Grumbling slightly to himself, Faras bushed the sodden hair out of his eyes and stared out into the empty street. Of COURSE it has to rain. Of course. Folding his wings around his body as a form of protection aganst the icy bullets, he plunged headfirst into the torrential downpour.

He TRIED to hug the sides of the buildings and use shelter whenever possible, but within a few short minutes he was soaked to the bone. Taking shelter under a shops awning for a few minutes, he thought of the choices he had.

One. Walk home. Well...if he didn't mind being half-drowned and catching pneumonia, that was the best choice.
Two. Fly home. Since that was about as fun as reading a book about the history of cod....
Three. Wait the storm out.

Yes. The last one sounded nice. Pushing the door to the nearset shop open, he was welcomed by a blast of warm air. Wringing his hair out to keep him from dripping too much water on the floor, he entered.

What he saw in that small shop was very interesting. Items ranging from ornamental knife-rests to stuffed racoons could be seen. Wandering through the maze of item-laden shelves, his eye was drawn to a single object. An egg slightly larger than the size of two fists was perched between a candleholder and a stack of coasters. The egg seemed to be rather disgruntled. Picking it up carefully, he managed to find the desk where all the sales were apparently made. An old cash register sat upon the battered wooden dsesk, mostly covered by scraps of papers.

Reclining in an old wooden chair, a man, presumably the owner, was taking a nap. Faras cleared his throat in an attempt to wake him. No good. "Excuse me..? Hello?....OI!" The owner leaped out of his chair at the loud exclamation.

"What? Couldn't you see I was sleeping?" he groweled.

"I was just wondering...How much is this?" Faras asked, holding up the egg.

:>:<:>:<:>:<:>:<:>:<:>:<:>:<

Stumbling through the front door, Faras deposited his purchase on a nearby peice of furniture before wandering down the hall to get a towel. Upon finding a dry towel, he started vigorously drying his hair with it and headed back towards the living room.

He made it to his destination, and then promptly collaspsed onto the couch when he got there.

"What...is this?" a voice asked. Peering from underneath the curtain of hair and towel, he stared at Suboshi, the woman who was staring at the egg with a raised eyebrow.

"An egg." he replied, returning to the toweling of his hair.

"Well yes, I see that, but what is it doing here? And what are we supposed to do with it?"

"...Sit on it?"

Sian

Sian pranced into the shop with Malise close behind. They had just gotten back from the store and both of them had two brown paper bags Stuffed with candy. "Think we got enough?"

Malise fluttered into the shop after Sian, her bag of candy weighing her down a bit. "I dunno Sian, I think we could have gotten more..."

Suboshi-sama

Right. Egg. Hatch it? Sit on it? Whatwhatwhat?!?! Subo was very confused. So confused, in fact, that she ended up walking through town in the wrong direction and walking into the wrong store.

Of course, she really didn't realize this untill she had been walking through the store for several minutes. Looking around aimlessly, it finally dawned on her that she has misplaced herself.

She shifted the egg that was the source of the confusion to the crook of her elbow, and began to wander around the store, this time not so aimlessly.

Sian
Sian walked into the room where Subo was and dropped her bag of candy. Okay no, Sian had not expected to meet someone in the house; and yes Sian is a chicken. After getting her bearings and realizing that her brain's screams of: OMG THERE IS A MURDERER IN MY HOUSE!! Was not true, she kneeled down and tried to pick up the candy without the person seeing.

Malise watched Sian jump almost a meter in the air and started to snicker when she dropped her candy. She slowly lofted down to the ground to watch Sian pick up her candy. "Smooth."

Suboshi-sama
Startled by the sound of the bag hitting the floor, Subo jumped, and slowly turned around, nearly dropping her egg in the process. What was the stuff that came spilling out of the bag? Bullets? Hand grenades? CANNONS?
This, clearly, was not her day. Vehemently wishing for her mother, she looked shiftily around, before clearing her throat.
"Uhm...."

mysterian
"Oh my! I'm sorry to have startled you... but you startled me!" Sian let out a bit of a twinkly embarassed laugh. Her cheeks turhed a bit of a light pink which contrasted with her pale skin.

