no actually... the written language is unbelievably similar to Spanish, but the pronouciation is more like French surprised for some reason when I listen to Portuguese I'm always under the impression that it's Spanish being spoken by a Dutch or German speaker confused
It really is incredibly similar. I've heard a few things in Portuguese and I've turned the volume up, believing it was Spanish and then I've found out its not.

'Eu gosto de voce' and 'Voce e engracado/-a' are the only phrases I know. Learned them from some Brasilian exchange student friends. Ah, I made so many friends from different countries while I was an exchange student in Minnesota. I really miss all of them and learning bits and pieces of their languages and cultures... sad

My exchange programme wasn't organized by my school. It was encouraged by it, but I had to pay for it by myself. EF, my exchange organization is a private one. But I'm sure there are exchange programms in Canada as well. I want to spend a year in France/Canada/New Zealand/Great Britain or Australia after graduation. That'd be great fun!

indeed it would ^^

I actually am going to France in a few years (or at least I hope I'll be able to sweatdrop ) for a French learning programme, but it has nothing to do with my school. I mean, I just want to go there to learn the secrets of French woman domokun how is it that they eat so many croissants and still stay thin, whereas I don't eat any chocolate or candy and I'm still fat? crying

Croissants are fattening? That's a new one... Well, I stayed in the US a year and mayn people gained about 10-20 pounds there. I gained let's say 4 kilogramms. Not too much if you ask me. Don't worry, honey, you'll be fine.Just do some sport and learn a lot of new languages (sports for your brain) and you'll stay fit and thin!

Not all of them do. There are also cheese croissants or plain croissants. Also delicious! I like to eat plain croissants with either jelly or cream cheese and turkey/ham. Baguettes are really tasty, too. Just had a Croque today. It's a big baguette avec melted cheese and different meat or vegetables in them.

Yeah, it's very much like Spanish.
Last summer I've been in Brazil and I could converse with brazilians even not knowing the language... I think Portuguese is kinda funny in it's pronunciation ^^.
