"This stuff is good, it's messing you up, it's not night yet, though we do open in an hour, so you're almost right," he laughed. He and Doris Jane have an identical laugh.

She stuck her tongue out at him. "Not at one sip! This may be good, but it ain't that good." She sipped some more.

He laughed some more, anyone can make him laugh. "It's fine, you're my best customer anyways," he told her with a wink. He walked out from the bar, and grabbed the broom again to finish the job his daughter started. He was finally done with sweeping so he started on cleaning the glasses. He took them down one by one and began wiping them off with a clean bar towel.
((See ya tomorrowz. ))

She continued to drink daintily, looking at the door for potential customers.

((Let's move on to opening...? biggrin ))
Doris Jane came back from shopping with her mother, she got a few new dresses and beads. She saw that Lillian was still at the bar, sipping a drink. She walked over to her after waving hi to the doorman.
"Still here, or did you take a break?'

Lillian shrugged. "Yeah, not much to do before opening. No customers either." She looked slightly saddened. "Anyways, where does your dad put the cigarettes? I forgot."

"In my pocket," She said as she pulled out a pack of cigarettes from her clutch purse. She handed over one to Lillian and put one in her lips. She dug some more in her purse and pulled out some matches. She lit both cigarettes and took a long drag and blew out smoke. "It was so tough to keep this away from my mother all day," she told Lillian as she took another drag.

"Well, I'll keep them for ya." She grinned at Doris. "That'll keep them away from your mother."

"Ok, if you smoke them all, you buy me a new pack," she handed over the pack of cigarettes to Lillian, along with the matches. Her mother would get antsy over those as well. She continued puffing on her cigarette, she looked around and saw her father, serving drinks to customers, their eyes met. He walked over to her.
"Can I trust that you're going to start serving and give this bar a better name than it already has?" He asked her, handing her the bar towel.
"Of course," she blew smoke in his face, they played around like that. He motioned to have a drag at it too, she handed it over to him, expecting to never see it again. She took her place behind the bar and started pouring more drinks.

Doris Jane continued serving customers, she spoke easily to the men that came in, after a few drinks that is. Coming from a German background, she has a high tolerance for alcohol. One night she drunk her father under the table, she won 200 dollars for it as well. She looked over at Lillian who was chatting with a group of men, she turned her interest back in one of the men she was talking with, he was now showing off his biceps. She laughed a little and shook her head, he was of course drunk, no body really hit on her, mainly because of her father and his connections.
Some other men with women hanging off their arms, and giggling madly ordered some drinks. She went over to serve them, the drunk man didn't even notice she left and began talking with the mop that was resting on the wall behind the bar.
She looked over at George, the other bar tender," I need some air," she told him over the noise of the bar. She ducked down and found the pack of cigarettes kept under the bar, took one and a match and went outside.
She sat on the stairs that lead to one of the Mayfair's fire escapes and lit up her cigarette. She took a satisfying puff and blew the smoke out her nostrils. She looked up at the night sky, it was full of stars.

Lillian and a young drunk man stumbled out of the bar. "Hey, wake up." she shoved the young man's shoulder. The boy looked like a sprout. He was tall and lanky, with black hair sticking up all over his head. He even had the green skin tone to match. He leaned against her, breathing heavily. "Hey, if you're going to barf, do it over there." The boy nodded, stumbling over to the bushes.

Doris Jane heard voices, then the buses lining the property of the Mayfair rustling. She stood up, and saw Lillian with one of her clients. "Lillian, hey," she said to her friend.

"I could tell, just by looking at him, he's positively green!" She said, laughing. "He's not going to remember anything in the morning," she took a drag on her cigarette.
