Darsais grinned, a bit incredulous. "That classic?" she asked, fiddling with a few settings on her keyboard. A bit cliche, but... "Yeah, sure I can!" She licked her lips - not out of necessity but out of habit, and dropped a count-in on the cymbal. She listened for Silver to come in on the harmonica, and then began the piano part. She had adjusted the sound on the keyboard to be a bit richer and more organic - altogether more Piano and less electronic.
"It's nine o' clock on a saturday, the regular crowd shuffles in... There's an old man sitting next to me, making love to his tonic and gin..."
She knew this song by heart - it was one of the first ones she'd learnt to play, in fact. Everyone seemed to think it was a hoot to request it whenever she played, so she had to know it.
"La, la, de de daaaaah, la la de de dah, dah, dah..."

Silver will give a chuckle, and a nod. The harmonica will come from the speakers, and as she starts singing, he'll join in, his voice deep and husky, a faint smile on his lips, claws tapping lightly on the panel in front of him, eyes half closing. As the song came to the end, he'll smile a little. "Sorry chica. But if you play a piano, your going to get that request." He'll smile a little. "What other music do you play? And do you need any accompanyment for them, or can you pull them off yourself?"

"Well, if you've got a guitarist, I know how to accompany it. I think I was still with my band when you first contacted me? Kah-zoo? That didn't work out, but I do know how to play in one. I do my own drums," she said, pointing to the cymbal at her foot, "But I don't mind playing with someone else on a kit."
She pondered what exactly she couldn't do.
"I can't do metal," she said. "Not my style."
She snarled into the mic, a poor imitation of a lead singer in a metal band.
"See what I mean?" she asked sheepishly.

He'll give a chuckle, and wave her over to one of the tables, sitting down himself. "Well kid, you've got yourself an ongoing gig, if ya are interested that is. How about we talk about payment and compensation? And have something nice ta drink?" He'll smile, and wait for her to sit, hands folded on the table, a relaxed look on his face.

Darsais hopped off the stage and joined him at the table. "Really? Great! I'd love the job. I'm pretty much done with school, passed my equivalency test and everything, but I want to take some courses in fashion design up at the community college. I've almost got enough saved up, too."
She considered his offer of a drink. "Straight cola okay?" she asked. "None of that nasty diet stuff. It's like poison to me."

Whistling, he'll just smile. "Na, its more or less we'll work around your schedule for school. Now, what are you thinking for payment? I can do a per gig payment, or we could make it a flat monthly fee, with an agreed upon amount of work a month." He'll look throughtfully at her a moment, and pulled out a pad of paper and a pen, ready to take some notes.
From a door behind the bar slithered, well a woman. She was a busty, pale woman from the waist up, wearing a very tight tanktop and with short, spiky black hair. She'll smile upon seeing silver, and then give a devilish grin when she saw Dar, slithering over a little faster, curling herself around the table to 'stand' next to her chair, almost purring. She spoke with a slight accent, though it was hard to place. "Silver, who is this. Our new musician. She looks just delicious. I could just eat her up....Even if she does look like jailbait." She'll give a devilish grin aimed at Dar, and a wink.

"Per gig," said Darsais. "That's how I've been paid before and I like how it works."
She looked up at the snake woman and jumped a bit in surprise. "Uh, hi." she said, a bit indignantly. She'd been called jailbait before, but... "I'm Darsais."
Somewhat awkwardly, she returned the wink.

Silver will nod, and sighed and chuckled at the woman. "Dar, this is one of my two randy bartenders, Sralana, but you can just call her lana. If your not careful, she'll try to seduce you into a room alone with her and the other bartender Sralara and have their way with you. So watch out. Unless you like that sort of thing." He'll go back to his paper, making some notes. "Lana, could you bring me a glass of the Blue?" He won't even look up, smiling slightly as he writes.
Lana pouted as Silver spoke, and leaned in a little to wisper in Dar's ear. "Don't mind what he says. If you ever want to have some fun, just come find us. What can i get for you, sexy lil thing?"

"Plain cola," answered Darsais, a bit more meekly than she would have liked. She scooted a bit away from the woman, clearly uncomfortable.
"And I prefer to be called Darsais," she added, finding her voice again. Might as well put a stop to anything like that before it even started. She made a mental note to avoid the bartenders at all costs until she got her sea legs.

Lana chuckled, and reached out to ruffle her hair. "Darsais it is then. If the teasing ever gets to be too much, just say it and we'll back of. Its all a game sugar, unless ya want it ta be more. Welcome ta the Nights Portal." Smiling, she slithered off back behind the bar, returning with a coke for Dar, and a glass of some dark amber liquid for Silver. Smiling, he took a sip, and looked at Dar.
"So, how old are you, by the by? Forgot to ask that." He'll look at his notes, and then looked back up at her, waiting a moment.

Darsais smoothed her hair and took a sip of her soda. She thought about it for a moment. "Well, I was born on Gaia, which I guess always complicates things," she said, "No one I know who was born here ages like people who were born off-world. Chronologically, I'm... I guess a little more than two years old. Technically I'm defined as being in the teen phase of my life cycle."
She looked down at her drink. She didn't know if she'd ever get past being a teen. It had been so long since she had heard from the labs... she supposed they'd been disbanded by now.

"I meant Biologically. Well, if Biologically counts for you, with the robot bits." Smiling playfully, he'll take a sip of his drink. "For payment, per gig, I was thinking 15,000 gold a gig to start, with bonuses included, at my discression. So no complaining when you get one, got it? Food and drink are on the house." Closing his eyes, he'll think a moment, waiting to let Dar reply.

"That sounds great," said Darsais, eyes gleaming. With money like that, she could pay for school AND move out of the house on Gambino! "How often do you want me to play?"

"Twice a month to start. Also, if you want, one of the perks I offer is low rent apartments. Figure if your lookin for a job, your looking for a place ta live on your own. Gods know I was at your age." Chuckling, he'll pull a piece of paper out of his pocket, unfolding it, and noting down some stuff on lines. "Can you do the first one the 1st of the month? And whats your last name?"

"Starling," Darsais said. The offer sounded good to her. "S-t-a-r-l-i-n-g. I think my mother made it up when she moved here. And my first name is 'D-a-r-s-a-i-s'. It sort of sucked learning to spell it when I was little."
She strongly suspected her mother had made her first name up, too.
"And yeah, sure thing I can start the first of the month. That's coming up, isn't it?" she asked.
