaya. After getting over Greer a second thought shot in her head. I bet she doesnt know.. she MUST be new. MUST be.. she thought and began to furiously attack her food, trying to avoid having to speak further on the subject while they were on it.. about transforming and all.

His fierce red tomcat in tow, the Dude walked into the cafeteria, cigarette in his mouth, hands in his pockets - ya know, the works. He saw Greer, the redheaded girl who drew and whose name he was currently forgetting and a new teenager. This one had dark haired and the cutest nose on the island. So he grinned and walked up to the girls

"Hello, ladies" - he nodded and waved his flipper hand in a greeting.

Meanwhile, Captain Morgan sniffed out the steak that Greer had aquired and decided that htis woman was now his new best friend.

Greer sighed, gulping down half a steak to get her strength up for the lecture ahead. "This entire island is set aside for experiments being conducted on us by our host, Doctor Moreau. The first injection you recieve seems to get your body ready to react to the ones that follow. We're all turning into different animals - my two friends are becoming a wolf and a sea lion, the woman who lives downstairs from me is becoming reptilian, a fellow I met recently is going towards skunk, and I'm becoming a bird of prey, although I'm not entirely sure what species yet. Each injection will change us a little more until... until the Doctor decides we're done, I suppose. Most of the second injections happen while you're sleeping, if that makes you feel any better. No being held down and tortured per se."

Stopping to eat, the other half of her first steak disappeared. THe faster she ate, the less she had to taste.

Turning to the Dude, she blushed a little, smiling and giving Captain Morgan a halting pat. "Hi Dude!"

"OHGOD!" Amaya jumped five feet in the air as the Dude entered, shivers going down her spine. She then listened to everything Greer was saying even though her eyes were now locked on the new arrival. Once she was finished her head slowly turned to look back at Greer. Her shoulders slumped and she sighed, not really being able to really take all of that in. "Well... guess it's my fault for getting tricked into that bullcrap he told me and I'm screwed now." She shivered again, then caught sight of the fluffy feline. "KITTY!" She reached down and tried to usher him over towards her. Ah, distractions. Gotta love 'em.

Hargun rubbed her tired eyes, now a lot more calmed down.. mustve been the overall shock of seeing her friend look a whole lot different.

"Well I knew we were all changing but.. yea like I said, didnt figure it would be such a long strenuous process.. but oh well." noticing the Dude Hargun tried to smile. "Hey Dude!" she didnt pay much attention to Capt. Morgan though.. she didnt like cats. Not much at all.

Hmm.. in my sleep huh.. yea right.. LIKE ILL EVER GET TO SLEEP. she thought to herself, and started chewing at a greasy looking burger she picked up. Burgers, taters, and a roll. What an interesting appetite.

After she took a bite she glanced at Amaya again. "Well, cant say its your fault.. he got me too... crushed my hopes and dreams.. took everything away from me.. BUT HEY, Im here alive and /somewhat/ happy right..?" she asked uneasily.

With a plate bearing a single, if large, rare steak, and a glass of lukewarm iced tea, Cassidy made her way into the dining hall of the cafeteria. Meals had just been so boring, lately.

Fortunately, she'd picked up a little cup of chocolate pudding. She could deal with that.

There seemed to be a lot of people, today, and some of them she didn't even know. Yikes. Cassidy hesitated, her tongue flickering, then approached the table.

"Um. Can I join you?"

The Dude pulled up a chair and sat down by Greer, stretching out his legs. He was not wearing shoes and the oversized feet flopped strangely in the air when he moved.

"Hey Greer" - he winked at her, then grinned charmingly at the blush. Did Greer actually have a thing for him? Nah ... it had to have been the alcohol ...

Turning to Amaya who had just gotten the low down, he listened to her and Hargun. The new teenager seemed to be taking it ... alright. Which was great! Maybe that is why Moreau seemed to be concentrating on teenagers nowdays - they seemed to have less to loose and tolerated the news much better. He let them talk, not wanting to add fuel to the barely smoldering fire.

Captain Morgan tolerated a pat or two from Greer and Amaya and jumped onto the table to investigate the steak business. Unfortunately, by the time he got that far, Greer had eaten it all. Greedy! Disgruntled, he stretched out on the table in front of everybody and gave the humans an evil eye, hoping that would frighten them into feeding him something good.

When Cassidy showed up, the Dude waved at her as well: "Yo! Sure thing." With his right hand he pulled up another chair from a neighboring table.

Using her hunger as an ecuse to hide her reaction to the wink, Greer leapt up, got another steak, and sat back down again. Chopping a fourth of it up into small pieces, she piled them on the table in front of the minature tiger, hoping appeasement would keep him from thinking about eating her cricket again.

"Hello Cassidy! How are you?" She smiled at the newly arrive, partially changed woman, glad to have yet another partial ally. Hargun and Amaya's reactions had been rather... unsettling.

"Well, I didn't really have many dreams or anything back home to begin with... so I guess this doesn't bother me as much as it should." She moved her coffee cup back and forth, not really feeling up to drinking any more of it. "Though what makes me mad is that I was lied to. I mean, that doctor guy creeped me out but I just thought it was that... natural scared of doctors thing." Amaya made a weird hand gesture to emphasis her point. "Thorn lied to me too which makes me kinda mad... but what pisses-"

She visually flinched, catching herself too late. "-... ANGERS me is all this lying stuff. I mean... he couldn't have gotten ALL of you with the lie he told me. Your too old... No offense." She held up a hand to the group who had gathered around the table, but refrained herself from diving into the reason she had been dragged here. There was no reason for the entire party to start pittying her for something that was over and done with. Amaya glanced up at Cassidy then looked away again to keep herself from stareing. They were all probably feeling pretty self-conscience without her gawking. "And... sorry about all the stareing. Couldn't help it." Green eyes went back down to the mug as she twirled it about on the table, looking up at the large fluffy cat every now and then but refusing the urge to grab it and squeeze it like some living security blanket.

Hargun snorted. Too old? she shouted in her head, but just maintained a straight face.

"Ugh.. yea. We've complained about that factor of his actions a lot.. or I have at least. Dont really doubt anyone else here hasnt." she said and shook her head then looked to Cassidy. Because she hadnt met her before the scales and tounge didnt exactly cause her to jump... she was starting to feel guilty for inspecting Greer.. just natural of her to be interested in whats happening to her friends. She waved slightly to the blonde-haired girl and took another bite of her sandwhich, unable to swallow from a chain of yawns following.

"Oh my WORD. Why am I so freaking tired!" she accidentally thought outloud, then glanced around and went back to her food, wiping her face with her napkin and fiddling around the leftovers on the plate with her fork while watching Greer and Capt. Morgan.

Cassidy was already carefully cutting her steak up into bite-sized peieces; she couldn't look up. There was too much shock in the eyes of these two new people--at least, that's what it seemed like to her.

