She flicked the ear he had nibbled, as it tickled when he did so.
'Why not?' Sohalia asked him, stifling another yawn. She could tell he was getting as drowsy as she was, but she was still striving to stay awake. Talking might help, but only if he returned her conversation.
'That's a hope for me, not for you.' she commented after he spoke again. Her eyes were almost fully lidded now, and her head dropped, resting on one bent leg, her body finally giving in to her need for sleep.

Before going off to sleep completely, Vohamanah tried to get out, "I don't hope for anything. Looking ahead takes too much effort and makes people worry and despair. Never had a need to want...."
But, as the night waxed and morning came, Gabriela finally made it back to the clearing by the river. She came from the north east. She felt enormously glad to be back home again.
This teepee and it's surrounding acres were her home. It was a place where her heart and spirit felt safe. It was a sanctuary for her. It was normally so quiet and peaceful here. Sure, she loved Mythril, his family, the family she shared with Mythy; however, this gentle mare just wanted to have peace and quiet sometimes.
She walked slowly to the water to drink. She peered around. Everything seemed like normal, except for a smell. What was that smell? She walked softly following it. Something Taipa brought?
Then, when she peered round the side of the teepee, she saw her son. She smiled. Then, her eyes moved to the mare with him. She lowered her head with a smile and walked as quietly as she could away. She went back to the river.
So.... Vohamanah has found someone who can be precious to him. She was glad.

Sohalia only just heard his words, and wouldn't know whether or not she had just dreamt them when she woke...
The mare started awake, looking around her as if she had heard something, or even scented someone strange. She couldn't see what could have disturbed her, although as she cast a glance across and skywards she could see colour filtering along the horizon, as the sun slowly made its way into the sky again.
Maybe it was only morning that had woken her, though why so suddenly she could only attribute to the fact she was somewhere strange. She relaxed a little once she had checked around them again from where they were laying, and nudged Vohamanah softly.
'It's morning..' she whispered. Really she didn't want to wake him, but she also didn't want to bump into any of his family without him beside her.

Vohamanah took more than one stirring to come out of his sleep. He rubbed at his eyes with his knee on his front leg. Then, he started to peek an eye open. Sohalia... His pupils widened as he smiled. He was so glad that she was the first thing he saw when he woke up.
~Boy, I could really get used to that... Her face being what I wake up to everyday. Have her smell all around me...~
Then, he remembered she wouldn't want to be alone. As his eyes focused more, he realized she was feeling quite awake. There would be nothing for it, but for him to get up. Maybe he would just sleep early later that night.
Vohamanah pushed himself up, his wings stretching out. Once up he flexed each knee joint and flung his tail to each side far as it would go. Would he look strange in front of her, for doing all this?
"Well.. how bout us get ourselves a drink? River water is very cool in the mornings."
But, as he came round the side towards the river. He saw his mother. Then, he stepped back and looked at Sohalia. He wondered if she would be ready.
"Sohalia... my mother has returned." He said it in almost a whisper. His tone gave caution and warning, hoping to prepare her in case she wanted to change her mind before they were already out and face front.

Sohalia was very wide awake. Her legs were complaining more and more, and she had to stand and stretch them. She nudged him again before standing, shaking her mane out, flicking her tail and moving slowly around on the spot, flexing her legs to rid herself of the pin feeling that she had gotten.
'I could use a drink,' she admitted, following him, though she could find it herself, the sound of the running water and the scent..something else stopped her though, before Vohamanah even spoke. She realised now that this was what had woken her, the mare must have walked past them to get to the river.
'Okay..' she nodded, looking at him. It was too early for this, and she'd not long been awake, but maybe that was for the best. She would meet his mother sooner, rather than later in the day after spending hours fretting about it.

Vohamanah smiled. He felt extremely proud of her. He knew that it must be a moutain of effort for her to not want to run away. Unless.. she did want to run, and somehow, she managed to keep herself from doing so. Either way, he felt it was very admirable she didn't.
He walked then slowly but a little ahead of her, to let her hide behind him if she needed it. "Morning mother..." He then had a big smile on his face. His greeting was mixed with pleasure to see his mother and anxiety for Sohalia's feelings in the matter.
However, Gabriela was a quiet and pleasant spirit. Her ears twitched as she heard them moving. Their approach also she could smell and feel the gentle echo in the earth of their footsteps.
She lifted her head from the river to look at them both with eyes full of kindness and motherly love. "Ah, welcome home my son. It's nice when you decide to come back for a while."
Then, her eyes moved to the mare. She remembered meeting Mythril's family. She felt incredibly shy herself. Even till this day, she sometimes felt rather shy and subdued in the presence of Glory, Mythril's mother. Glory was incredibly kind and accepting, but Gabriela never wanted to take that for granted.
She simply nodded her head with all the grace she could muster. "Hello there young mare. Welcome to our home... My name is Gabriela."
She took a small step forward, but she stopped halfway to them. She wouldn't be intrusive. She wanted to allow the girl to approach her if she liked. Or not... if she didn't.

