She watched his face light up like a kid at christmas, and she rose an eyebrow, quite nearly laughing at him again. He was acting like such a goof- a characteristic she was almost NEVER around, since most were scared of irritating her if they acted as such.

It was... Quite refreshing, really.

"I am, aren't I?" she agreed with a low chuckle, standing up and brushing herself off, even though she hadn't accumulated any crumbs or anything of the like. Hell, she'd barely even managed to get a wrinkle in her shirt.

She moved towards the door, figureing they could walk, and talk as they figured out where a better place to go would be.

"In all honestly I haven't the slightest idea where I'm inclined to go," she replied with a shrug, "It's not often I go out of my way to socialize- I'm not really sure where to start," A little embarassing to admit; but the truth. The last time she'd been out had been for a dinner party with one of her father's old friends--

Who'd tried to shoot her in the head.

She'd returned the hospitality, of course.

"If your hungry, we could go for lunch," she suggested with a bit of a shrug, "Or..."

Well, she wasn't exactly sure what her 'or' might be able to include.

Spins was more than happy to fall in alongside Dominique, lingering behind only long enough to steal one long look before quickening his pace. Man, but she walked like a predator. Just imagine if he brought her home. Jaden would hide in a closet. Which wouldn't really be much of a change for him, when you thought about it.

He was getting ahead of himself again. But look. Look! They were leaving the cafe moving toward bigger, better things. And she hadn't walked away yet. Mom would be so proud.

Or... not.

"I bet work keeps you pretty busy." He interjected sympathetically when she mentioned not going out much. It seemed logical that killing and extorting probably took up a lot of a woman's time. Especially if, as she said, she had a 'hands on' approach. So admirable, a person who took a sincere interest in the running of a family business.

"There's a shooting range that isn't far." He suggested. Then he frowned. "Umm... that'd probably be like work for you."

Except with less screaming, he would bet.

"Lets see. Arcade, bar, bar, bar, bowling alley." He ticked the options off on his fingers, "I am hungry, so we could do lunch. But I don't know what you like to eat."

She walked away from the cafe, and down the street, heading around the corner, towards where she'd parked. She was fishing her keys out of her purse as he was speaking, and if he cared to look he might have caught the glimpse of a walther P99 tucked away in her purse- in fact, it seemed to take up the bulk of the space inside of it. She didn't particularily like to carry purses, but they were a good way to bring along a concealed weapon when one was in a suit, and it was something men couldn't pull off, so she took advantage of it.

More than once she'd forgotten her purses at various locations though- thankfully usually places she owned. It was only when she was headed somewhere else that she had to be extra-cautious not to forget them.

"It does," she agreed with a curt nod, glancing at him out of the corners of her vision.

Woah, in the sunlight his hair had a pretty crazy effect, and she had to remind herself not to stare at it for too long, and so flicked her eyes forward after a moment or two.

"But most of the time, it's not too bad. It's when I have to start memorizing numbers and making sure everything adds up that is a pain in my a**," she smiled tersely, and shook her head.

She chuckled at the suggestion of a shooting range, and shrugged, shaking her head a bit.

"No, shooting ranges are generally a bit more relaxing. There's not as much begging, or screaming at a shooting range," she merely voiced what he'd been thinking, without really knowing it, "Well, generally I put an end to the screaming pretty quickly... Too much of it gives me a headache,"

As he ticked the options off, she had to take a moment to consider that she'd probably never been to a proper arcade before. And bowling? Hah, she'd probably be embarassingly bad at that.

"I like food, like any other human being," she replied, a flicker of a smile passing over her face once more, "and I'm open to trying new things, provided no ones trying to poison me. I have one rule though- I absolutely WILL NOT do fast food,"

It was probably her biggest pet peeve- big, nasty, greasy burgers cooked in under three minutes and slathered in ketchup with a side of equally greasy, disgusting fries.

No, no fast food for Dom. Not now, and not ever.

"Stuff makes me sick just to look at,"

A sudden thought came to her though as they drew closer to her car- a sleek, black Mercedes SLR. She'd considered riding her ducati over- but didn't want to deal with helmet hair or worry about a bulky leather jacket.