"I miss my family, and my books, and snow. And ice cream." She sighed. "But, really. I don't know what they told you, but I came here for a job. At a hotel. And I was dumb, and believed them, and even when it turned out that there was no hotel, it was all just a... a... a misunderstanding," her mouth twisted, "I let them inject me and settled in just fine."

She took a piece of meat on her fork, popped it in her mouth, chewed two or three times and swallowed it mostly whole. Stupid new teeth.

When Greer arrived with the steaks the Captain was pleased. Finally, a human who knew how to treat him with respect. Greer was added to the very short list of tolerable humans along with the Dude (sometimes) and the lunch lady (oh my love!). He chowed down, growling threateningly to himself as he gorged on meat.

Meanwhile, the Dude was distracted listening to Amaya. Hey, go girl. Now that was a very fatalistic take on the situation. That Moreau guy sure knew whom to pick for his projects. Well, at least he was getting better at it, the Dude corrected himself, remembering Ambrose. Poor guy, he seemed to be the one most screwed over by the situation ... him and Vasile ... but somehow, the Dude wasn't feeling all too sorry for the silver screen siren.

"Well, Amaya, he fed all of us various lies, some better and some worse. It's not hard to lie well to people if you know which buttons to push. And the folks from Feral Labs did their homework on all of us. Well, except me and Emelyn. We are kinda freebies on this island - shipwrecked after a storm. And ya know, one should never give up hope. Life has a way of turning out alright in the end. And ya know ... one adjusts."

He looked at his flippers and smiled back at Amaya: "Like, I get to swim so much better now, ya know? I"m the Dude by the by. That's what people call me. And I am turning into a sea lion" - he introduced himself.

Greer gave Cassidy a sympathetic look and them smiled at the table. "I thought I was coming to be a field entomologist. This was not true, but I've managed to become my own one-woman bug studying team on the island anyway, so it's worked out."

Swallowing the last of her steak, she frowned at the feathers on her hands, speaking to no one in particular. "You don't think my hands will become wings, do you? Cause that would be bad."

Amaya blinked and looked over at Hargun. She was about to say 'then get some sleep' but stopped herself. That was mean and too obvious. She listened to all the stories on how each person had winded up on the island. Jeeze, Moreau was... to put it simply, a dickhead. As she listened to Dude she nodded in complete agreement. "Exactly. This is just one more thing that I'll force myself through. I mean... NOTHING is perfect so their has to be SOME way off the island, right? It'll just take some time and a lot of thinking." She gave a shrug. Be positive. Positive was good.

Amaya smiled at the Dude and nodded to everyone. "Names Amaya, by the way. He raked me in by telling me this was some kinda resort thingy for older orphaned teenagers. When I saw Thorn it didn't exactly make me suspicious if y'know what I mean." She frowned and sat back, her gloved hands idly fiddling with her locket. "So uh..." The young girl wondered for a moment if it was a touchy subject to ask, but Dude seemed open enough about it. "Do you all know what your turning into 'n stuff?"

Hargun looked nervous to what Greer said. What if she too was turning into a bird or something that wouldnt have the use of hands? Then how could she draw? No way.. Moreau's mean but as Lauren said hes somewhat a nice guy.. he wouldnt have given me something winged. Wait.. unless Aubrey.. did... she thought nervously and shook her head.

She sat back and slid her tray foward. She didnt finish everything on there like she thought she would. Looking to Amaya she shrugged. "Id LIKE to know.. desprately. " sighing she smiled slightly to everyone. They were turning out to be pretty interesting creatures, but who knew if shed be the first freaky or odd-like animal.

"I just hope I dont turn into something that will cause conflict among us all." drifting off a bit she laughed to herself. "Maybe Im turning into a sloth.. hence my exhaustion.."

"I haven't asked." Cassidy made a face. "Some sort of snake. I dunno what else has a forked tongue, anyway."

She stared down into her supper. "I really, really, really hate snakes. I wonder if I'm going to be poisonous. And... wings! I don't even know what's going to happen to my arms and legs."

She grimaced. How would she hold up her books?

The Dude turned to Greer: "Hm ... that's a good question. My arms are turning into flippers, just like a sea lion's but it look like I get to keep my thumb and index finger. Maybe if your amrs turn into wings you'll get to keep some of the digets as well?"

She nodded at her friend. "I hope you're right."

Turning to the artist, she spoke. "You know Hargun, you could just be sliding towards nocturnal. Plenty of animals don't come out during the day." Giving the girl a smile and a pat on the hand, Greer stood and bussed her tray. Returning to the table to give them all a smile, the Captain a pat, and the Dude a shy wink.

"Bye all!" She called, striding back to her room to gear up for another exciting day chasing bugs. Despite the feathers, this was the life.

She shuddered at the thought of turning into something she hated. Like a monkey... or something. Though she had to admit their were few animals she didn't like. "I think I'm too much of a chicken to really ask..." Amaya looked back down at her coffee cup and took a sip, cringing as cold liquid touched her lips. With a frown she set her cup back down on the table, feeling incredibly bad for Cassidy. Turning into something you feared? That'd give her nightmares... She looked up once Greer stood and forced a smile before giving a slight wave. "Bye-bye Greer, it was nice meeting you." Her legs started to swing back and forth, barely touching the ground in her chair out of nervous habbit.

Ambrose was just heading towards the cafeteria as he spotted Greer making an exit. He was dressed nicely, wearing some clean long khaki pants and a polo shirt, long since given up trying to hide his features, although his hair was very neatly brushed and slicked back, and even the fur on the backs of his neck, down his jawline, and over his arms seemed shiny and healthy.

He gave her a friendly wave and headed in, and nearly coughed at seeing the cafeteria at the fullest he'd ever seen it. Including a completely new face - a young dark-haired girl who looked to be barely a teenager. he shook his head in incredulity.

However, before he went to go sit with them, his stomach forcefully reminded him of his primary reason for coming, and took him directly to the food line where he was met with the glorious sight of... steaks... rare steaks. His hands were on the tongs before he could even finish calculating, adding two... three... four.. and finally five of them onto the plate on his tray before he headed over and set his tray down near the Dude, Cassidy, Hargun, and the other girl.

He smiled to his friends and assumed that given the girl's company that she knew the ropes. "Good afternoon." He smiled pleasantly to the company. After sating himself with at least a preliminary slice of the food, and swallowing, he extended his hand to Amaya. "I don't believe we've met yet. My name is Ambrose." He said with a practiced aire. "Seems that new people are showing up every day..." he added, a little hesitant.

Vasile was going mad from boredom. The beach was great and all, but he was getting lonely. He hadn't seen Karma or Cass around, and he hadn't heard anything from Cass in regard to the note he sent her. Finally, he decided he had gotten hungry enough to justify going to the cafeteria. Tucking Brutus under his arm, he headed into the cafeteria, looking to surprised to see it rather full.

Timothy heard the door above him shut and someone walk down the stairs. He decided to peek out the door and saw Vasile walking toward the cafeteria. Timothy felt weird, he didn't want to be a stalker or anything but he was rather bored himself, and food did sound good.