Sohalia might have been tempted to run, only she hadn't been keeping faithful track of the journey they had made to get here. She would no more run away blindly than ever be comfortable meeting someone's family, this felt as though she was making some sort of large step with Vohamanah; wasn't meeting the family what you did with the one you form a strong relationship with?
Her body language showed the discomfort she was feeling, her tail swished and her ear had flattened. 'Thank you.' she said, her eyes flicking over the peach flutter mare. She was beautiful, and she could definately see his mother when she looked at Vohamanah now.
'I am Sohalia. I hope we are not disturbing you?'
Usually she would hold that back when she met someone new, they would only get to know her name after a while of talking, and that would be about all they got from her. But she wanted to be polite, and she had a feeling from Vohamanah's expression that he loved his mother very much, so being rude wouldn't make a good impression.

Vohamanah stepped up in between them, his wings flapping gently with joy.
"Mother. This is Sohalia. I met her when I was out on my latest adventure. I hope it will be ok. I brought her to live out here with us. She was all by her lonesome." He made a grimacing face when he said that last part.
He then glanced back at her and smiled. He sure did feel more and more glad she came.
Gabriela stood there patient and understanding not saying too much. She watched his mannerisms, and she watched the dark mare.
"Well, it's my pleasure to meet you Miss Sohalia. Of course, you are welcome to stay here as long as you like. You'll find our herd is very small.. compared to some rather large ones. My mate is from a very large herd. I go there sometimes; but in the end, I prefer this nice and serene little place."
She smiled at them both. When she saw how he looked at his pretty black mare; she had to smile. She wondered if he realized his own feelings. Had he spoken them to this lovely girl? What if he did already? Either way, she felt proud of him. How grown up he was now...

Sohalia bit firmly on her tongue as Vohamanah introduced her further to his mother. To live with them? That was a little presumptious for a start. She might relocate one day, possibly after she had worked out her tangled feelings for him, but right here, with so many others about and a human? She would have to be more trusting than she could ever imagine herself to be, far more than she was being right now, and this was testing her.
The fact that her described as 'being on her lonesome'..that nettled her as well. Yes, she'd admitted that to herself, and she also to him, but to have him lay it out in such a way in front of another who was a complete stranger to her. Well she wasn't exactly pleased. The only way it showed though was in her tail, which flicked rather more than it had done previously.
Sohalia realised that Gabriela had spoken, and as it wasn't her fault that her son was being a tad hasty, she replied in a polite manner. 'Likewise. And thank you, you are very accommodating, and this is a very pleasant spot. However, I would never wish to intrude on family life, and..well, I must be honest that barring your son, I find it easier to be apart from others.'
Sohalia would enjoy company if it didn't bring the inevitable questions; questions of ones home and background. She knew that Vohamanah might be worried that she would leave again, she wouldn't but she would have words with him in private as she needed him to slow his pace a little.

Gabriela thought at that moment perhaps she was intruding. Maybe the two needed more time together. She felt her son seemed in part that he obviously wanted the dark mare; but at the same time, he wasn't exactly overflowing with declarations of love. Did he need to sort out feelings that seemed plain as day to her? Maybe.. males were sometimes a bit thickheaded.
"Actually, I don't see Taipa here. I bet she went to visit the medicine man. I think I'm gonna try to go find her. Just in case she needs help." She smiled gently at them both, trotting off gracefully just as she had arrived.
Vohamanah listened and nodded. He had been feeling enthusiastic and overly optimistic. His optimism when brimming over sometimes made him presumptuous. He would start to just assume things would turn out the way he believed they would.
He then turned around to go nuzzle on Sohalia. "Well.. it's still early. You wanna rest some more? Or, we can just go for a walk. Follow the stream for a while."
His smile was present in all its glory. His wings sprung up indicating he was getting rather caught up in the over stimulating feelings he had. He was already caught up in a funnel of hormones and growing feelings with Sohalia. Bringing her to his home, and she met his mother. Surely she would feel accepted right away. Surely, she would feel at home. Right?

