roxianna French is my third language, and I'm not fluent at it in the least...I just can't catch on to what French people are talking about. They talk too fast! Yeah, I have the same problems. However, I can read it very well, and do...(reads all of her Harry Potter books in French) French is my second language...I picked it up because I was really sick, and I had nothing to do except for a dusty old French/English dictionary...I guess the disease was really a blessing in disguise. If you're looking for a good grammar book, I'd suggest the Barron's series...In my opinion, it's the best series for grammar books. They've also got verb books, too, which are very helpful, especially with the confusing verbs in French.

I have never heard "amour" used for anything not related to love confused do you have any specific sentences in which it's used that you can show me where you think it means something other than "love"?

I live in canada, and I've taken basic french from grades 1-10. I can read it okay, speak it okay, but I'm best at writing it. Writing seems to be my strong point. I might carry on a decent coversation if people didn't speak to fast.

I'm currently in French II at school. I can't speak the language very well, but I can read and write it fairly decently. It's a pretty fun language to learn.
And it's good to know that Italian will be easier to learn after taking French. I really wanna learn some Italian.

I took a year of French...It was ok I suppose, but I'd rather listen to someone speak it than acctually speak it myself.

It was quite a pleasant shock to receive a French Harry Potter book (I also have first editions of #1-3 from Great Britain mrgreen ). My French teacher gave me extra credit for showing it to her, hee hee.

Little Lottie I took a year of French...It was ok I suppose, but I'd rather listen to someone speak it than acctually speak it myself. I screw up pronounciations sooo badly. But I'm good at learning vocab words (writing and understanding, not speaking them myself though).