Quickly getting dressed in something a bit nicer he headed out towards the cafeteria hoping to maybe talk to Vasile and hang out. While getting something to eat of course.

Hargun smiled at Greer. "Thanks. That helps. I kinda figured because Im usually in bed really early in the afternoon." Waving as Greer left she looked to Amaya. "I dont really get the time to ask.. the last time I saw Moreau we were all there and he was NOT in a good mood. But oh well... Ill find out later anyways."

She smiled as she saw Ambrose come in. "Hey Ambrose. Hows it going?"

Good lord.. theyre just appearing from no where! she thought as she saw a new man enter with an adorable dog in his arms, then spotted Timothy and shouted out. "Hey Timothy! Woah-" she noticed he changed as well. And at that moment a very odd feeling fell over her.. he arrived with her yet he's also recieved his second injection. The slight feeling of being left behind or struggling to catch up seemed to fit better.. out of most of her friends now she was the only one who hadnt changed yet.

Is that a good thing? she asked herself.

Okey. Greer WAS trying to flirt with him. Awkwardly, but persistently.

WOW.

As the befeathered entomologist made her exit, the Dude followed her with his eyes, processing this sudden realization. Well, she WAS cute ... in awkward geek kinda way. Adorably Vilma-esque ... but why would Greer have a crush on him?! ... he wasn't even smart. Really not the type he'd think Greer would go for. This was all very new and unexpected. But the Dude grinned nonetheless. It felt nice to be liked. And winked at.

Then Ambrose entered and he waved to his buddy as a greeting, trying to act casual about all this. A bit belatedly, the Dude responded to the others.

"Sorry, zoned out. Good to meet you, Amaya. So ... you are an orphan, huh? Man, Moreau knows how to pick people that will not be missed all that much ... b*****d." - he nodded at her and petted Captain Morgan on the back. The cat stretched blissfully and closed his eyes to snooze, enjoying the love. He wouldn't even mind if people other then the Dude would give him a pet or two. As long as they were respectful about it.

"Well, there are ways of this island, I am sure, but we have been told that if we leave before completing the full series of injections, we will die of cancer shortly there after. So that effectively prevents escape attempts for now." - the Dude added to Amaya.

Then Vasile and Timmy showed up. Captain Morgan, who was comfortably stretched out on the table, opened one of his evil eyes and looked lazily at the newcomers. Oh ... looky there ... entertainment has arrived. He gave Brutus a look with enough vile attitude to make a New York rat have a heart attack.

Amaya smiled and shook the hand Ambrose offered. He didn't look as... different as the others, though she could tell her was one of the ones who had started to change or whatever. Her handshake was surprisingly strong despite how little she was, a trait she had picked up from her father. "Heya Ambrose, nice ta meet ya. My names Amaya and... yeah, I just arrived yesterday about." She then looked over at Hargun and thought for a moment. "Well... what about those call buttons in the rooms? Thorn told me that if you press 0 you get help or something." She made the same weird hand gesture as before to emphasis her point.

"Cancer? ... Jeeze..." Amaya lowered her head, feeling bad for everyone almost now. Now what? She sighed and frowned before her attention went over to the door. "Doggie!" The frown immediantly vanished at the sight of the tiny dog in the man's arms.

Ambrose looked over as the Cafeteria remarkably began to fill up even more as two other familiar faces entered.
He nodded pleasantly to Timothy and Vasile, still looking a bit sheepishly towards Vasile.

"Amaya. It's nice to meet you" his handshake was firm - but not deathgrip - in return. "Well, nice as I suppose it can be considering the situation" he gave a halfsmile as he overheard the Dude's summary of her situation.

"Orphan...? So you were adopted here..?" That certainly fixed her here. No one to come looking for her either. They were getting resourceful, and careful it seemed not to retrace any steps. But unlike Colche, she seemed rather perky and well-adjusted.

He nodded at her question. "Yes, you can press 0 to get a hold of one of the staff at the lab... unless you irritate them and they disable that" he added as a grumbling after affect.

At Amaya's call of "dog!" Ambrose nearly coughed on his steak, thinking that she was referring to him at first until he looked back following her eyes and spotted Brutus. "Oh! That!" Ambrose spluttered in relief.

Brutus licked in Amaya's general direction eagerly, his little tail stub wagging. Vasile gave a dashing, but innocently charming smile. Brutus wiggled to get out of his grasp, but then his ears shot upwards as a scent wafted across his nose and he almost wet himself. He wiggled out of his master's arms and went bee-lining towards the door.

"Brutus what's gotten into you?" Vasile asked before he spotted the red cat. "Oh." He flattened his gaze over at the Dude and his cat.

But then is struck him. Who were a few of these new people. They weren't in the script. Make up crew?? No, that would be too good to be true, and this little girl was definately not ex-CIA. "Vasile DiRossi," he said, holding out his hand to her.

He gave a nod to Ambrose, and then his eyes widened as he saw Tim. "Oh.. Timmy. I've never seen you with your make up on.. thats, uh...interesting."

"Ahhhh... Vasile ummm..." Timothy was about to point out that it wasn't make up, but he really didn't want to argue with Vasile about this. "Thanks" he said flately and stood by the tables.

"Hi, don't think I know you all here, I'm Timothy Matthews, I'm a musician. Sort of." Timothy rubbed the back of his neck and watched the cat and brutus. All these people, it really made him nervous which caused some kind of... a feeling inside him. It was like something was tensing up, since he realized he was a skunk he didn't even want to think about it.

He walked up and noticed that they had some seafood. He looked over the food they had and noticed the shrimp, the small little pieces of meat looked extremely appitizing just laying there, all lined out.

He served himself while everyone else chatted.

Replying to what was talked about with the phone dialing and all she gave a nervous grin. "Well I didnt remember about those.. Ill remind myself to talk.. er try to contact Moreau later."

Hargun raised an eyebrow towards Vasile as he mentioned Timothy wearing makeup.

Whats with him? Thats obviously not makeup..

She watched Brutus and looked down at her pushed aside tray, picked it up and walked over to the trash bin to throw everything away. When she came back she leaned her head over on the table and closed her eyes.

"Mm.. Im just gonna rest my head a little bit guys, if you dont mind. Ill still listen though.. Im just so tired."

As his prey fled even before he could really start hunting, the Captain debated giving chase. Briefly. But he was being petted over here, and he really did just devour two steaks all by his lonesome. Chasing a dog, no matter how entertaining, was just not wise at this moment. The red cat yawned widely, showing off his yellowing fangs and went back to dozing.

Meanwhile, the Dude watched Vasile compliment Timmy on his "make up". O-key ... did no one fill him in yet? GAWD. It's been, like, a week by now? And yet Vasile seemed to be still under impression that this was all a movie in which he was the hero. Hey ... whatever works ... So Timmy was a skunk, huh? Man, better either stay on his good side or very far away. A skunk was nothing to joke about, especially a human sized skunk. Talk about a big stink ... He grinned to himself, imagining a vivid picture of Moreau's death by Timmy's powerful glands. Oh, how very very appropriate. Maybe he should talk about that possibility with Timmy sometime ... it had merit.

