"Probably a mix of both," she said, referring to the canines controlled by man. It was a frightening to a wild wolf the prospect of captivity when the rest of the world lay at their paws. A burning ancient thrill was imbedded in every wolf as an inherent right to love the freedom they were born with and nothing could separate them from that instinct. This was not to say they did not want responsibility, after all, wolves would not build packs if they did not want the company of others to keep them united as one, but there was a difference with living in a pack and living under the rule of a human.
Abital felt a little put out at the idea they would not be able to return. She didn't even consider leaving Amaury behind to go back on her own, though it was something that usually would have struck her, but it was a good thing the female was listening to someone older than her for once instead of what her immature heart told her. But at the older she-wolfs last statement she perked up a bit and gave a small nod.
"It was. I would hope to return another day and maybe be able to bring back something more," she murmured, trying not to sulk over the loss. It was best to look at this not as a failure, but instead a step closer to a greater treasure.

Amaury nodded, distracted. The hour and the time that has passed suddenly weighed upon her. The adventure has ended, and while she enjoyed playing treasure-hunter with the adolescent, there wasn't much left to do. She was sure the young wolf had a pack to return to, and a family, perhaps one to which she could share her adventures.
Maybe she would mention Amaury. She might like that.
Amaury, however, had no where to go; not even a permanent den. She did love her freedom, and no, she did not do well in a pack setting--slight mistrust and a loner streak usually sent her wandering after not too long. Still, she missed it sometimes. Sometimes.
"I suppose you need to go home," she said casually, assuming the adolescent would say yes. Hoping she would, so that they could part ways and Amaury's sudden loneliness would disappear. Strange, how you can be more lonely with another wolf than by yourself.

Abital could sense the female's loneliness and wondered where it had come from. The creature was a being made of the sin greed and hardly felt any other emotion except the familiar euphoric ecstasy when having found some object of value. This did not mean she couldn't completely feel anything other, after all, she had already expressed other emotion. It just wasn't well known. Pity was something she experienced rarely. All the same, this wolf was someone who she had shared an adventure with and perhaps deserved some form of acknowledgement instead of a simple wave goodbye.
"Hmm...well, I could invite you to my pack, Gomorrah, but I'm not sure how they'd take you," the adolescent muttered, offering some idea, "Nor am I sure exactly if you'd feel comfortable. I could stay here for a day or so...my family doesn't expect me back anytime soon. We're very...loose when it comes to staying in and outside the pack lands. We're not so close I guess you could say."
Abital spoke more in those few sentences than she had in some time. It wasn't like her to speak much and in front of a stranger no less.

Amaury realized that it was difficult for the other to make such offers, and she felt a little rush of gratitude. Still, she wasn't so sure she was ready for such companionship. "I don't... 'stay' anywhere," Amaury warned, in case the other wolf had a different idea. "And I have not had company for a long time." Then, rethinking it, she realized chasing the younger wolf away might be a bad idea. "Still..." she said, sounding thoughtful, "it might be nice to have a partner to find... bigger, faster prety." She nearly drooled at the idea. She hadn't had deer, fresh deer, for a long time. Even a small doe took at least two wolves to take down. If Amaury tasted the larger quadropeds, it was because she had found the remains of another kill or stolen it from another predator--though not another wolf. She never stole from other wolves.

The young she-wolf listened to the older female and understood her points. Whatever she was willing to do, Abital was willing to sing along for the ride. Her tail swayed lightly as he padded forward a few steps, heading deeper into the wood, ready to get started on whatever journey she would be placed upon with the next few words. "If you want to hunt then let's hunt," she murmured, staring back at the older wolf with quizzical eyes.
(Arg, sorry this is so short)

((It's no problem; I'm one of those people who actually likes quantity over quality in RPs, just so I have something to reply to (as long as the quality is reply-able...)
Do you want to wrap this up or keep going? Obviously we could keep going, but I don't want this to drag on to the point where they keep going "So... what do you want to do?" "I dunno, what do you want to do?"))
Amaury smiled, a real, warm smile. Her ankh glinted in the filtered moonlight, swinging against her leg as she stood and began to trop with the other wolf. She quickly drew a little ahead, taking her place as the eldest of the two, but by no means was she leading. They were both simply following a path through the woods until they found a scent they could pursue.
It wasn't long before Amaury scented deer; two does and a mostly-grown fawn. Any of them would be fine prey. Without speaking, she angled into their direction, slowing a little to reduce noise. They were not far, she could tell that from their scent, and all three were healthy, which would make them harder to capture, but Amaury was sure the two thieves could handle it.
