"Dragons!" Kaimi exclaimed, the sweet scent that surrounded her growing stronger. Dragons were awesome! She increased her efforts until she, too, hit the hard black plastic-stuff. She frowned thoughtfully. "Hmm..." She said, leaning over and sticking her head into the hole they had made as if closer inspection would somehow yield answers. "I dont know" She said, her voice muffled from the hole.
"What... on earth..." Naomi sighed again. "I'm afraid this is likely Kaimi's fault." She said apologetically. "She does tend to be a little... over enthusiastic." Images of the yard being filled up with holes invaded Naomi's mind disturbingly. There was a reason she didn't own a dog...

Todd peered at Kaimi with her head in the hole, then sighed unhappily once thinking about the plastic blockade. " Maybe we not allowed?" He frowned slightly, a rare expression on the boy, before his thumb came to his mouth, where he began to chew at the nail. " Maybe Police put it there to keep dragons out of here?" It couldn't be to keep them out of China, thats for sure!
Elliot shrugged, keeping an eye on Todd as he watched him begin to chew on his nail again. He'd have to work on that habit of his. "I doubt it was only Kaimi's fault. Todd has a very big imagination and can makes things up and excite other kids." He chuckled and shrugged again. "No real harm in playground play, unless they bring the destruction home, than that is a major mess."

Kaimi pulled her head out of the hole and shook it wildly, the sand caught in her hair flying everywhere. "Police?" She asked, her expression thoughtful. "Good police? Or bad police? Maybe it was the naughtys!" She actually meant nazis, being a newly developed avid Indiana Jones fan. "Maybe they put the plastic there cause they don't want anyone to get the treasure the dragons are guarding! I bet it's a really cool treasure, too!"
Naomi smiled, still watching the kids. "Kaimi has a big imagination too. For the most part, I think it's good for her. Though I wouldn't be suprised if she started chewing the furniture pretty soon here. Were you born on Gaia?"

Todd closed his eyes, a hand rising to shield himself from the sand, as he thought about Kaimi's question. Well dragons normally attacked stuff right? So it seemed like good police would be trying to keep them safe. But naughtys? Now that didn't sound like a good thing, especially if they were keeping a really cool treasure all to themselves! "How rude! They need to share! Dats not fair!" Little did he know that bad guys hardly knew the word 'fair.' "Why won't they let us haves treasure too?"
Elliot snickered at the image of Kaimi chewing on furniture. But he had to admit, he could see Todd doing it too in order to act more like a wild fox. " Imagination is certainly a good thing to let them use. Childhood can be so boring otherwise." He chuckled softly before pushing his glasses farther upon his nose, mussing the new question in his mind. " Hmm, yes I was. But apparently aside from my parents, my whole family is from Earth." He shrugged. He had little connections with his family nowadays, therefore why he hadn't ever really met someone from Earth before.

"Because they're bad..." Kaimi said in a stage whisper, leaning close so Todd could hear her. "Or maybe it's hidden. Maybe they stole it from the dragons and put it somewhere else. I bet theres a map!"
Naomi nodded at Elliot, her face thoughtful. "I dont see my family terribly often, though I do commute to Earth for work. Or at least, I'll start commuting again once Kaimi is a little bit older... As it is if I let her out of my sight for five minutes she's into something. Couldn't leave her for the whole day."

Todd's eyes slowly began to grow as he listened intently to Kaimi. If they were stealing from dragons, they certainly were bad! " Where would map be?" He certainly had no idea, but figured Kaimi did since she knew more about naughtys than he did.
Elliot sighed in agreement, he knew the woes of being unable to stop watching your child for a moment. The sandbox hole would certainly be a good example of why. " Todd is the same way, though Liam doesn't exactly help. He sort of promotes Todd's adventures. Bless both their hearts, I just don't like cleaning up the messes," he chuckled fondly at the thought.

Kaimi drew deep on her very limited comprehension of Indiana Jones and furrowed her brow. "I dunno..." She looked around as if maybe she could spot it. "Indy always has to hunt for maps an' secrets. Theres s'posed to be clues..." Clues, yes. But she had no idea where to start. Kaimi let out a little sigh - it was a big big world, the treasure could be anywhere.
Naomi smiled, nodding. "I try to promote her imagination without letting her burn the house down. Mostly she's a good girl..." There was a slight hesitation there, as if being a good girl and being a little heathen were not necessarily mutually exclusive. She wondered wether Liam was Elliot's lover or brother or some other connection, but didn't say anything, figuring it wouldn't be terribly polite.

"Clues? Like a paw print?!" His eyes brightened at the idea, but it was soon replaced by a look of disappointment. " But I don't gots my dandy dandy notebook to find clues with." Not that the blue paw prints from the TV show he so loved, ever really lead to a treasure owned by dragons and hidden by naughtys. But if it had anything to do with clues, it still worked right?
" Mostly is a good way of putting it," Elliot laughed softly. " I fear letting Todd have a room to himself yet. Young as he is, he can still make some large messes when left alone. So we all share a room for the time being." He shrugged," Liam calls me a worry wart, but I think its safer." He paused a surprised look crossing his face. He was being very social, more so than usual, and it surprised him how easy it was for him. He laughed sheepishly, a hand running through his hair as he smiled. " Sorry, I can ramble sometimes."