"Hey Timothy! Looking good in black and white, man!" - still smiling to himself, the Dude nodded to both Vasile and Timothy and went back to scratched his cat behind the ears.

Ian moved to the side as he entered the cafeteria and saw a dog rocketing towards him. "What the...." he muttered "What's a dog doing here..." Looking up from the animal he spotted a rather large-ish group of people. Among them were only two people he had met, the Dude and Hargun. Wandering over nervously he smiled slightly. "Hi. Um..." He had spotted Ambrose, wondering what the man had thought about his abrupt departure the last time they had seen each other. "Mind if I join you?" he asked, "I'm Ian."

He looked around and saw how many people had started to change....how long until he too would. As his gaze wandered over the faces of the people, he couldn't help but think about how long before they all changed.

"Yeah, guess you could say that. This was supossed to be a little get-away for orphaned teenagers." Amaya jumped at Ambrose's sudden coughing fit, eyes wide. "Oh god, sorry." She laughed nervously and started to swing her feet again. Blinking, she watched the tiny dog scramble and frowned, slumping into her chair. "Awwww..." She wanted to cuddle it... Amaya turned and reached up to shake Vasile's hand, but stopped and looked directly into his eyes. "Vasile... DiRossi...?" She blinked a few more times before having an epiphany. "Hey! Your an actor, right?" Queen of obvious, thy name is Amaya. "But... why're you here?" The young girl stared up at him, rather shocked to find someone so well-known.

"Wait, make-up? What?" She raised a brow and looked to Ambrose and the Dude, utterly confused. "And uh, heya Timothy." She gave a slight wave, wiggling in her seat. GOD THE CONFUSION. Amaya looked back over to Hargun. "... You should really go sleep if your that tired." Subconciously a gloved hand reached over to the large fluffy lump on the table and scratched it between his ears, having forgotten all the nasty glares it had been giving everyone and everything. Hearing someone new, she turned around and gave a wave up to Ian. "Heya Ian, names Amaya. Got here about yesterday." She held her free hand out to him.

Ambrose blinked as the cafeteria began to get even MORE crowded. Had someone turned on a magnet or something?

He looked to Timothy again and did a double take. He ... had started to change as well. Black and white fur was sprouting from various locations of his body, and his ears had grown and rounded. Something in the back of his mind prodded the word "skunk" at him, and Ambrose shifted nervously, once again feeling slightly better at the doctor's choice of his own animal.

"Timothy... I'm sorry.." he began, patting the man on the shoulder.

He looked incredulously to Vasile, but merely shook his head.

Ambrose looked over to Ian as he approached, recognizing one of teh people who had fled at his arrival in to the cafeteria the other day. He had found out later from Colche that he hadn't really scared her off... but what about him? And with the present company also sprouting fur or flippers and Ian's... arrival and not departure... perhaps he had left for another reason as well..?

Ambrose reached out to shake Ian's hand. Even though Ambrose was well practiced in teh proper way to introduce himself, with Ian his handshake was a bit hesitant, not quite as confident and strong. "Ian... yes - I remember you from the other day... I had thought that I frightened you off. You left before you could give me your name."

Ambrose glanced over to Amaya again as she gushed over the movie star. It certainly was an ecclectic group of people.... he glaned around the table... perhaps the closest thing to a family he'd have here... the people he'd be sharing the rest of his life with...?

Vasile scrated the back of his head. All these people were doing the whole "but its not makeup" bit. Oh boy... not this. This made in very uncomfortable. A dread in the pit of his stomach. But he refused to believe it. This was definately some weird candid camera Big Brother Suvivor Surreal life thing, or something, and he wasn't going to be played the fool.

"I'm just here on vacation," he finally said to the young woman. Whatever. He didn't want to argue with another woman abuot the whole acting campt thing. Looking very uneasy and uncomfortable in a large group of people that all were alittle off their rockers, Vasile headed towards the food display.

Timothy got an entire plate of shrimp and sat down, he then sat there and begin to munch them one by one. It felt right for some reason. After he realized what he was doing he looked back up, hearing everyone and feeling Ambrose's pat.

"Thanks Dude, Ambrose. It's a little weird but I'll adjust." Timothy shrugged, he really wasn't that well off on it but he didn't want to sound that... cowardly in front of Vasile.

Timothy nodded to Ian, the new commer. He hadn't met him before either. He sort of saw a similarity between himself and this guy, well he would have if he wasn't sprouting fur.

"I'm just here to eat and chit chat, don't mind me."

Hargun grumbled at Amaya with her head still flat on the table. "Whats it look like Im trying to do right now?" she made a snorting noise, obviously a lazy laugh and murmered. "Im eating the table, cant you tell.." she said sarcastically.

Apon hearing Vasile's name quite a few times she finally realized a celebrity was here on the island. Though she wasnt really a fan of his and didnt know about him THAT much.. just his name, she looked up, her hair stringling in her eyes and glanced at him and put her head back down.

"Heya Ian." she said, and tried to lift her hand up to make a small wave. She turned a bit and looked at Timothy's plate for a sec, just curious if he had developed some odd appetite like some of the others did.

The Dude stood up and followed after Vasile, leaving the Captain in Amaya's capable hands. The kitty was actually purring. Granted it still sounded rather like a growl, but whatever that girl was doing, the Captain aproved.

"So hey, Vasile, how's your script studying goes?" - he grinned at the actor, and picked up a plate. With a nonchalant expression he began piling shrimp onto his plate ... one dozen ... two dozen ... three ... Lowering his voice to a very private whisper, he added: "Heard you've been practicing love scenes on a good friend of mine here ... just a friendly advice - you brag to anyone about that and I tell Cass. And I'd say some flowers and a sweet sentimental apology letter is also in order. What do you think?"

He smiled and put a shrimp into his mouth, swallowing it without chewing.

Ian nodded at Amaya's introduction and after shaking Ambrose's hand, shook hers. "Arrived yesterday huh?" Ian said to Amaya. "Heh, always trying to get more people....acting like there's not enough of us as is."

Ian turned to Ambrose. "Ambrose wasn't it? Sorry for bailing on you, but after the other girl fled, and I having scared away all the other people I've met on the island...I was having problems with coping." He rubbed a hand on the back of his neck in a nervous gesture. "Yeah, sorry 'bout that." Ian sighed as he glanced around looking at those who said hi when his gaze came across Timothy. With the exception of the white in his hair and the fur, he could have passed as a twin brother to his own little brother back in the states.

