"Kills are often hard to come by in lands that are not your own. Most would wait to pick at what was finished." Her tail flickered as she thought of her home once more. They never lacked in food there... Their lands were perfect for the hunt. "I was sent to find the daughter of my King. Stupid git ran off with a rogue... And not even one befitting of siring royal cubs. Just the thought of it makes me cringe..."
She shook her head, tearing off another piece of meat to chomp almost angrily. Kindoro had been her friend; like a sister as they'd grown up together. It was a slap across the face with claws extended that she'd done such a thing... That she'd abandoned her home... And now she'd been sent to find her.
"Some lions have no pride whatsoever."

"It wouldn't have hurt him to wait until I was done...I leave enough for the strength for another hunt. They should thank me that I don't strip it completely bare," Ziarre growled, tailtip twitching irritably at some memory. Since striking out on her own, her experiences with those not of her kind had been singularly unpleasant, helping to solidify what her mother had taught. To survive, you fought for what you had, and you kept it if you had the strength. Other lions were hunting partners, but other predators were simply competition. "No pride, indeed. Choosing a...lesser hunter over another lion...it's a shame, what some will stoop to."

She sat back after eating her fill, bringing a paw up to her muzzle so that she could begin cleaning herself, taking great pride in the care of her body. Once she was content she glanced up at the other female. "So... From here will you travel alone or would you enjoy some company? It might be nice to have a sister to hunt with while traveling." She smirked, golden eyes gleaming.

Ziarre chewed thoughtfully at a mouthful of meat, pondering her answer. Mwindaji was, if not the friendliest companion, a tolerable one...and the overly friendly types often extended their friendliness to the lessers anyhow. Besides, a hunting partner meant the both of them would eat better and more often. "As I've no particular goal in mind so far, I don't see what it would harm to accompany you along your way for a while," she finally replied.

"Fortune has a way of leading us in the right direction." She nodded slowly, turning her gaze back to the remains of their kill. It lingered there for a moment as she pondered whether or not she could or should eat more. Deciding against it she glanced back up at the other female. "Whenever you're ready... I was heading north."

"Fortune plays its part, but it's up to us to accomplish the brunt of the work." Licking the last bits of blood from her fur with her rough tongue, she gave the remnants of the kill a glance herself. She hated to leave it behind, but at least she and her new traveling companion had taken the choice portions. The scavengers would have the bone and gristle, the lesser bits of meat. "I'm ready whenever you are...Mwindaji."

"Of course." She nodded, tail twitching behind her as she turned to continue along her way... Their way now. "Fortune puts us where we need to be. It is up to us to make something of it. If we do, good. If we don't?" She tilted her head in a sort of shrug, a smirk curving her muzzle. "Then it is on us what happens after it."
She continued on for a bit, slowing her pace so that the other female could catch up easily should she wish to walk alongside her instead of trailing behind. "Either way, we'll know when it's time to part ways as well; you on your path and me on mine."

"Probably when our path takes us in different directions," Ziarre remarked, trotting almost lazily to catch up. She gave little care now to if she was spooking any prey that might be in the area...she was full, and if they couldn't sense that then they could go ahead and work themselves into a frenzy as she left. "Could be tomorrow, could be a few weeks, who knows? Fate, fortune, whatever you want to call it...it happens, and when it happens we know well enough." She was looking forward to the better hunts in her immediate future, being a less than stellar hunter herself. The more help, the better.