Malise giggled, "you're funny Sian."

Suboshi-sama

"Aaahh.....Sorry about that..." Subo replied sheepishly, trying to settle the egg more firmly in the crook of her elbow.

Sian
Sian finished picking up her candy, "It's no problem really." She stood up slowly while cracking her back in the process and noticing the egg in Subo's arm. "I'm Sian by the way... Would you like some candy?"

"I'm not sharing..."

Suboshi-sama
"Subo." She said, dipping hear head in a sort of informal bow. "Aaah, no thanks. Sugar doesn't really agree with me." was her response as she made a slight face.

Sian
Sian grinned, "ah more for me then. So I see that you are holding one of our eggs."

Suboshi-sama
"Your eggs? Weelll I suppose so...." she said absently, peering down at the mentioned egg.

Sian
"Well not MINE in particular... Ow..." Sian made a wincing face as she said the last bit and then continued. "We sell eggs like those here."

Suboshi-sama

Ah. Well, that made a bit more sense. "Ah.." she said, glancing down at the egg again. "Well, if they arent't your eggs, although it'd be rather silly if they were, who's are they?"

[Journal Entry]

I FINALLY broke down and bought a journal. Or a diary. Or whatever. I actually bought three, but shhhh.. It's supposed to help you 'release your innermost feelings' says a friend. But..yeah.

So, I have an egg now. I have absolutly NO idea what it is or where it's from, but I guess I haffta take care of it untill it hatches..
.....and after, too, I suppose.

And call me crazy, but I think it's MOCKING me. Just sitting there STARING at me with this smug air around it. Eggs can't stare though! Arrghhhhhh.

;_; So yes, it seems that I have finally snapped.

Oh joy.

The egg sat. It had persuaded the humans to name it 'Hateya'. Of course, they really didn't realize this, but oh well.
The egg continued to sit.
Well, this was certaily uneventful.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Nova ran. No not ran, FLEW. She was an airplane. Making the 'whrrr'ing noises of an airplanes propellers, she sped around the house with the speed of an aircraft three thousand feet in the air!
Skidding to a halt, she paused from her rantic race around the house to catch her breath. Looking around for a passenger for Airline Nova, she spotted an egg.
Perfect!
Making a sling out of a towel, she carefuly secured it, and tied the free ends around her neck, settling the egg between her small wings.
"Ready for takeoff!" she said, before resuming her 'flight'.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Well, this was certaily interesting. The egg/Hateya 'leaned back' and enjoyed it's first bout of movement other than that of it being moved around to be kept safe.
The egg/Hateya enjoyed this. S/He/It hoped that the small one would do this more often.
It, of course, ended too soon. Radiating waves of displeasure, S/He/It 'sulked' as a pair of larger hands removed it from the small one's back, setting it back down somewhere 'safe'.

...Curses.

Hateya was bored. The small one couldn't reach her/him/it anymore, so no more flying anymore. Sigh.
Although, the thing it was placed on was rather interesting. It had many bumps and curves (although it constricted Hateya to the place she was placed, she still entertained herself by trying to get OVER them. No success as of yet.) and Hateya KNEW somehow that it was nice and shiney.
She thinks she might like shiney.

The egg rocked slightly. A crack slowly traced it's way down the length of the shell, breaking the design on it in half. A chip fell, bouncing off of the counter and onto the floor. Soon, larger and larger peices of shell followed, until eventually, the remainder of the shell burst open, sending shards of shell flying across the room.

A small girl uncurled herself from the place the egg used to be. A pair of blueish-purple wings unfolded from her back. Penetrating blue eye darted around the room. Hopping off of the counter, she silenty padded around the empty house, digging through closets, until she found what she was looking for. Tugging the cloth over her head, she turned around and hopped back to the counter, stuffing long boots on her feet.