"Pawprints!" Kaimi exclaimed, thinking what an excellent clue paw prints would be. She didn't have the television experience Todd had, the only movies she'd seen were the Indiana Jones movies, and Naomi didn't encourage a lot of tv watching. Not that Kaimi could often sit still long enough to watch tv. She liked to jump on the couch while the tv was on. "Or maybe...." She paused, excited, "dragonprints! I didn't know you need a dandy dandy notebook to find clues..." She sighed a little. "I dont have one at all. Maybe my mom or your dad has a dandy dandy notebook with them?" She glanced calculatingly at the adults. Maybe they themselves were naughtys.
Naomi laughed, waving at Kaimi when the little girl looked over at them, not sure she felt comfortable with the expression on her daughter's face. "Oh, don't stop talking." She shrugged, "it's nice to have a real conversation with a person. I'm so used to talking only with patients that real conversation always seems to be an unexpected blessing. Kaimi has her own room... but she does alright, except for the sleepwalking. I've put up a baby gate and that seems to have taken care of it for now."

Todd nodded sagely, for he thought himself all knowing when it came to finding clues with his dandy dandy notebook. " You put the clues in it, so you don't forget! Then you sit on big chair and think, think, think!" He nodded again, his memory serving him well. "It's best way to figure out clues, and get them right." He followed Kaimi's gaze and blinked at the two adults. " Well Daddy Elliot doesn't have one, I lefts it at homes. Maybe your Mommy does! Wanna ask?"
Elliot smiled brightly, his sheepishness instantly disappearing. " Liam wants to give Todd his own room, but I think we should wait until he's a little bigger." His gaze went to the children as he watched Naomi wave, he too waved at Todd. "What could those two be up to..."

The poor parents were about to find out...
"Good idea!" Chirped Kaimi, "Naomi always has stuff in her bag." She stood up, brushing the sand off her skirt, and grinned at Todd. "C'mon!" With that cheerful invitiation, she took off towards the grownups shouting "Mommy! Mommyweneedahandydandynotebooktocatchthenaughtys!"
"I couldn't share a room, not with that one." Naomi laughed. "She..." Her voice trailed off at Kaimi's screeching. Nothing appeared to be wrong, but she certainly couldn't make out the rushed syllables her daughter was shouting with such excitement.

Todd scrambled to his feet, both arms held out to keep his balance as he ran after Kaimi. " You think she'll have it?" He tried his best to keep his feet up, arms still held out as he ran. " Daddy! I tolds you I needed dandy dandy notebook today!"
Elliot chuckled softly," Todd is reaching that point as well. Too little of space for all three of us, especially with how rowdy the lil' guy is starting to get.." He trailed off, a brow arching slowly as he watched Todd and Kaimi make there way over here. " Oh jeez I told him.." He stood up, calling out to Todd. " I told you not to run like that Todd Faustus! You will fall and hurt yourself!"

Kaimi paused for Todd to catch up, and then paused again a little breathless from shouting and running at the same time. She looked up at Elliot and gave him a bright smile, then looked at Naomi. "Mom!" She panted, "we need a dandy dandy notebook. For clues. Please?" She added the please because it would, she hoped, make Naomi more likely to grant the request.
Naomi blinked at the two toddlers, feeling her insides get all smushy at the sight of Todd's big blue eyes. Awww... "A notebook?" She was already rummaging through their bag to see what she had inside. A part of her wondered what the point was, since Kaimi didn't know how to write. But she found a composition notebook she'd been taking notes in and, tearing out the written-on pages handed it to Kaimi. She also managed to dig out a purple crayon (how had that gotten in there?)
"What kind of clues are you two looking for?" Asked Naomi mildly, curious as to what sort of mischief her daughter was getting into this time.

Todd slowed down, but only slightly, for he didn't want to make Kaimi wait too long for him. But once he had caught up, he too was slightly winded. Before he could get a complaint out, Elliot picked him up, setting him upon his lap as he sat back down on the bench next to Naomi. Todd huffed before turning his attention to Naomi, eyes sparkling with hope. " Hi Kaimi's mommy! You have a notebook right?" He watched as she began to rummage in her bag, eyes growing all the wider once he caught sight of the notebook and crayon. Not exact but it was close enough. "Perfect!"
Elliot arched a brow at the mention of dandy dandy notebook, but the thought didn't take long to make sense as he sighed tiredly. "They mean Handy Dandy Notebook. Its from a kid's show on Earth apparently. Liam plays it for Todd all the time. A blue dog sets clues all over the place, and they figure out the clues by writing them down in the handy Dandy Notebook." He had sat down and watched the show with Todd enough times to know more than the basics.
Todd beamed at Elliot proudly. " Zactly! We need to find dragon prints to find the treasure the naughtys hid!"

Clutching the notebook and crayon, Kaimi grinned. "C'mon! Lets go find the dragon prints!" She beamed at Todd, so happy he knew how to track clues.
Naomi, in the meantime, blinked. "Ah... I haven't seen that show." She eyed her daughter, who was preparing to run off again with Todd. "Kaimi, did I hear you say you're looking for nazi treasure?"
"Yep! The naughtys made it so we can't get to China and stoled the dragon treasure. So we're gonna find it!"
Naomi groaned. "It's the Indiana Jones." She said in an embarrassed aside to Elliot. "I'm so sorry."