"Did you just walk over? Or shall I drive you around until we settle on something to do?" she murmured as she twirled her car keys idly around her finger, moving towards the mercedes and leaning herself against the side of it, raising an eyebrow at the other.

Spins probably had all sorts of thoughts stored up for proper response to Dominique's words. Certainly, he was nodding in all the right places, his long stride matching hers, and she did indeed have a long stride. Tall mob boss. Was that like... an Italian trait? Heh, how was he to know. This was Gaia, a far cry from Italy. He didn't have more than a drop of human blood running through his veins.

He could, however, recite the complete works of Dorothy Parker. Ahh genetics.

Anyway, responses. Indeed. He was quite prepared to recommend one or two restaurants that he thought Dom might be willing to frequent. Sure, it would have to be a compromise between her tastes and his credit limit, but he was sure that he could at least move them one step up above fast food.

Greasy diners where the cook knew him by name, sure. But fast food was dull and tasteless. He wasn't a huge fan either, and certainly hadn't imagined she would be.

And then he saw her car. And it was shiny! Mind, Spins worked on vehicles for a living, and, as he'd mentioned, he often worked on very fast cars. But those were modified hondas and the like, not particularly nice cars, but cars made to preform in a specific way.

This, however, was a very nice car. Spins paused to drool for a minute, not actually touching the thing but letting his eyes sweep over it appreciatively.

"Mob bosses do alright for themselves, huh?" He said at last, attentive again, his eyes on Dom. "There's a thai place on the corner of 27th and East. About five miles from here. That sound alright?"

Not greasy, not fast, but not stupidly expensive either. And he'd get to ride in the car!

She didn't mind doing all the talking for the moment; it was something she was used to, and usually when people interupted her she threatened to shoot them in the foot.

She too was starting to contemplate lunch locations; there were a couple of places where they'd garanteeably eat free, and she was about to say something about them, when she noticed that his attention had completely slipped from her. She didn't have to question why, and in the moments it took him to recover, she'd pulled open the driver's side door (or rather, pulled it up, as the doors were inclined to shift up, instead of out) when he spoke again.

She chuckled softly and smirked, "We do just fine for ourselves, I'd say. My father set up a good, profitable business. It has it's bumps, but I do alright,"

'Alright' was a bit of an understatement- but she wasn't about to say how much of one. Such things were considered rude in polite company.

"Sure," she murmured, nodding at the idea of thai. It didn't sound particularily unpleasent, and she couldn't remember the last time she'd had thai.

She climbed into the driver's side, and waited for him to do likewise on the other side of the car, pulling her door down and buckling herself in.

"You'll have to give me directions," she said once he was settled, "Or I could drive around until I find it. That could be fun, too,"

She chuckled softly, and turned over the car's engine. Aah.. her mercedes purred like a kitten.

Spins was more than happy to climb into the (shiny) car, following Dominique's lead and even buckling up for safety. Look mom, he was a good boy! Erm... except the going to lunch with a mob boss thing. Well... good was all relative anyway.

The important thing was that he was in a (shiny) car with a beautiful (deadly) woman going to get delicious thai food.

"I'm sure you keep it running smoothly." He murmured still a bit distracted by the sound of the engine but none the less willing to praise Dominique's obvious business running skills.

At the suggesting that they just drive until they found the place Spins found himself grinning over at her. "Heh. Can't say I'd mind spending a few hours lost with you in this car."

And damn... that'd been a little too bold, hadn't it. s**t. Refraining from smacking himself in the forehead Spence bit his lip, those too sharp teeth biting into flesh but luckily not breaking it. "It's three lights up from here, you'll want to turn left."

The engine, it seemed, was offering more than enough of a comfortable background noise for Dominique, as she otherwise didn't seem to feel the need to tinker with the car's stereo system. And by the looks of the car, it probably boasted an impressive one. But she figured that the only reason music might be necessary would be to fill an awkward silence, and, so far as it went, well. Things seemed to be going pretty well...

"I do my best," she replied with a shrug at his compliment.

She glanced over at him and blinked at the rather forward comment, and at first, wasn't quite sure how, or if, she should respond to it.

The faintest hint of a smirk started to curl at her lip though as they neared aforementioned light. Oh yes, she'd settled on exactly how she should respond to his bold statement...

