In a moment of unintentional empathy, Ophelia took the ball from Maddy and tossed it over to Keres. She took up a position towards the back, and Nahuel moved towards the front of their side of the court. Being part cat, he knew how to jump and how to use that skill to his advantage.
"Ready when you are!" he called to the other team, and then looked to his teammates for confirmation.
"Ready!" agreed Ophelia.

Melchy grinned at the other team, expression oddly predatory and quite pleased with himself. He and Keres were going to win; it was a given. He couldn’t be beat, and as far as he could tell, Keres wouldn’t ever allow herself to be. So they were, by default, unstoppable.
“Whenever ye’re ready, toss it up an’ smack it,” he said. “We can’t lose. ‘S’impossible.”
Ah, young overconfidence.

"Ready too!" she was getting into it now, the expression on Melchy's face getting to her. Who did he think he was, underestimating them like that?! Sure, she wasn't very good at this ball-thing, but she'd try her best.
With that thought, she put her face into an expression of deep concentration and readied herself for the game to begin. They'd beat these suckers, no doubt!

(( x__x I'm SO sorry for the delay. My keres!muse died for a while ))
With the ball gingerly held, Keres moved some ways away from the net. Her gold eyes merely blinked at Melchy, gazed at the now ready opponents, then looked down at the white ball. Well... here goes nothing...
She tilted her head back a little and tossed the object fairly high up into the hair with one hand. As the ball began to fall back to earth, her large wings gave an unconscious flutter and then folded tightly against her back as her other hand made contact with the round object. Her bangle bracelets jangled loudly and she could still feel the stinging smack even as she watched the confounded thing sail through the air.
Going... going... going... would it make it? The ball landed directly on the top edge of the net before it tumbled onto one side of the net.
((OMGWHICHSIDE? xD; You guys pick. ))

The ball tipped towards Ophelia's side of the net and she dove at it in an effort to get it back over the net.
Apparently Nahuel had the same idea, because their hands hit the ball at the same time, and their heads collided a second later, sending both children tumbling into the sand.
The ball went spinning haphazardly into the air.
((WHERE IT FALLS? NOBODY KNOWS.))

Melchy watched the ball move from Keres to Ophelia and Nahuel, and coudln't help but bite back a laugh when the pair of them collided. "Y'okay?" he called out loudly, watching the ball's progress with interest. It took him a moment to realize that even though it had sailed high, it was also sailing wide enough to clear the net and coming.
Right.
For.
Him.
By instinct, Melchy shied his head out of the way, putting up his hands but knocking the ball straight into the air. "Awshiiiiiit!" he wailed. "Keres GET IT!"

Maddy too had made a jump for the ball when it had fallen into their side of the net, but had, somehow, managed to stop before bumbling into the other two.
She winced at the sound of two heads colliding, and threw a worried glance at her wounded teammates before sticking out her hand, clearly intending to help someone up and completely missing the drama on the other side of the net.