"Hmm, Timothy.....did you know - wait of course you wouldn't know...I'm such an idiot. But you resemble my little brother. He'd be about your age I think....." Ian halted he was rambling, excessively. Turning slightly red Ian moved towards the food table mumbling a quick "hello" to Hargun

Amaya stared at Vasile like HE was the one with flippers and watched him walk over to get some food. "... Has... anyone told 'im? And why is he here? Is this some movie or some-GOD I'M CONFUSED!" Gloved hands shot up to grab her head before a loud thud echoed once her cranium made contact with the table and stayed there. "... Ow. That wasn't something smart to do."

Gradually, she turned her head to look at Hargun through her mess of raven locks. "I mean in a BED not on a table. Though the table does taste pretty good, doesn't it?" She gave a snort and went back to stareing at it. "Scrumtious." It was then that she realized her hand wasn't touching red fur anymore. A gloved hand rose from her lap and scurried over much like Thing from the Adam's Family so she could continue to scratch the Cap'n between his ears.

Ambrose had paused in his conversation to wolf through a good portion of the steaks he had brought with him to the table. Although, while he was eating them quite quickly, he did have good manners in his defense. He chewed quickly with his mouth closed, and sliced them with his knife pre-eating.

Finally, taking a break, he spoke up again. "That's ironic, Ian." He began . "And here I thought my apperance was the cause for yours and Colche's departure. Perhaps there have been a series of miscommunications."

Ambrose watched the Dude go speak with Vasile and turned his attention back to the people he was less familiar with.

He shook his head sadly at Amaya. "Everyone here was given a different... er... cover story." He kept his voice down, careful not to speak loud enough to catch Vasile's attention who was already distracted by the Dude. "His was just more.. well... watertight than most peoples'. Probably because the Doctor doesn't want to deal with him when he DOES find out any sooner than he needs to.

His thoughts lingered on her, and, to be honest, he was glad that at least he didn't have to break the news to her. "I'm sorry.... I don't know what things were like for you before you came here... but I DO hope that it won't be that bad for you here. I really want to believe that they're starting to think more about who they bring - people who don't have as much to lose back on the mainland.... unlike Hargun and Timothy and Vasile and me." She looked so young, too... had her whole life ahead of her. Even if she was an orphan. So many dependent people here... Colche... perhaps her... then again - youth didn't necessarily mean she couldn't take care of herself. "Thorn" seemed the perfect example of bullheaded independence in someone so young. "Well.... if you need anything... don't hesitate to ask -" He gave her a smile. "your resident wolfman." He said jokingly with an odd mix of bitterness and sarcasm thrown in.

"And good luck, Timothy.... it... to be honest.... isn't something exactly simple to adjust to." He sighed, taking a consoling bite of meat.

Vasile looked in digust at all the shrimp he piled on his plate, and he suddenly wished he hadn't grabbed the few he did. But then he composed himself and put on a very smug smile and looked straiht up at the Dude. "Brag?" he asked, mocking insult. "Come now. For one, if you've heard abuot that then it isn't me you should worry about kissing and telling." He moved down the line, but stayed close enough to Dude so he could hear without raising his voice. "Anyway, I don't need to brag. I'm confident in my abilities in a lover, and unlike some men," he stopped to give an accusatory glare to Dude, "I don't need to brag to reassure myself of my sexual mastery." That was partially true at least. It's bad publicity to go around and brag about the women that you've slept with. And being he was a famous movie star, it was the women who did most of the bragging. Vasile continued, "as for an apology, I don't think thats necessary. I didn't do anything to her that she wasn't positively begging for by the end of it. I had fun. She had fun. And we went our seperate ways. She gave no indication she wanted me to stick around and complicate things." Vasile glaced back over the dude and popped a grape in his mouth from the fruit bar. "You think you have me all figured out don't you? Just because I enjoy sex, and have proven myself a capable lover doesn't mean I view women as mindless little toys." He paused, watching his expression. "That's what you thought, isn't it? To be honest the woman in question proved herself to be very intelligent and engaging. In addition to being absolutely dynamite in bed, in case you're wondering." He grinned. "But just because I don't want to wisk off and elope every woman I enjoy having a little fun with doesn't mean I don't value them as human being." Vasile sneered and spun around on his heel. "Anyway," he said over his shoulder. "At the very least maybe now you won't think me to a f**, eh?" He ran a hair through his hair flippantly and strode out of the cafeteria, waving to the Dude with a smile and twirl as if they had just had a brotherly jest.

Timothy noticed Vasile go as he was finishing his plate of shrimp which he'd... quite frankly devoured. Strangely enough, some new basic instinct of his felt like he thought they were going to move any second.

He watched Vasile go, feeling foolish and sort of upset. But he was full now. "Hey, you didn't have to be so rude."

"Anyway everyone, it was nice meeting you but I'm gonna go as well. Work on my music for bit. I hope you understand..." Timothy trailed off and when Vasile was safetly at a distance he jetted out too.

Hargun laughed at Amaya's comment about the table. "Its truly is much better than the other food here." she lifted her head up once more and yawned a very heavy yawn and scratched her tummy.

"Well, I hate to join the bandwagon guys, but Im gonna go home and take a well needed nap." she said, stretching and getting up out of her chair. It suprised her how she casually mentioned her duplex as /home/. One could hardly call a hotel/apartment sized room a home. Either that or she was just too used to living in a normal house.

She patted Amaya on the back before leaving, and tried to sound as reassuring as she could. "I was confused at first too.. then depressed... then just.. here. Youll get used to it and we're all here with yah so.. GOODNIGHT EVERYONE.." she said, slumping out into the sunlight and wincing at its brightness as she walked out towards the duplexes.

As soon as she walked in the doorway to her duplex, shutting it and falling over on her bed she started to drift off to sleep, the sun still blaring overhead and everyone else out and about.

Ive gotta drop this habit.. she thought one last time before she was completely out.

Her dear sketchbook lay on the table next to the bed for the second day in a row, being neglected from its master.

What seemed like just a few seconds later, Hargun was back at home in Oregon, standing in front of an art inspector who looked very pleased with her work. He gave her a nod of approval with a smile and she was on her way to an unamed art college despite her young age. Nobody seemed to be there though, only her the inspector and the dean who sstood there grinning maniacly. The inspector chained her arms together and she was thrown into a helicopter and dropped off on an isle where there was not a soul, not a tree, no animals, nothing... just a large pile of sand.

Then, her nightmare shifted, as if being erased from a chalkboard where she sat out on the beach, and everyone she had met on the island were there, but so were her parents and friends from home. They were all huddled together back to back as each one started to shrink or grow and change, each deforming theirselves into the often vent pics she drew. Everyone changed but her, and they seeme dto ignore she was there at all.
Until all of a sudden her body changed and she was a fish out of water, quite literally.

Again, it shifted, her head was messed up from her sleeping disorders and causing her to have several other this island-like nightmares until they evaporated and continous scenes of her typical dreams of getting shot and killed, or mass murdering.. the typical frightening nitemares. But each twisted with people from the island and her life back home.

Repetitious dreams from the nights before. All come together now for an intense 'show'.