She bet that he was getting pretty nervous by now, seeing as she hadn't said or done anything since his remark- but as they came to the green light, her turn signal went on- and the car rolled... to the right.

She grinned at him, and chuckled, "Whoops, wrong turn," before offering a non-chalont shrug- but the smirk stayed on her lips, "Oh well. I'm sure we'll still find it,"

She hoped that this at least, would have him quit looking so damned nervous. His boldness was kind of- a refreshing change, really.

He was, indeed, getting nervous. The drawing out of the silence, the movements of the car ever forward. Almost absently he rubbed his left wrist with his write hand, showing flashes of the markings hidden beneath his long sleeved shirt. But Dominique was driving. It was unlikely she saw them.

And then, the light, and the car turned right where it should have turned left, and Spins was blinking in confusion.

But... Dominique's voice was touched with laughter, and her words held no threat.

The man with the horns blinked, looked from Dom to the road, and then laughed, a giddy sound, laced with anxious energy.

"Awesome." He said, as his laughter faded.

"Lost forever in these dangerous streets." His voice dripped with melodrama. "Cannibalism instead of Thai."

Oh, but damn was she cool!

She smiled faintly as he laughed, and relaxed back in her seat, tilting her head a bit and passing him a cocky smirk.

"Well y'know," she remarked, leering at him- but in a playful way, not a dangerous one, "If it comes to that... I put up a pretty damned good fight!"

She found a side street to take the car down, doubling back until they found their original intersection, and this time rolling in the intended direction.

"Huh, and just as the idea was starting to grow on me too," she said with an over-exaggerated pout.

She was beginning to feel pretty glad about the fact that she'd decided to go on this date; she'd had far worse ones than this, and she was actually feeling... Relatively happy and relaxed, for once, which wasn't something that happened for her very often.

On the edge of offering some rather inappropriate innuendo in regards to being eaten, what existed of Spins mental censor went off and he manged to strangle the comment. Yeah. He was going to have to work on this whole 'tact' thing. Heh.

"Yeah, I think I'm a goner if it comes to that." He admitted with a casual shrug, and another grin. "Ahh well. It's been a good life. I'll warn you though, I probably taste funny."

Demon, human, god, unicorn, werewolf, hummingbird, mages usually did, he assumed

And then the car was going the right direction again, and he turned the majority of his attention to watching the shopping centers go by. He hadn't been to this particular place in months, and he'd hate to miss it.

They came up on the proper after a few more lights, a sort of upscale outdoor mall with gas lamps that lit the area at night. "If you turn in just ahead... it's that place there called My Thai."

She had a few choice lewd remarks that she could've offered to her own remarks- but she kept them to herself. They weren't quite that far into a comfortable relationship to start throwing out dirty (yet amusing) comments just yet.

She tilted her head to look him over again, and her lip pulled back into just a bit of a smirk.

"Oh aye, I'll bet you do," she grinned, her turn to make a bold statement it seemed, before shaking her head and going back to paying attention to her driving.

It wasn't long before he was giving her further directions, and she turned the car, her eyes sharp and alert, looking for any signs of the Thai place mentioned.

"I see it," she said, now scouting a place to park.

Not long after she was climbing out of the car, her gaze sweeping up and down both directions of the street- even for a moment, scouting the rooftops. Perhaps a hint of... 'professional' paranoia... She did it all in hardly a moment though, and if he wasn't looking he likely would miss it.

"Right then," she murmured, making sure her car was all locked up and waiting for him before heading towards the decided eatery.

Unlike Dom, Spins was anything but paranoid, and indeed, seemed completely unaware of any paranoia on her part. He all but bounced out of the car, though he gave it a somewhat affectionate look as he left it.

My Thai was just ahead of them, and Spins, hungrier than ever with the scent of curry on the air, set off toward it, long strides quickly bringing him to the door. "You'll like here. Well... I do anyway. It's better than chocolate flavored alka-seltzer."

He still hadn't forgiven the cafe for that. Stupid cafe.

But they weren't there anymore. They were here. And here was the place that he trotted up to, and after some debate, held the door open to. "After you. Unless, you know, I'm supposed to be the human shield."

My Thai was dimly lit, twilight despite the sun outside. The decorating was sparse, clean lines everywhere, abstract art on the walls, a wall fountain burbling quietly in one corner. The music was distant and classical, though not of any particularly recognizable classical artist.

