"I never once owned an oil." Azalea shrugged. She was about to explain the story that she had gathered from Phoenix when they had met when Ment was suddenly distracted by a pink-haired young one that reminded her distinctly of bubblegum. Perhaps that was because he smelled so strongly of it. She decided to wait for a few moments to let them reunite before she would begin speaking again.

She knit her brows at Pollux's statement and was about to question how this was all going on. However, Phoenix decided to speak instead before Azalea could get any words out. "I just existed one day, so I went to the place that smelled familiar." Xe nodded, trying to answer Ment's confused question. "That was the hospital, where New Ma works. She was playing with a few chemicals and trying to get them to mix, and I got them to mix already, so that's how we met. I gave the chemicals to her."

Dr. Brick nodded. "Right, that is how we met. I still don't understand how children can come out of oil, though. It doesn't make sense. No offense, Ment, and, erm, Polly, I assume?" Hopefully, the child didn't take offense. She just called him Polly since that was what the other boy had referred to him as. Hopefully it wasn't a special nickname that only Ment could call him or something of the sort.

Polly just hugged Ment back and giggled, nuzzling the older Scent's neck. When the other child interrupted, he frowned. Could they not see happy times going on?!

"Y'don' hafta unnderstand it," Polly reasoned, "Just hafta' accept it. I came outta oil. Ask my daddy!" Honestly, why did people have to be so closed-minded? If someone said they were born out of oil, then they were! If another person said it too, they especially were! It wasn't hard to understand!

Mirra seemed to blush a little, smiling over at the gentleman, her ears seeming to perk up a little bit. "I'm quite new to the area, my name is Mirra." she replied, relaxing a bit more as the people here seemed relatively friendly. "Saw there was some kind of event here and decided to stop by... I've been here once before and purchased a scent..." she explained, though it was obvious that hers hadn't 'grown' yet so to speak.

Turning them to Olivia, still smiling a bit. "Thank you for the welcome... I'm Mirra, just moved into the area awhile ago. Thought it would be good to atleast meet a few people in the area and since I'd been here before couldn't hurt to stop by again."

Samuel lifted Mirra's hand and kissed the top, as was his custom, before smiling to the woman.

"It's a pleasure to meet you. I am Samuel. Samuel Devereaux. May I inquire as to what scent you purchased?"

Ment nodded to Polly's statement sagely. Indeed, if they said it happened it happened. Of course Ment could explain it more thouroughly, but Polly did a good enough job on his own.

Ment listened to Phoenix's story and blinked a little worriedly. "That's a horrible thing to happen to you. At least you found someone to take care of you who seems to be rather nice." He smiled abit and looked up to Dr.Brick, "What's a hospital?"

---------

"Have you now?" Olivia said, raising a brow, "I must not have been working the register that day." She laughed abit, scratching the side of her neck embarrised. She really needed to start asking who Ment, Amryx and Adrian have been talking to so if anything came about fo their oils she'd at least know they were at her store once.

Polly's eyes widened at the question. His best friend didn't know what a hospital was? How strange!

As a scientist, not being given any details automatically bothered Dr. Azalea Brick. She couldn't just be told something existed. She had to know why, and she had to know how. Alas, perhaps it was best not to ask any further. This bubblegum boy seemed a bit stubborn in his point and also a bit unwilling to explain exactly what was going on, and the peppermint teenager seemed to agree with him. She would have to ask someone else for more detail.

Phoenix grinned and nodded at Ment before xir face fell. This boy didn't know what a hospital was? He was sheltered; he must have been. "A hospital is a place where people who are sick or injured go to be treated so they can get better," explained Phoenix, hopefully. "People who go to the hospitals can be helped with medicines and surgeries and other things like that. New Ma's a doctor, and that's why she works at a hospital. Doctors work at hospitals, after all."

Azalea chuckled, patting her child's head. "Yes, that's a good way to put it." She probably couldn't have worded it much simpler.

"Your mom works at that scary place?"Ment asked, looking a bit queasy as they described it to him. "'Livia said people go there when they die or something." It wasn't so much Ment was sheltered, but that the boy tended to listen to what he wanted to listen to when Olivia told him things. Therefore his knowledge of the world was generally incorrect half the time, but oh well.

