Good, Sewelo thought, so long as everyone understood that he was there to protect his family and couldn't be beat, all was well. Walking proudly back to his aunt and mother, the cub high stepped the whole way as if he were royalty. Almost to his aunt, he heard the challenge and turned around, displaying his amazing teeth and fierce look, "Anytime." He challenged back, his little hind end willing a bit like he was thinking of pouncing the male.

Deciding not to, the cub finished his way to his aunt and nuzzled her leg, giving a sorrowful look, brown eyes wide as he stated, "We aren't going to play today? Its not right to break promises, right?" He had heard that part, since he was almost to his mother when he heard that part of the conversation. This new male wasn't nice like Thili if he was taking his aunt away like that, she promised!

Senatla was tense but she did nod to her sister, she understood what she meant. Maybe she was just so used to the roguelands that the ability to truly relax was beyond her. Taking a deep breath, she just forced herself to be calm since worrying would help no one.

The tug-of-war was senses as a competition by the time Kamaria suggested breaking her promise. The young mother's back foot flexed up, the best she could do to hold back showing how disappointed she was. Her great look on Jethro dimmed at the prospect of broken promises. Would it always be like this? Every time she counted on her sister to be there for the family, she was off with Jethro? She deserved to be happy, so the young mother tried to bite down her sudden jealousy and remain neutral of look. "Sure, you two go have fun, come Sewelo, stop giving your aunt a hard time, we better get back before your siblings get themselves in trouble." Nudging at her cub, she tried to get his attention.

To Jethro she did add, "Nice meeting you." Everyone deserved to be happy, Kam deserved to have her own life as well.

Jethro felt very much like an enemy for a moment, as the young cub protested the though of the two of them heading off together without him. He could also sense that Senalta wasn’t exactly pleased by the thought either, though she was doing very well to hide what she was really thinking. From her expression Jethro could make nothing out. But he couldn’t ignore what was going on. The male hadn’t gone deaf when the boy mentioned he wanted to play with Kamaria and that she had promised to do so. Maybe now he was stepping on toes. Perhaps coming had been a poor decision on his part.

He hadn’t given any thought to her prior obligations. Did that make him selfish?

“I apologize,” Jethro said quickly, clearing his throat to rid the clump of awkwardness that had settled within it, “I didn’t know you had made a pact already. I can wait, if it pleases you. Spend the day with your family,” he grinned, looking at Kam, “it’s alright, really! I don’t want to intrude.” As much as he wanted to spend time with her, which was very much indeed, he didn’t want to upset Sewelo or his mother by shoving himself into the picture without even asking. That really was a selfish thing to do.

Damnit, he needed to learn to think more before acting.

Looking around, Jethro did his best not to frown. He wasn’t too upset knowing Kamaria had other plans. It actually made him pretty happy to see her interacting with her family. She looked very happy with them. Something he had never had a chance to experience with his family. And certainly not something he wanted to ruin by bursting onto the scene.

“Why don’t I come around later? I can explore the lands a little and then we can meet up some other time. I think the little guy has earned a right to play with his aunt after besting me like that!”

Sewelo's sweet, pleading voice was enough to tug at any lion's heartstrings and his aunt was no exception. Looking down at the pale cub, Kamaria couldn't help but feel increasingly guilty at even asking the question. She didn't want to agree with him because of her own desires for running off to enjoy herself with Jethro, but knew that Sewelo was entirely right. If Jethro had returned for Kamaria once, what was to say he might not do it again?

Glancing at her sister, Kamaria noticed the flexing of her back foot and her expression fade lightly. While they had not known one another their entire lives, they had gotten to know another incredibly well during their travels. In fact, it was often difficult at times to remember a time in which they were not at one another's sides. Kamaria could not tell the thoughts that were going through Senatla's mind, but by her expression, she could only imagine.

Kamaria was about to speak, though not quite sure of what to say, when Jethro started before her. Relieved, the male let her know that it was alright if she kept to her promise and while she still felt an urge to break it, she was glad that she would not have to. In fact, she was very glad that Jethro responded the way that he had because not only did he make the decision for her, but he also gave a wonderful impression of himself to both Senatla and Sewelo. If anything were to happen between Jethro and Kamaria, the lioness would be distressed if it upset her family.

When Jethro was finished speaking, Kamaria cleared her throat and finally responded, "I appreciate that, Jethro." Kamaria said with a half smile in the male's direction. It was obvious by her gaze that she wished to be in his company, but knew this was the better choice for the situation. Looking down towards Sewelo, Kamaria continued, "You are very right, Sewelo! Promises are supposed to be kept and your aunt was being silly! Now, lets head off to play! Your mom could certainly use the break!"

It was shameful, but Senatla honestly had begun to believe her sister was really going to break the promise and leave with the new male. Normally she didn't think badly of others, unless they were firekin, but the lioness couldn't help it. While she felt she had done a good job hiding it, she didn't think that her sister had picked up the gesture of her foot, something she did when she was upset but couldn't show it.

A little sigh of relief escaped her nose when the lion said he'd leave. If it wasn't for the promise, she would have been better with her sister going off and having fun. It was selfish on her own part as well for her son and for the lesson that needed to be learned as well. With light guilt, she gave the lion a smile, a little thank you.

Sewelo was unaware of anything going on with adults, just that he was promised playtime and the mean new male had somehow made her want to leave him! Looking away a moment, the lion redeemed himself when he said he earned the time. Innocently, he asked, "Do I have to fight him every time?" Sure, it would be fun, but he didn't want to fight to see his aunt.

Brightening up when he was agreed with, you shouldn't break promises. Smiling, he nuzzled his aunt's leg instantly forgiving, "I would have been sad. Yeah, lets play!" He 'tagged' Kam's paw and ran towards his den.