You awake to feel something strange happening to your body, like a burning sensation, all over. Your fingers and arms hurt most of all and you watch before your eyes as they start to legthen. The fingers growing thin and spindley at the top as a webbing grows out with them, attatched between the fingers. The same webbing begins to grow under your arm along the bottom.

Your body aches and itches as brown fur begins to sprout in different places all over your body. Your feet ache as you watch the nails darken and grow longer into claws. Your ears hurt as they too grow larger, more round but more pointy also.

Your realize just how much more accute your hearing has become. You can hear the insects outside. A thought crosses your mind of catching and eating them, a none human instinct entering an otherwise completely human mind.

Your eye sight not quite what it used to be, it hasn't changed much, but from someone who had perfect vision it is noticable, especially things that are further away.

The Response

Hargun closed her eyes hard wincing in pain from everything and her arms in such an ache. Oh god no.. no no no.. not now?! repeatedly she screamed in her head then opened her eyes to look at her hands and in horror squealed loudly. She slowly crawled down from her bed, whining to the bathroom and looked in the mirror, a bit fuzzy unil she focussed her eyes, and and out her arms, turning them over and inspecting them until she couldnt see through her puffy red eyes.

Slumping out of the bathroom she retreated to a corner of the room; the smallest and darkest she could find and curled up in a fetal position, rocking back and forth whimpering away. She was in so much shock she couldnt even attempt to say anything to herself and her repeatous crying in her head ceased and all she could do was quiver in attempt to eeze the pain and listen to everything else that seemed to be so much louder than her sobbing.

When about an hour of rocking and crying stopped, she tuned down to sniffle, figuring she wasnt in such intense pain now and she might have overeacted out of the suddeness of it all. She sat still for a moment her arms still a bit sore as she listening intentively to the things outside her room, and turned her head to the phone on the wall, staring at it as if it were some stranger who broke into her room.

Should I call? she asked herself.

Hanging out with Amaya

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya walked downstairs with a bounce in her step, being in a generally good mood today. She wore a black hoodie with the hood pulled back despite how hot it was along with a green kilt and a pair of green pants underneath them. Jeeze, it was gonna take her forever to get used to the heat...

Gradually she made her way to duplex 16, the one she had found out that Hargun stayed in. So far, the red-head was the only one aside from Thorn who seemed to be around her age... maybe they could hang out today or something.

Stopping in front of the plain looking door with the number 16 engraved in it's plaque, she knocked. "Haaargun~, y'here? It's Amaya."

Hargun Aikason
After a while Hargun had decided to suck it up and just relax the rest of the day at home.. besides, shed eventually come out for everyone to see her.

Her slightly larger ears twitched a bit as she could hear the trampling footsteps of another comming near the duplex. She panicked and ran for a long sleeve shirt to throw on. Unfortunately she didnt own any hats so she tried to keep her hair overlapping her ears to keep them hidden.

The only thing that seemed to stand out were her imensely long arms, webs, and fingers... oh and hair.

s**t.. Im not gonna be able to cover myself.. she thought and stopped rushing when she heard Amaya's voice from outside.

"Uhhh... uh hold on Amaya!" she chirped and tried to turn off as many lights as she could, but the sun outside slid through the tiny lines of the window shades. She had kept them shut due to the fact that it seemed to hurt a bit to look towards it. She went to the door andcreaked it open, not showing herself and murmering to Amaya.

"Uh... come in? BUT.. uh.. but dont get shocked k..kay?" she studdered.

Amaya Vaughan
She blinked and hesitantly walked in, closing the door behind her. "Okaaay..." Green eyes looked around and landed on Hargun before squinting. After being in such bright light then going into a room that was almost void of it, it took awhile for them to adjust. But once they did...

"Oh my god!" Amaya jumped and a step back, immediantly regreating her actions. "What happened?! You were just- and how can- ... well, danm." She slumped and walked closer. "I'm so sorry, I thought it was like... gradual. But... what happened?" Even though her arms were covered, the unnatural lenght of them had to be the creepiest thing on Hargun by far. Hell with the hair and pointed ears, her arms were LONG and looked like they had... webbing inbetween her fingers. Oh s**t, what was she turning into?

Hargun Aikason
Hargun nodded slowly and lookeddown to her clawed toes, wiggling them.

"Yea, it is gradual. I got here at least a week and a half ago. I even thought I wasnt gonna change but.. apparently I am." she said, and lifted her arm to scratch at the back of her neck with incredible ease.

And with a casual weak smile, she attempted to change the subject. "So what'd you come over for? I never get company to tell you the truth... course Im always out and about if not sleeping.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya frowned sadly, feeling sorry for her friend. She seemed to be taking it kind of okay though... maybe it wasn't that bad. After a small bit of silence, she joined in the changed subject along with her. "Well, when we met the other day it seemed like you were the only one close to my age... save for Thorn. Though I don't really feel up to confronting her about the lies she told me so... yeah. I was just wondering if you'd like to hang out today 'n talk... 'n stuff." Gradually she was getting used to Hargun looking like that but since she had seen her just a few days before NORMAL... it was hard to adjust to like the others who had changed.

Hargun Aikason
"Ah.. yea.. I was talking with Lauren. Shes around our age." Hargun said then gave a rather sad look. "Lauren's not that bad you know. And call me crazy psycho batbitch, but she made a very good point the other day about Moreau... said he had good intentions." she made a flinching motion. "I mean with the exception of dooming us here." she smiled at being asked to hang out.

"Sure.. Id love to hang out with yah. Uhm.. but like can I get a hat fom you o some sunglasses or something?" she laughed softly and rubbed her eyes. "My eyes feel a bit like theres an eyelash stuck in em you know? Just minus th itchy part I guess..." se said and turned to a mirror nearby to get another look at her face... her now semi-hairy face.

"Urgh... and while we're outmaybe stop for a snack" she said rubbing her tumy.

Amaya Vaughan
"I suposse so, but I'd rather he get people like me... y'know, with nothing left to loose I guess. Ambrose said he has a girlfriend back home and you probably have a mom and dad, right?" She gave a shrug then looked around to think. "Uhhh, yeah! I have a hat back at my duplex and some sunglasses right here."

Amaya kneeled down and pulled the pumpkin-shaped bookbag off of her back before rooting through it and handing a pair of sunglasses up to her. "They might be a little small, I've got a tiny head." She laughed slightly and stood back up, putting her bookbag back on. "So your turning into a bat?" She tried to smile a little bit. "Bat's arn't that bad, kinda cute 'n fuzzy."

The young girl then turned to the door and looked back at Hargun to make sure she had the sunglasses on before opening it. "Okay, we'll zoom to my duplex, then grab some chow."

Hargun Aikason
"Ugh... yea. I had a life going on back then. Mum and Dad were pretty nice, andI was about to enter my last year of highschool.. and during the time looking for an art scholarship." she looked rather cheerful for a sec and dashed for her nightstand where she had her sketchbook and grabbed it, her fingers having a hard time getting a grip because of he new feeling of it. "Uh... okay.. hold on.." she said, attemtping a few different ways topick it up and finally got a grasp bringing it over to Amaya. "Heres some of my work... but I really cant do much with it now that Im here.. I just hoe this changing doesnt wait... a bat.."

