"I gotcha!" He shouted happily, yipping at Rayna from atop her back. He started to slide off then as her coat was slick with water, but she gently set him down and began to swim into deeper water. Toao wanted to run after, but soon it was almost over his head. Whinning softly, he called out for Rayna to return. "Rayna!"Rim watched from the sand and yawned, stretching and laying down to watch the pair play. Toao was so brave, he liked water, darkness, everything. As far as she knew he wasn't afraid of anything! Unlike her... She was weaker then him, but he was the helping hand and support that Rayna needed.
Smiling to herself, the fox stretched out her wings to let them dry against the sand and began to drift off into a deep slumber.

Waves crashed against Rayna as she got into deeper water. What am I doing? Why am I way out here? She thought for a while and then swam back to Toao. The sun had gotten darker and now it wasn't quite so bright. His plead brought her back mindlessly. She knew what was going on around her, but she was in a whole 'nother world.

He called out to her again, "Rayna!" This time though, something was weird, off, his voice was much deeper. Puzzled, he cleared it and looked down into the water. There was a reflection of a much bolder more mature looking fox. Then it clicked, this was him! He jumped back in suprise, and then laughed with a little joy, tail brisking across the water's surface.
Soon Rayna was before him, he lunged out at her, tackling her into the water. "Look at me Rayna! I'm fully growned." He liked her softly on the ear.

She stared at him as he tackled her. She was still in another world, a world of her own. Her eyes were strained, she hadn't blinked in a long time. Blink, Blink, Blink! Finally, her eyes closed themselves for about 5 seconds. Unwillingly, she opened them and responded. "Why yes, you are Toao. You are now a mature fox that is ready to choose his own path and make commitments." She smiled. "Choose wisely, for you won't always get a second chance."

He stared down at the girl he stood over, confused and worried. "What do you mean Rayna? Are you okay?" He moved back off her and nudged her gently. "What are you talking about?" Concern was written very obviously on his face, with his ears pulled back slightly from the worry.

She shook her head as she stood. Rayna was very dizzy for some reason. "Huh? What? Yeah, I'm fine." She shook her cat a little and held a long blink again. "I'm just gonna go lay on the beach for while..." She stood up and her legs wobbled as she barely made it to shore. There, she collapsed. "You wanna come, too?"

He watched her cautiously, though she said she was fine, whatever was happening to her now was certainly not fine. Then, she struggled toward the shore. He stayed beside her, pushing his body up against hers protectively. I won't let anything happen to her! He swore silently to himself.
Then she collapsed and he was there beside her. Catching her lightly with his head, he lowered her body to the sand. "Rayna, you're not okay, what's wrong?" This was said sternly, no more games were going to be played upon him, he wasn't a kit no more.Rimi had been slumbering silently, but a thump from the sand in front of her awoke her. Yawning slightly while she stretched, she pried open on eye and stared out before her. In her field of vision was both Rayna and Toao, but two things were off. One, Toao had seemed to grow to his adult form while she'd slept. Two, Rayna was collapsed on the ground.
Hurriedly she joined Toao and peered over Rayna. "What's going on here?! Rayna, can you hear me?"

Rayna yawned. "I'm fine. Really, Toao." She curled up on her side.
"Hi Rimi, yeah, I can hear you. Where've you been?" She laughed a little and stayed curled up, but she wrapped her tail around herself.

Toao began to become frantic. "No you're not, why are you lieing to me Rayan!" He felt an immediate sense of hurt that could be heard through his voice at it quickly rose into high octives.
He pushed Rimi aside gently, protecting Rayna. "Rayna, come on, speak to me!" He closed his eyes, nudging against her side a little harder then he wished to. "Please..." Tears were beginning to form in the young males' eyes. Worry present there.Rimi looked worriedly at Rayna. "I've been sleeping dear. Do you feel alright?" She growled lightly at her younger brother as he shoved her aside. "I'll go get help." Turning to her brother she wishpered in his ear, "I'm trusting you." Then, she ran back toward the shop, hoping to find someone there who could help them out.

Rayna started to cry. "I can't do this to you, Toao. I'm sorry. Please, I don't want you to fall for me. I don't want you to end up like me. You'll only get hurt." She wrapped her tail around herself. She saw the tears in his eyes. She reached up to wipe them away. "Please little one, don't cry." She stood and looked at him. "I'm sorry," With that, she quickly trotted after Rimi. "Rimi, wait up!"

He watched as the female ran off, the one that had been be his side as he had grown, the one he had trusted, and now realizied, he'd fallen head over feet for. "Ray-" he began to call out, but his voice peeked and broke. He tried taking a step forward, but tripped over himself. No sound was heard as he fell and the waves began to wash over his unattended body. The sand began to form around him, as if to take him into it and relieve all his pain. Why could she leave me just like that, without even saying a word? I'm so stupid.
That seemed to be all his mind could comprehend, that he was stupid. What'd he done to upset her, what had he done to hurt someone he cared so much about? Nothing. The tears flowed easily now, and the water whispered comfortingly to him. ~Chase after her,~ it seemed to say. ~Don't give up!~ It encouraged him and he tried to stand, but all he did was sink into the sand. ~Have faith! You can do it!~ He stepped again, this time stepping upon a harder place, then he was up and running.
"RAYNA!" He shouted after her, all the muscles in his body working in their top condition. "RAYNA!"

Rayna turned around to meet his face. The tears were still in her eyes, glinting in the sun. "Stop," she whispered. "I warned you! I don't want to hurt you! You don't deserve what I got Toao!!!!" She screamed at him. She didn't want him to suffer the way she had. She couldn't return his feelings for her. Recovery had come along so well. He had to fall for me... This just takes us back to square one!

She yelled at him, long and hard. He stopped mid-step, paw raised up in the air, mind racing. She really doesn't want me. She hates me. Why am I here? Why do I exist if it's not to make her happy. He'd tried everything he could think of, and he could think of nothing else. He was stuck and stumbed.
Setting the paw down carefully his head lowered, ears pulling back and down. All he could manage was, "yes..." meekly. He turned then and began to make his way home, defeated.At the end of this ordeal was when Rimi came from within the shop as she had noticied their return. She watched as her younger brother turned back up the road toward home. Looking once at Rayna, she ran after him.