Sohalia watched Gabriela leave with an unreadable expression on her face. That had been easier than she had thought it would be, but it must have been down to who she was. The mare hadn't pried, and she knew that mothers did that when their children bought someone new along with them. Maybe his mother would question him later when Vohamanah was on his own.
'We'll follow the stream, walk and talk. There are some things I want to discuss with you.' she said, flicking him a look. She stepped towards the river and took a long drink first, her ears constantly flicking whilst she was in the vulnerable position.
'Let's go..' she said, walking along the gently winding bank, her tail trailing behind her.

Vohamanah was feeling as if everything was going quite swimmingly. He was feeling beyond fantastic. He was smiling broad and his wings flitting every so often.
Though the tone of her voice and that look. He felt a tinge of alarm. Huh? What was that? What's that supposed to mean? Well, she wasn't running away. That made him feel better she wasn't running. That bode well.
Then, he was thinking about when he first met her. Maybe his optimism was overwhelming her again. Maybe he ought to cool it a little, though he couldn't help it much.
He trotted right after her. "Yeah. Whatever you want, Sohalia."
There it was. That feeling of wanting to make her happy and keep her around. It was what it was. He started to feel that thought taking shape in his mind. He wanted to smile and just assume everything would go just fine. His optimism wanted to sing the songs of how she would be with him forever and ever. How she wouldn't ever leave him.
But then.. there was the matter of earning her trust... and also a matter of her not just staying.. but staying because she wanted to.. and not just to prove something to him.. or to herself... but... Really.. his heart didn't want to think about that type of stuff. That was too realistic. It invited considering that things could go any other way than what he hoped. Thinking like that was just something he couldn't steer himself towards.

'It's just..' Sohalia began as Vohamanah fell into step beside her.
'It was hearing you tell your mother about my being alone, and that I was coming here to live with you all, before we'd even gotten that far to discuss it!' she let out a breath after getting it all out.
'I like you Vohamanah, don't mistake me, but I will not be rushed. At all..' she paused, coming to a halt and turning to look directly at the handsome flutter. She smiled, with her eyes and her mouth, a genuine smile.
'Let me come to you in my own time. I assure you, I will be worth the wait. And I will stay in this area, I promise, I'm not about to turn tail and run away. There is something there, I feel it. I feel alot for you.'

Vohamanah slowed his pace down. When she stopped and turned to look at him, he felt as though his heart just fell into his throat.. or.. out somewhere. The look of her eyes. He felt ensnared by those eyes.. the smile.. the scent... the feeling of her sleeping next to him.
His ears twitched and faced forward. He sobered up a little. He had been rather carried away. It was his manner to get caught up in something. He could see then perhaps he hadn't been wise or careful with that exchange.
Her words brought some comfort to him. The worry of her running away was now put to ease. His optimism felt there was absolutely no reason not to have complete trust in her. She seemed very much a mare of her word. Trust meant a lot to her; so naturally, she wouldn't cross her own words to another.
Inwardly, he felt this confusing feeling. He stepped forward and back. This uncertainty of what was going on made him feel a tad restless. To just... wait... in this feeling of ... not being able to just be completely certain of something... That put him in an usual feeling. Maybe it was his turn. She had her moment of discomfort, and now he was having his.
Not knowing what to say... not knowing what to do but stand there and look at her. He stepped up then closer to her. He swayed his head to the side, to gently almost brush against her, but his head wasn't quite touching.
He softly said, "I'm sorry. I got too carried away in my excitement and optimism. I will respect your space, Sohalia." A soft, quiet voice, full of emotions and vigor.
What could a stallion do to feel like this...

Sohalia continued to look at him, in a searching manner, waiting for him to speak. His silence continued for a long time, she didn't think she had said anything that was too discouraging, so she could only assume that he was taking in what she had said, and was thinking about it carefully before replying.
She was encouraged and pleased when he stepped close but respected her boundaries enough not to push directly against her. This meant she could make her own gesture, in her own time and she tugged oh so gently on a strand of his mane.
'Tell me..what do you feel for me?' she asked, her eyes fixed still firmly on him, before moving off again, slowly walking along the river bank, moving her gaze from him to the ground before her so that she didn't inadvertantly wander into the water.
'I know you feel something, even someone like me can read your body language.'