Phoenix looked to xir mother. Perhaps she could explain this. Dr. Brick caught that Phoenix was handing the responsibility of explaining to her and groaned quietly, but shook her head and cooperated. It was important that Ment know these things, after all. "Well, no, not necessarily. I won't deny that people do die in the hospital, but a lot of people go there just to get help so they can continue to live. It's not so scary, really. A hospital is a good place."

Xe grinned. That was a good explanation of why it wasn't scary, right? "Yup. Hospitals aren't scary. They can be sad sometimes, but they aren't really scary. Plus, they're really clean! This one time--"

Azalea shushed xir. "Phoenix, dear, no stories."

The child clamped xir mouth shut and nodded in obedience. Once the urge to tell an unnecessary story passed, xe opened xir mouth again. "I go in the hospital all the time, and I haven't died yet. See? I'm not a zombie or anything." The medicinal child poked xirself to show that none of xir body parts were falling off.

Mirra smiled back over at Samuel, a little surprised at his greeting though it was refreshing for a change.

"I purchased the scent Holly Branches... reminded me of home. Though the smoke was doing some funny things when I lit it, still a little confused about that." she admitted, usually not being so sentimental about things, but allowed herself a few creature comforts.

Turning then to Olivia, thinking for a moment, trying to remember just who was there that day when she'd come to the shop. "Honestly, I can't remember who was there... which I'm embarassed to admit. Things have been so hectic moving that everything has all kinda blurred together, I'm sorry."

"Ring around th' rosie, pocket full of blind mice, running away with spoons, ashes, ashes, we all have blackbird pies..."

Maira twirled into the shop singing at the top of her lungs, utterly giddy. Jessabelle followed close behind, looking put-upon.

"Maira, not so loud, honey."

Maira looked up at Jess in anger, cutting herself off mid-word.

"I WANT to sing."

Jess sighed, rubbing her temples.

"I didn't say you couldn't. Just turn it down a little bit."

Maira brightened instantly, looking cheery again.

"I'm a good singer. The rocks in the garden say so."

And so Maira turned on her heel and wandered off into the crowd of people, saying hello to everyone and humming so loud she was making her skull vibrate.

Samuel's eyes went wide.

"Oh, Miss Mirra, I do hope you have room in your home for a child..." Eugh!

(( *throws Celyn and Carwyn in the mix for the fun of it* ))

"C'mon Dad!" The churro child had practically dragged his father all the way to the Solace Scents Spring Celebration, yanking his father's arm and pushing forward with his legs as hard as he could. Carwyn was not encouraging Celyn since Celyn had become shy and hadn't had much fun at the last celebration, but unfortunately, his protests were not enough to stop Celyn from wanting to go.

So, eventually, Carwyn gave in and allowed Celyn to drag him out of his house. Perhaps Celyn would have more fun this time than last time. "I'm coming, I'm coming..." He heaved, sighed, and trudged over to the door of Solace Scents. Celyn, gleeful that his father was finally seeing the fun of a party, opened the door and skipped in. Carwyn was, of course, obligated to follow. This better not be an expensive party. Carwyn still didn't have any money.

Celyn skipped into the crowd, braid swinging back and forth to its own rhythm. Was Kaoru there? He didn't see the pomegranate child. Perhaps someone else was there, though. Well, there were a whole bunch of people there. Hey, there was Phoenix! Xe was busy talking though. Hm... Where was that loud humming coming from? Celyn looked around for some source, getting lost in the small group of people.

Thankfully, Carwyn could still spot him. Letting him go on his way, the musician decided to search for some free food. If there was one thing parties were always good for, it was the free food.

Mirra just looked at him as if he'd gone crazy or something... not sure why he'd suddenly brought up children. Children were all find and dandy, though she was living alone currently, not to sure how she'd even end up with a child.

"Child? I don't mean to sound rude, but what do you mean child...? What do they have to do with the scent...?" she asked, obviously feeling very confused.

Samuel swallowed hard.

"Well, you see, I didn't entirely believe it myself, but upon lighting the oil you may find yourself...ah..." He paused. How did you put this to a stranger?

"A sweet-smelling child may have found its way into your care."