Dragging a chair over to the place where she used to rest, she grabbed the thing she pulled the book she had been sitting on off of the counter, and wandered off.

Well, it was night time, and as what usually happens, Arrakis snuck out of the house. She knew Elf would be worried to see the child gone, but she didn't really care. Besides, the dragon had never been caught yet.

Arrakis danced/ran through the night. Her exotic dress fluttered behind her, as did her long, silky hair. The dragon hummed, and the stars seemed to shimmer in response to her song. She was so caught up in it, that Arrakis almost missed the song on the wind.

The dragon was special, she could hear the life force, per say, of other Mysterians. Unconsciously, Arrakis danced in the direction. When she discovered that she was following another song, the dragon stopped in her tracks. Her dress and bangles jittered angrily from the abruptness of the action.

The song Arrakis heard was almost exactly like hers, but yet it wasn't. It was a distorted version, so different from her own melody. The notes intrigued her, and so Arrakis made her way until she came to a house.

Lifting her head, Arrakis surveyed the overgrown appearance. It didn't bother her, though, she was comfortable in almost any environment, except for the ocean, naturally.

Quietly, Arrakis walked to the front porch and sat in the bench. She swayed, it crinkled a little in protest, but the child persisted. Slowly, the rust broke away, giving away to an almost silent swing.

Arrakis sat there, watching the stars, and humming to the song of the Mysterian she knew was inside.

Hateya sat in the small library in the corner of the house, foot absentmidledly twitching to a silent tune as she scribbled something down in her journal. Setting the book down on a desk nearby, she hopped out of the chair she occupied, and wandered over to the window. Her eyes hardened and narrowed as she saw a figure approach the house and went on the porch, supposidly sitting on the swing by the creaks of the chains.

Grumbling to herself, she exited the library and headed towards the front door. Jerking it open somewhat angrily, she glared at the figure sitting on the bench.

"What do you want?" she snapped, irritated that she had been disturbed, but rather intrigued by the song the person was humming.

The song pounded in Arrakis's ears, as it usually did before she met the Mysterian it belonged to. Once she identified who the tune was a part of, the songs tended to become practically silent.

When the Mysterian threw open the door and demanded her presence, Arrakis leaned over the swing and smiled at the new 'arrival'. "I'm sorry, did I interrupt something? I hadn't meant to...."

Ruffling her wings slightly, Hateya stared at the girl on the bench a few moments, frowning slightly. "No, I guess not..." she mumbled. "But that still doesn't answer why you're here."

Arrakis shrugged and moved over discreetly just in case the other girl wanted to join her. "I go for a walk almost any night...but I heard a new song and decided to investigate...." The dragon eyed Hateya, more in fascination than anything, "Have you hatched recently? I am afraid I have not heard your.... met you before."

"Song?" she inquired, tilting her head to the side slightly. "I didn't hear anyone singing...." she trailed off, blinking slightly at her question. "I guess so....." she said, hesitatly moving towards the bench.

Arrakis chewed on a lip and toyed with a strand of hair. She figured not too long ago that she was the only one that heard the music in tangible -at least she could distinguish them- form. When she confronted Elf, she was just told that she was special, and like every other naive child, Arrakis believed her.

"Umm..." the dragon drug out her words, "I guess I was singing...?"
PostPosted: Sat Oct 08, 2005 6:12 pm

Hateya's eyes narrowed at the dragon-girl's forced response. "Ahuh.." she said suspiciously, crossing the few feet from the doorway to the bench and sitting down next to the girl.

Arrakis looked at Hateya and smiled, sort of in a 'let me tell you want I think' look. "Well, all Mysterians have a song, and I can hear those melodies. Your's intrigued me. You see, I am a dragon-type, and the before tonight, the closest song that I've recognized was Keira. I think that is because she is a dragon as well, even though a different type. But yours.... your song was so familiar, but yet incredibly different....!" Arrakis was fairly long winded and liked to talk. Her voice had a melodious flare to it, and hearing it subdued her urge to sing.