The tables were of dark wood, with matching chairs, and no table cloths. The place mats looked to be of woven reeds, and tea lights flickering in the center of each table. Just inside, the hostess waited to seat customers. There were few enough, at this time of day.

Paranoia (or perhaps rather, a strong sense of caution) was probably part of what had kept her alive for so long. Then again, it wasn't as if her life was put in direct danger every day. Still, it was something that lingered, and she'd be foolish to forget it.

Didn't mean she couldn't relax though, and she followed him quickly, her own long legs keeping her just half a step behind him as they journeyed across the street.

She chuckled at him in his complaint, and cocked an eyebrow, "Still sour about that huh? Well, don't worry, the mean old alka-seltzer can't get you here,"

He was just full of witty and amusing comments it seemed, and she found herself almost laughing once more at the suggestion of the meat shield, but instead smirked, and swept through the offered open door, tilting her head back towards him as she murmured, "You don't give me nearly enough credit. Don't worry, if there are any big bad men waiting inside I'll take care of 'em. And all without breaking a nail, too,"

She shook her head a bit and smiled in amusement, her left hand lifting to brush through her hair as the both of them finally got inside.

She looked around the establishment a moment, and nodded in approval. Yes, it was clean enough, and nice enough SMELLED damn good. Her stomach growled it's approval, too, and if she'd been one to blush, it might just have passed over her cheeks- but she had decided long ago that she was too tough for such modesties, so just brushed it off.

She turned to him, opening her mouth to say something- but there was a distinct... oddity.

And it caught her a little off guard.

And here she'd thought there was very little that would still surprise her.

"You... glow?" she blinked, but shook her head, composing herself quickly and tilting her head to stare at him curiously, "Well. That's interesting,"

She folded her arms and regarded him in a different kind of way- before her lips pulled back into a bit of a smirk.

"Bet you never needed a night light as a kid," she chuckled.

Be still oh heart! Spin was grinning again, fangs very white in the gentle glow of... him.

Anyone who could stride into that restaurant, confident and cocky and willing to take down anyone who got in the way... well... it was safe to say that at that moment Dominique had Spins eating out of her hand. And he couldn't be more pleased about it.

She could shoot people, man! Well, in theory, so could he, but that wasn't the point. He wasn't currently in the habit of shooting people. But maybe he would be, hanging around her. That might be fun!

Curse you, lack of a moral compass and addiction to danger. Heh, who was he kidding? This was awesome!

And then... she noticed the glowing thing. Currently, he was glowing with a gentle golden light, though it wasn't always gold. Maybe that meant something. Hell if he knew.

Ducking his head a bit uncomfortably, and then shaking it off with a shrug he did his best to explain. "It's a fairy thing... I think. Just enough of the blood to glow, not enough to control the damn glowing.

"Think of me as your own personal flashlight." And then, the hostess was waiting for their attention, so he gave her a grin as well, and answered her question as to party number with, "Two."

The restaurant wasn't big, so they could actually see the table they were seated at from the door. No booths, but the corner table allowed a good view of the rest of the restaurant and the door.

Spins wasn't the only one who was actually, genuinely, enjoying the company. In fact, Dominique couldn't remember the last time she'd gotten along so well with a person. Usually by now there was something that set her off- something that annoyed, irritated or irked her to a point of shutting down and dismissing that person's existence almost entirely. But for Spencer- well. Not even the fact that he glowed could put her off.

She couldn't say what it was, exactly, but he was genuinely intriguing. Perhaps this was mostly thanks to his appearance- she'd never seen anyone like him, and likely never would again, and as superficial as it was, it had been enough for her to give him a chance.

And boy, wasn't she glad she had.

"A fairy thing?" she chuckled, and shook her head, noticing his discomfort, and wishing to quell it by wafting her hand, "Well, I'm sure there are stranger things roaming about,"

She chuckled again, and grinned, "And, I'll never lose you in a theater,"

She winked at him, and followed the hostess to their table, one of her hands falling upon her hip as she walked. She sat down easily, leaning back in the chair and raising an eyebrow at him.

"So what's good?" she inquired, not looking at her menu, merely resting one of her hands on top of it.
