"Pah, birds." Ziarre waved a paw dismissively. "Not like those are much good for eating anyways, too full of feathers and not enough meat."
"Fancy titles, hmm?" Ziarre twitched an ear herself at the thought. "Well, if I'm getting one myself, I suppose I could learn everyone else's to be fair. Although..." She quirked a brow curiously. "What did this lioness do that irked him so much? Run off and have cubs with the wrong male or...one of them?"

"Fira?" Her tone became slightly derisive and there was a strange look on her face, half annoyed and half amused. "She's an aggravating, condescending, provocative brat of a lioness. It takes a lot to get me riled up, but I am no fan of hers. The final straw, I believe, was when Fira went off and got pregnant to try and get me demoted to cubsitter, all in the name of 'helping the pride population' of course," she snorted. "Sufficed to say, the plan backfired and now she'll be stuck raising her little brats."

Kioo couldn't hold back a small grin. "Zaliwa is stubborn, hard-headed and full of himself, but he's no idiot. Still, I never once had a regular conversation with that lioness. We may have just met, but I'm pretty confident when I say you won't get on his bad side."

Ziarre couldn't help it...she burst out laughing as Kioo told her tale of the backfired plan. "Oh, that's rich! I wish I could have seen her face when he told her just what she could do, I bet it was priceless. I just hope she doesn't take it out on the poor things when she has them...I might not know a thing about cubs, but they don't deserve to be punished for her own damn mistake." She snorted derisively before perking with interest. "That sounds promising...where is this tribe of yours, anyways?"

"Oh, she'll be supervised," she said, smirking. "I'm only worried that the cubs will receive her genes!"

"Far away," she said with a soft, amused snort. "It's in a valley somewhere in the mountains. The place sounds rather nice, actually, but I don't know if it's truly so beautifull, or if Zaliwa's pride in his homeland makes it sound that way. Either way, it'll be a change of pace. That reminds me, though. The tribes are all separated, and I believe they only come together for meeting and for rituals. Right now I'm sure they'll be together, since there are so few lions, but once the population is a bit bigger, that's something to take into consideration. It means you wouldn't have to deal with Fira or anyone else that might rub you the wrong way."

"Even better," Ziarre replied, tail starting to twitch like the cat that'd just eaten the canary. A pride that wouldn't interfere with her view of things, and solitude if and when she wanted it? It sounded like just her thing. "Looks like I should start walking, then. There anything I should say so that they don't think I'm some random stray off the savannah?" Not that she wasn't, but she figured Kioo would know what she meant.

"I'm glad it'll suit you," she said sincerely. It wasn't her thing, not in the long run, but everyone needed a place to belong and the Aali'makabila catered to a particular kind of lion. "You can come with me and I'll introduce you to Zaliwa. There's, let's see, Zaliwa, Fira, her sister Nyana, her brother Kamau, myself, and Zaliwa's dhaifu, a maned wolf named Kapienga. Dhaifu is the term used for slave. Non-lions are only in the pride to serve others."

So, it appeared her lone traveling was at an end again. Ziarre wasn't very disappointed, though...a tribe that shared her views? It was hard to believe, even though she had been told so quite plainly. "So even they know their place? A rarity! I never thought I'd see the day."
PostPosted: Mon May 19, 2008 1:05 am

"Well, I don't know about that," Kioo said, smiling. "But for the time being, they follow orders. Not they, I suppose, but she. Kapienga is the only dhaifu in the pride at the moment."

"Well, then, if you don't have anything you need to do first, I'll take you to Zaliwa." Kioo stood up, offering another smile. She felt that Ziarre was awfully different than she was, and yet she felt more of a connection with her than with anyone else she had met so far. That was some blessing, at least.

"Well, as long as the lions outnumber these dhaifu then I don't think we'll have to worry about any sort of revolt. And personally, if one backtalked me I wouldn't put up with it. But anyways...no, I don't really have anything that needs doing. My last traveling companion was pleasant enough, but I was quite happy to find my own way after meeting the strangest god I've ever heard of." Inwardly, she hoped that she'd fit in at this place, rather than be shunned for views that had been proven right in her eyes time and again. "If you'll lead the way, I'll follow."

"God, huh?" She chuckled to herself. "I've heard mention of gods from Zaliwa, but it seems he's never even seen them, so I don't think you have anything to worry about there."

She began to walk away, her pace easy and light. Kioo silently wished more lions like Ziarre would join.
