It took a few more moments before they were being softly bathed in the dim light from above. Ryu noted there seemed to be fish bones at the bottom, but didn't think too highly of it. Though... maybe he should have actually, since they weren't there before.
"Here we are, the sand is easier to drag yourself around on, but if you want I could carry you," he offered.

A fierce pout materialized on Jair's face, and he scowled slightly. "I want to be able to walk around by myself," he muttered darkly, the first sign of his demonic nature showing through.
But then it was past.
He sighed and let go of Ryu's neck, flopping a bit until he was back in the water. "I have to learn to get around myself," he told Ryu seriously, "so I better start right away."
And he swam up towards the beach until it was too shallow for him to swim, then used his arms to try to drag himself along. He looked around curiously - at the lights, at the crystals around them, and at the pile of assorted items that was further ahead on the beach.
"Hey Uncle Ryu," he called out, pointing ahead but looking over his shoulder at his uncle, "what's all that stuff?"

Ryu moved himself onto the beach, he had thought that maybe Jair was referring to all of the light bottles until he saw for himself what was in the cave. His eyes widen at the sight of all of Feng's things, the piles of food, what looked to be a small fire pit and if he looked further on into the cave where the light bottles had been moved to create a dark space. There was a ball (or rather thick body coil) of yellow gold scales that glittered as the light shone off of them.
"Uh...." Ryu murmured trying to decide whether to explain to Jair or to call out to Feng.
The latter was solved for him as his sister turned around to see who was it that was disturbing her place. She gave them a hard look that he didn't recognized on Feng, it made Ryu a bit worried. More worried when he realized she was going for the knives she had borrowed from Triton.

Jair quite unfortunately saw none of this. He recognized only that his uncle was for some reason unable to answer his question, and he paused and sat on his tail, looking at his uncle quizzically.
"What is it?" he asked, his back to Feng, directly in her pathway. "Are you okay?"
His tiny wings unfurled and flapped weakly as he worried about his uncle's strange lack of response. But then he noticed that Ryu wasn't even looking at him - that he was looking past him ... and he turned slowly to see what his uncle was looking at.
Seeing the golden-tailed mermaid bearing down on him, her expression quite frightening, he screamed and tried to drag himself back towards Ryu - but he was too far away, too new to life, and he managed only to move a few small inches before falling face-first into the sand.
"UNCLE RYU!" he screamed, completely and utterly terrified. "HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP!"

They were perhaps quite fortunate that they had come during this period and not before, otherwise it might have ended badly. Feng blinked at the screaming little wiggling merboy. Ryu who was getting to his feet to grab Jair, though unfortunately Feng was closer.
Fortunately Feng was somewhat (sort of) in her right of mind.
"I have a nephew!!!" she squealed and pounced forward to scoop up Jair hugging him all Feng like to her ample bosom. She landed on her back since she didn't give herself legs and was just cuddling the stuffing out of the poor boy.
Ryu stared and twitched.... it was still Feng...

Jair wailed and struggled to free himself from Feng's arms, but his wings were caught between her arms and every time he tried to move a jolt of pain shot through his wings and into his shoulderblades, where his wings met his body.
"Uncle Ryu!" he cried, bursting into tears. "Help me! She's gonna eat me!"
And despite the pain that it brought him, he renewed his struggles once more.

Ryu sighed as he walked over to the two, this wasn't a good way to introduce family.
"Feng, stop that, you're scaring him," Ryu told her firmly bending over to take Jair away from Feng, "And he needs to breath, and you're squishing his wings."
His sister stopped and blinked up at him and then looked down the little bundle of joy. Then, she did something he had not expected his sister to do. She gently lifted Jair up and studied him before cradling him back to her chest so she could straighten out his wings.
"Awww.... don't cry sweetie," she cooed at him gently straightening out his wings, and rubbing his back.
If he wasn't so close he would have fallen over, what was it with his sister doing complete one eighties within the span of minutes?

Jair's entire body was trembling and he curled up in a ball in Feng's lap, hands over his eyes, his chin trembling as tears streamed down his face.
"Don't eat me," he squeaked, folding his wings tightly to his back the moment they were free to do so. He tried his best to ignore Feng rubbing his back, which he suspected was just a trick to make him open up so that she could eat him. A terrified whimper escaped his lips, and he yelped, "Uncle Ryu!"

Ryu could feel a headache coming on, seeing as his sister was acting completely weird (which was saying something) and his nephew was utterly terrified of his aunt.
"I'm not going to eat you silly," Feng lifted him up once more and looked up at him, "After all if I ate you who would play with Naida?"
"Naida?" Ryu had a bad feeling about this.

Jair trembled in Feng's hands and curled his tail up so that he could hide his face behind his fins.
"Who- who is - is N-Naida?" he stuttered fearfully, his green eyes wide open and peering just over top of his fins. His fists were clenched and drawn in at his sides as he tried not to show how scared he was.

That was what he was wondering himself, he was about to voice the question again when a small soft voice came from the place Feng was sleeping.
"Mama?"
Feng's eyes lit up as if they were suns, she murmured her spell softly rising to her feet and giving Jair back into the shocked arms of her brother before skipping back to her spot. She bent over and lifted something blue and shiny out of a vase hidden in the shadows. Turning around she then held out for the males to see.
"Naida!" she smiled happily, "It took me forever to find a good name from the baby book. Isn't she a cutie?"
Before Ryu was a small mermaid, with soft white hair that made Yue's hair length seem sane. He couldn't help but wonder if her hair was longer than Idhril's if they were the same age. She was just about as shiny as a trinket, which suited the mermaid holding her.
The little mermaid yawned and rubbed her eyes cutely as she noticed they had guests, the first guests she had seen well... ever.
"Mama... who are they?"

Jair was more than happy to go back to Ryu, and the second he was back with his uncle he burrowed into his chest, clinging tightly to him and promising to himself that he wouldn't let go as long as they were in that cave.
But at the sound of that soft voice, he couldn't help but peer out and crack one eye open to see what was making it.
He was amazed to see Naida there - the same size as him and very pretty. So far, everything in the world - in either world - had been so much bigger than him ... it surprised him that there were others of his size.
He wanted to go see her, introduce himself, maybe play a bit, show off his swimming skills ... but he didn't want to go anywhere near Feng, to whom he hadn't even yet been introduced.

Feng grinned widely from ear to ear, any wider and Ryu would have sworn that her head might split open. Seeing how this day was just getting weirder and weirder, that kind of creeped him out thinking like that.
"That is your Uncle Ryu," Feng said in a sing a song sort of voice, "And this is your cousin.... I don't know your name."
She had realized this seeing as she never had thought about it before.
"What's your name?"

Seeing that Feng had settled down quite a bit (at least she wasn't pouncing or making sudden movements anymore), Jair relaxed his grip on Ryu's chest slightly, turning to face the two mermaids.
"Jair," he replied in a soft voice, sounding shy for the first time since his birth. "Who are you?"

"I'm Feng," she grinned, "That... would make me your aunt."
She took Naida back close to her chest, cradling the little girl like she would an infant. It took a while for it all to sink into Ryu's mind that Naida was Feng's which brought up the question.
"She's yours..."
"Yup!"
He eyed the little girl, "Who is... well, I mean..."
"Ryu," Feng laughed, "Do you really think there is anyone old enough to give me this white cutie? I just asked for her, and she turned out to be such a sweetie...."