She paused and her eyes started to redden up again. Bats had wings duh, and wings meant long, non apposable thumbs and fingers. "..." she almost started to bust out crying but swallowed it down and shakily took the glasses and hat from Amaya, both fitting fairly well. It made her eyes feel a bit more relaxed, and figuring that they would be out in the sun it would feel like being back in her slightly dark room.

"Oh Ill be right back a second.." she said and ent to the bathroom to chnge back into more cooler clothes.. despite the fuz and such. When she came back she nodded to Amaya. "Kay.. you place then food. Sounds great"

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya was about to hug the poor girl, but stopped herself as she skittered off to the bathroom. "Don't worry, see?" A gloved hand pointed to the finger without any webbing between it. "Mister Dude has hands like that but he can still use them. It'll just take a little practise, that's all." She tried her best to sound positive and cheerful before she peeked her head out of the duplex and headed towards her own.

She wasn't sure if Hargun wanted to be really seen by anyone else at the moment, so she walked rather quickly up the stairs to her duplex and unlocked the door, holding it open for Hargun and switching the lights off.

Hargun Aikason
Hagun move along quickly as well.Indeed she didnt want to be seen really.. even though most of the people would understand, she just didnt feel like being subject to a lot of recent taklk. Every once in a while her ears would twitch at a sudden bug or critter not far off and mde her almost hesitate. Why do I want.. oh.. nvermind.. she started to think and followed Amaya in, finally relieving herself of her squinting eyes.

"Heehee. Nice place... gives me de ja vu." she snorted and looked around, trying to spot anything really dfferent about the basic shape of the place then noticed the phone that had now become a haunting roomate in her own room.

"Mmm... do you... do you think I should contact Dr Moreau?" she sat down on achair and watched Amaya. "I dunno if he knows about me changing er not.."

((After we finish at Amaya's place wanna move to the Village ORP?))

Amaya Vaughan
The young girl laughed slightly and dug around in her dresser. "Yeah, though I tried to make it a little more homey." She gestured to the walls, which were littered with movie posters like Hellboy, The Matrix, and Constantine. "My bunk back at the orphanage was pretty plain and redundant too, so I tried my best to give it a little personality... hence the posters." She shrugged then paused for a moment as she crouched, looking over at the pad of numbers.

"I... I dunno. That really depends if you think your up to talking to him." Amaya hesitated a minute before continuing. "I've been too chicken to ask what I'm turning into, myself..." She pulled a bright orange beanie out from under a pile of clothes and stood up, walking over to give it to her.

((Sure. ^^))

Hargun Aikason
"Nice." Hargun grinned. "If in the middle of the night tey go missing.. it wasnt me.." she snickered.

Turning back to the subject of Moreau she sighed. "Well he KNOWS everything about us and wats happening about us.. and that what makes him so hard to talk to. You just dont wanna bother te man whose nowin control of your life."

She looked at Amaya rather confused, from the beanie to her and back, then pointed one of her long pointy fingers at herself. "Fer me?"

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya laughed slightly and nodded in agreement. "Yeah, guess your right..."

Green eyes then looked down at the beanie. "Yeah, you said you wanted a hat and that's all I've got... sorry if it's too bright or hot for it." She slumped slightly, then looked around. "Hey... do you... think he has cameras in our rooms and stuff? To... y'know moniter us?" Her eyes went wide and looked at Hargun. If he did then he saw her... oh my god. Ohmygodohmygodohmygod.

Hargun Aikason
Hargun grinned and threw it on immediately and grinned. "I love it!" she squeaked and gave Amaya a hug, it feeling a tad awkward with lanky orangutan-lengthed arms.

Then she gave the same wide look back at Amaya and shuddered. "Ererrrerrrrrr..." she had a rather sick looknow andsat bak in hr chair. For a moment or two she said nothing. Then finally laughed hysterically, somewhat nervously as well. "HAHHA. I.. In sure he doesnt have them.. or at least not in the bathrooms... and.. and.. he probably as female staff wtaching us.." she tried really hard to sound reassuring.

Reasuring my a**.. I thought Moreau was nice.. but now I have to add perverted to the list..

Amaya Vaughan
The girl gladly hugged her back. Yay, someone who liked hugs! After which, she joined in her nervous laughter and nodded... though it didn't look very convincing. "Y-Yeah! I'm sure your right." Green eyes scanned the room once over to see if any cameras were there. Finding none, she quickly changed to subject. "Anyway! Wanna head out to the cafeteria?"

Hargun Aikason
((Woah wtf went on there?))

"Yes please Im famished.." she said and did a look around too. Maybe her super handy ears coul pick up a lense focusing or a rotate of a amera. But no luck. Sighig she looked down, maybe to find one facing up at an angle from a crak in the wall or floor. No luck there either.

"Alrighty then.. I guess she should go.." she said shifting the snglasses a bit and pulling the beanie down a tid bit more, then headed for the door.

((kay so you wanna make the next post at the Village? :3))

Amaya Vaughan
((Continued from Hargun's journal.))

Amaya nodded to her bat-like friends and headed out of the door, locking it once both of them were out. Quickly she made her way to the cafeteria and did a quick once-over of the place before stepping inside and heading for the buffet. Good, looks like no one else was there... for the time being at least. She recalled the other day how it had been barren until the place flooded with people.

She stopped by the salad bar and just kind of... stared at it. Salads had never been big on her priority to eat list since her parents had been very partial to the saying 'grab and growl'. A small laugh emitted from her throat as she made a small salad, thinking that soon that saying might turn out quite literal.

But why was she craving a salad? Green eyes looked down at it while she headed over to a table and waited for Hargun. She didn't touch it but just... stared. "Hey... Hargun? Did you have any weird cravings or something before you changed?"

Hargun Aikason
Hargun quickly follwoed after and once in the cafeteria, notcing the coast was clear, she sighed relievingly. She looked over all the trays for somethig to satisfy her appetite when she came across a plate of shrimp; that somehow looked much more heavenly than it did yesterday. "Well.." she began, while piling up a plate.

"I... er... I bet youre gonna think this is wierd.. but.. I was and ave been dying for insects." she gave herself a wierd look and shok her head while adding more shirinp to her pile. I know.. it scared me so.. dont freak." she said and sat down a a table with a glass of soda and her verflowing late of shrimp hat se dug into automatically.

Although she fgured nobody would come here, just a spur of the moment, she still listenedvery carefully for any sounds of someone coming.

Cassidy Smith
Cassidy was being brave, yes, really. She was out in public and everything. Well, it was that or not eat, so, fine. Screw Moreau. Screw everyone.

No steak today. She was sick of steak. No, today, she had a plate of meatballs; something about the shape appealed to her. She also had a few sticks of pepperoni, ham on a bun, and a glass of iced tea, minus the ice.

