Seishuku's oblivious facade cracked as she attempted to morph her expression into one of his own. Her shifting features that chose to rest in an uncomfortable manner were largely unreadable. It was impossible to immitate the emotion in an individual's eyes given the personal nature of such a thing... However, to attempt to imitate their expression and to fail at it in such a comical manner was too much of an opportuntiy to pass up. His lips cracked into a smile and after a few moments he began to chuckle at how peculiar she had looked. He was sure she had tried to hard to make it look right, perhaps he had even looekd so strange but he sincerely hoped he hadn't.
"Uh...we must confess that you look most unusual when you choose such an expression," he cleared his throat and quickly reined his good humour in. His lips still twitching and threatening to set him off again at a moments notice, he had to keep talking to explain at the very least. "Perhaps if you were to try and explain it verbally it might be better? We have looks that represent many things if we are honest..."
Shaking his head, he quickly dropped the royal 'we' in favour of something that was decidedly easier on the tongue. His ears twitching lightly as she spoke of her happiness at his presence. It hadn't been planned, it had been a mere twist of fate but alas...
"I suspect it was planned by hands I cannot see, clearly you needed a little more than a forest animal as company."

As Hotohori struggled, Nuriko couldn't help but set the wedge. His facade cracked for a just a moment and she snuck in quickly and nudged him on the shoulder, "Oh, there we go! I knew you were not all - " her voice lowered and her face stiffened to a 'serious' look "-prim and proper. Lighten up, it's a beautiful day and old friends unite!" Or at least, she thought they were friends... surely they were, for if not he would have left at the mere sight of her.
"Well..." the mare's voice trailed, "the expression was like one of humour but also sadness of something lost? Words are simply too limited!" The last bit was accentuated with a flip of her fluffy forelock hair and rolling of her eyes - just to drive home the point that actions speak louder than words.
"Hands you cannot see, yes... the gods do work in ways that us mere mortals cannot try to comphrehend to its fullest." Nuriko nodded as if she were actually going to attempt, though. "Oh yes... clearly," she winked.

He had to have some sense of decorum given his role in the world. However, this did not mean that he was devoid of a sense of humour and incapable of using it. He could feign ignorance when necessary, could maintain a serious expression when it was called for... But there were times when he would permit his guard to be dropped. In the rare times that none were watching and scrutinising his behaviour, he would afford a brief moment of respite. His sense of humour and amusement would appear that these moments and only these moments.
The Kawani Lands were his respite.
Nevertheless it wasn't long before she once again invaded his personal space and he shifted slightly at her nudge. She had always been particularly affectionate to those around her, had demanded it in a not-so-subtle way. He'd found it entertaining to observe all those years ago, even if it was from a distance... The manner in which she brought light and joy to those around her. Alright, so she could be incredibly loud, but none could lament while in her presence simply because they didn't have the opportunity to think at any great depth.
"Words are not limited so long as they remain vague," he smiled wryly at this and pivoted his ears in her general direction. "I just recalled something amusing," he shrugged loosely before starting in surprise at her next remark. He had meant his observation to be completely harmless, so why was it that he now had the feeling he had just been played.
"Why do you wink...?"
