Eiru stepped out of the shop, dust swirling behind him as the door closed. A paper rose, he mused to himself. What would Airu think of this...? Or anyone else for that matter? A man wealthy as me with something so... so... crude as this? The sun was starting to disappear from the horizon, streaks of gold and dusty red fell against his white hair. He glanced at the "meeting" spot, but of course, no one was there. Durem had quited down, but Eiru knew that soon it would be bustling again.. only this time with night life. He turned to the side and walked down the lonely street.
His position was high enough in the business to be excused for something like this, but repercussions were still to be had. It was no matter, he would make it up some other way...
--- the next day ---
A display of colors and scents unmatched displayed the front of Airu's flower shop - it attracted insects and people alike. It was hard to ignore how beautiful some of the flowers were, how supple and bright -- as if they were cared for like children. Eiru entered, sending the bell's jingles throughout the small store. A slender woman with pale skin and white hair, clad in a black dress and simple apron looked up from tending a potted plant. "Eiru.. what brings you here...?"
"Don't you notice something out of place...?" He lifted his hands to his sides, as if shrugging. Airu stared intently but didn't see anything... Then she let out a little gasp, pointing at the paper rose. "Why are you wearing something like that? Did you make it...? You know I could give you a real rose if you needed it...!" He let out a soft chuckle. "No Airu, some strange woman in a shop gave me this. For free."
He laid his briefcase against some plants, and sat down on the chair in the corner of the shop... smirking at his sister's confused face. "I thought you could help me figure out why I am so attached to this... worthless thing?" She went back to tending the plants, quiet due to being deep in thought. After a few minutes of silence from both sides, she looked up and said, "Maybe because its a reminder of our past...?" Eiru didn't react, he simply stared out the window, solemn.
---
A clean and crisp office: papers organized neatly, pens sitting straight in their proper cup, no signs of crumbs... Activity continued beyond a thin door, people back and forth with a since of duty. Responsibility. Accomplishment.
The office was empty. In fact, if you looked closely, the office appeared... lonely. There was nothing personal about the whole room - no posters, no pictures, not even an empty mug of coffee. A nameplate sat lazily upon the desk, slightly dusty due to not being moved nor noticed. A stack of business cards was propped up against its side. Everything was in the correct place... except...
A small glass vase (would you even call it a vase? Perhaps a mere.. cup?) was placed near the left edge of the desk, but not too near -- for fear it would fall. Inside it stood a poorly crafted rose, held up by a metallic stem, and held together by a blue ribbon. How depressing.. who would display something like that...?
The door opens and a man with silver-like hair and blood red eyes steps in.