When you tend to hide out in your room, you got hungry.

Cassidy peered into the dining area cautiously, her tongue flickering. Well. People she didn't really know. She'd met at least one of them, anyway. She steeled herself and made herself walk towards the girls.

Amaya Vaughan
"Euh, that's... pretty creepy." Amaya openly admitted before poking at her salad with a fork. "Though my craving doesn't seem to be that bad, I've just never wanted to eat a salad before. Maybe what I'm turning into is a herbivore or something?" She frowned, though it didn't seem that bad... their were a lot of neat animals that were herbivores, right?

Spotting someone walk into the cafeteria out of the corner of her eye she turned to look a smiled. It was... Cassidy, yeah! That was her name. Giving a friendly wave she motioned for her to join them. "Hi Cassidy."

Hargun Aikason
"Yea.." she noded scarfing down a shrimp. As she listened to Amaya she didnt noticed the sound of Cassidy making her way to the cafeteria. And when Amaya shouted out to her, Hargun neary lept from her seat and tried to cover her face, or anything she possibly could... bu wasnt doing a very good job of it.

"Eheh.. heya Cassidy she said, her head turned down to her food as she tried to stuff herself.

Cassidy Smith
"Hi, guys." Cassidy grinned, and sat down. She looked at Hargun for a moment or two, her tongue flickered, and she sighed. "I guess, well, they got you." She waved a hand dismissively. "Some sort of... hm." She cut herself off, aware of her own insensitivity. She should REALLY know better.

Yick.

Well, it wasn't so bad. Still, these two girls were... they were so young! It seemed like an awfully horrible thing. Neither of them could be even out of their teens, and...

Cass reminded herself she wasn't so badly off, after all.

Amaya Vaughan
The young girl immediantly felt bad calling out to Cassidy, having forgotten all about that Hargun probably didn't want anyone to see her. She frowned and looked down at her salad bowl, pushing the lettuce around with her fork. Then again, the red-head would have to confront people sooner or later and Cassidy would have joined them anyway...

In an attempt to try and keep the subject lite, she spoke up. "So how've you been Cassidy?" She haden't talked much to the woman the first time she met everyone else, but she still felt bad for her since she was turning into something she hated and all...

Hargun Aikason
Hargun decided it was okay to uncover herself now, not that much of her new features seemed very hidden at all. "Yea. Finally nipped me in the butt, that transformation did..." she took a long gulp of her soda and continued to eat the shrimp.

"So Cassidy.. I hate to ask but.. how long have you been transformed now? Im trying to figure out if these injections have a schedule or something.. I havent gotten much info but.." she said, coughing to change her voice and could help but smile a bit. "'oh NOES we are turning into animaaals. whatever shall we do?' and 'hes such a b*****d that moreau... taking us away from our lives and yada yada...' and also 'you guys are here on my island and youre screwd- I mean doomed to stay here for ever as my pet HAHAHA.'" she gave a dull look. "Well.. forget that last one.." she giggled.

Cassidy Smith
"I'm doing.... mostly okay," Cassidy told Amaya. She felt obliged to be at least somewhat upbeat, or least put on a front for these two.

"Let's see. Um. I've had..." Erk. Her new resolve to be brave wasn't quite up to saying that. "I've been like this for, um, a little over a week, I think. I don't know if there's any sort of schedule, though. As far as I know, no one's got their third injection yet." She stabbed at a meatball with her fork. "I think someone said there's a waiting period. I have no idea how long it might be, though."

Don't think about that. Oh, no no no.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya kind of drifted out of the conversation for a minute, letting Hargun ask her questions and such. Jeeze... she seemed like one of the only normal ones here now! How creepy. Taking another bite from her salad she almost choked, laughing at Hargun's comments.

Hargun Aikason
Hargun looked to Cass and nodded. "I see then. Ugh.. I know its not a good thing to ask for, but Id like some sort of staff member to help me out.. or you guys maybe. I mean right now weve assumed Im turning into a bat, but what kind and such.. and what will I need to do once my arms become wings and such.." she continued to ramble on, then took a deep breath.

"I just love this place.." she moaned sarcastically, looking up to the ceiling. She heard Amaya coughing and smiled, patting her on the back.

"Oh yes, and sooner or later youll be a freakus animalus like ourselves." she tried to make this next thing sound interesting, but attempted to keep off the border of depressing. "Lets try and guess what youll be, miss herbivore.. a chipmunk? A cow? A zebra?"

Cassidy Smith
"I'd certainly like to ask a few questions, myself. Will I be venomous? What will happen to my arms and legs?" Cassidy grimaced. "Well, I suppose that bats have some sort of thumb claw... so... maybe that would help some..."

She was feeling just slightly old, hanging around with these girls. They had to be almost ten years younger than her, too. Geez.

"I've been trying to work up the courage to track someone down and ask," she admitted.

Amaya Vaughan
"Oh god, a COW?!" Amaya snorted and took another bite out of her salad. "I hope not, that'd be awful. I used to go cow-tipping when I was little and it'd be like their beefy revenge or something."

She then let out a rather loud yawn, holding a gloved hand over her mouth. "Yeah, I'm still too afraid to call them up and ask..." After finishing the last bit of her salad she stood up. "And I'd hate to leave you guys, but I think I'm due for a cat nap." After bussing her tray she waved to both of them. "See ya Hargun 'n Cassidy! Drop by to visit anytime you want someone to talk to."

((That's all for me. z.z *heads for bed*))

Hargun Aikason
Hargun grinned. "Thats awesome... cow-tipping.." She watched Amaya yawn then tried to keep from doing so herself, those contageous devils. She then looked to Cassidy and said "I think Im gonna go too.. maybe sit around the duplex for a bit in the shade.. theres really nothing else I can do today and maybe hope that someone official at least notifys me that they know Ive changed.. sure hate to bump into Moreau and him be all 'WHAT THE HELL IS THAT.'" she laughed.

After gulping down the rest of her drink and throwing away the crumbs of shrimp off her tray she waved to Cassidy, then handed Amaya the sunglasses she had been wearing before either one of them left. "Thanks so much for letting me borrow em. Ill just put the beanie over my forehead enough to shade my eyes till I get home." she grinned and pulled it way down over her eyes, but could see through the bottom of it to see where she was stepping, then headed out towards her duplex to hopefully get the hang of things with her somewhat-changed limbs.

((LAWL WRAPZORZ))

Cassidy Smith
Cassidy stared after them, perplexed, and stabbed at another meatball. She found herself stifling a yawn.

Dangit.

Hargun nodded slowly and lookeddown to her clawed toes, wiggling them.

"Yea, it is gradual. I got here at least a week and a half ago. I even thought I wasnt gonna change but.. apparently I am." she said, and lifted her arm to scratch at the back of her neck with incredible ease.

And with a casual weak smile, she attempted to change the subject. "So what'd you come over for? I never get company to tell you the truth... course Im always out and about if not sleeping.

"Ah..
