He couldn't even get the god damned kick in. Reyin's cross blade, which was a totally unorthodox and out of the blue move, was very commendable. Kuroha tried his best to lean away from it, but the blade just came on too rapidly. Though it was but a scratch, the longsword had been able to cross through his white upper yukata, and cut about a quarter inch into his chest. First blood had been drawn...

YEAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

The crowd cheered. Reyin had definitely gotten their favor.

The samurai had no time to be caught off guard though, he had an open spot and he needed to take it. With his trained quickdrawing right hand, he reached for the top of his Dragon Fang's scabbard, the blade still within it, and he would draw it out as if it were his blade. He'd pivot on his right foot, turn towards Reyin, and draw the entire scabbard outwards. The battering weapon would lunge outwards for the now -hopefully- undefended face of Reyin, particularly the right temple. Reyin was in for one hell of a headache if it hit, what with the blades added weight, and the ivory carved scabbard combined together. He'd get something a bit worse than a rocking headache, that was for sure.

Reyin was all smiles as he completed his stroke, right hand held way out to his side, sword jutting out, pointed towards the upper stands of the crowd. His left hand was held at chest level, palm open, fingers pointed off to the right.

"Heh, not bad for a kid, hu--OHFU-"

Reyin didn't have much time to react. He ducked his head down, turned away from the scabbard, and lifted his left hand. That in itself wasn't quite as much protection as he wanted, as the scabbard first struck the palm of his hand, pushed the unprepared arm back across his chest, and then smacked Reyin square in the temple. The overall impact was less than the samurai would have liked, as the hand had served to absorb some of the impact.

The young man rolled off to his left side, obviously caught off guard by the swing. His head hurt, but at least he had done something to keep himself from slipping into a coma. He quickly scrambled to his feet, and shot his eyes upwards, expecting the samurai to be bearing down on him.

OHHH!!!!

That shot rocked the crowd, they all felt that one. They quickly returned to their cheers though, the fanbase evened out once more. The Silver haired ronin would not wait, he had to keep this up. His left hand reached under his right arm, right where the hilt of his blade was now, and he drew it out with quick reserve.

"Not bad for a kid? Nah, not bad at all...."

He'd say, finishing off Reyins intended sentence before. His left hand twisted the Dragon Fang around, showing the blunt flat side of the blade, before raising both it and the scabbard above his head. He'd first bring down the Ivory scabbard (Right Hand), aimed specifically to strike over Reyin's left shoulder. But a split half-second would pass, not even, before his blade would come over and down, low to the side of Reyin's right knee. With the blunt force of either attack, it was cause for some serious thinking on Reyin's part.

"Shi-!"

Reyin didn't have much time to get accustomed to standing back up. His head was throbbing and standing up so quick had given him a bit of a head rush, but he was far from out of the fight. Two weapons were raised over Kuroha's head, and Reyin only had the one drawn.

That was a bit of a problem, but thankfully one of those weapons was a blunt object.

Reyin's left arm shot upwards, forearm moving to take the impact of the scabbard in full. The dull thud of ivory striking bone resonated across the arena and the crowd's volume rose in approval.

Thankfully for Reyin, it was quite a trip for the sword to come around from over Kuroha's head to Reyin's knee. It bought him just enough time to take a short step forward with his left foot, plant, and bring his right leg upwards.

The entire motion was rather unorthodox when a simple kick would have sufficed, but Reyin was far too flashy for his own good. As his right foot came up he set his foot square on Kuroha's chest, partially overlapping the wound he had just inflicted.

Then, as the sword continued through with its motion, almost assuredly now going to strike against the inside of Reyin's left knee instead of the outside of his right, Reyin pushed up with his left foot.

Kuroha's chest acted as a platform for Reyin to balance on with his right foot as he arced his body backwards, delivering a moonsault kick with his left leg, aiming to kick Kuroha square in the chin before pushing off with his right foot. The final push wasn't strong enough to cause Kuroha to fall over backwards, but instead create some separation between the two bodies.

There wasn't enough vertical clearance for Reyin to complete his flip, so when he landed he was lucky enough to land with his left knee down and right leg forward instead of flat on his face.

The kid was tough. The samurai would definitely give him that, and he was very persistant. This was the definition of a good opponent...

Kuroha had very little time to react to Reyin's own counter, having made one successful strike with the Ivory hilt. As soon as he felt the increased pressure over his lightly wounded chest, he knew something was about to happen, something he couldn't really avoid all too well. He noticed Reyin's leg move.

'Damn.'

He thought. All he could do was lean his head back as far as he could, in an attempt to reduce or even avoid the blow to the face. No good....

FWAAM!!!!

WOOOHOOO!!!! YEAAHHH!!!!

And the crowd went wild at the site of a kick to the face. These shits were brutal!

Kuroha's chin would be struck with the tip of Reyin's foot. his teeth clacked together, but his balance had not yet been lost, not until Reyin kicked off for a backflip. He stumbled back, the taste of blood fresh in his mouth. He had gotten rocked in the head pretty good by that, enough for him to need a short moment to find his bearings. By the time he had, he gave a very slightly bloody smile to Reyin, who would have just landed into his kneel here.

The samurai jutted his arms out to each side, the blades edge no ffaced outwards as it normally should be. Things needed to be taken up a notch now.

He concentrated on Reyin. He needed to plot this out, so he let the eager warrior regain his own bearings as well. He would wait once more....

Reyin's head tucked downwards, hands moving to press against the ground in as good an imitation of a three point stance as he could manage with a sword in his right hand. His lips split into a grin.

"Heh."

Reyin launched himself forward from the ready position, picking up as much speed as he could in such a short amount of time, hoping to try and catch Kuroha off guard. Judging by the rate he was running and the lack of attempting to slow down, it looked almost like Reyin was just planning on plowing Kuroha over.

As he drew closer, his attention became more and more focused on the sword held in Kuroha's right hand, because a bladed weapon was just a touch more disconcerting than a scabbard.

Though if Kuroha did nothing, he'd find himself on the receiving end of a rather mean shoulder charge from the kid.

! -que MGS warning sound-

Kurohas eyes never left Reyin's position. He had been examining the young warrior the entire time, and he had all the time in the world to react to it. Well, at least a seconds worth.

Kuroha would begin to raise his right hand in the air, bringing his blade up with him in a very rapid motion. And then, without warning....

"Tch...."

Kuroha would pivot back on his right leg, and slide his left to the right, just as Reyin got within two feet. The blade was but a trick, watch one hand, keep the other out of sight. This was gonna hurt. Kuroha's left arm raised up in the pivot, and very rapidly fell once more, the Ivory scabbard curving slightly. The scabbard itself would land its mark right to the back of Reyin's head if it hit, and if it did, Reyin was going to feel it, oh boy was he going to feel it.

Reyin wasn't blind, and his attention wasn't so focused on the sword that he forgot to look at the guy holding the weapon. Kuroha pivoted, lifted the sword up, and Reyin adjusted.

Instead of running straight past the guy so he'd get clocked in the back of the head by a scabbard, he planted his left foot and slid on the dusted arena floor. His body turned so that he was now face-to-face with the samurai, and as the scabbard came down Reyin lifted his right hand up, sword coming with it. The sword intercepted the scabbard before it clocked him in the side of the face again. Once Reyin's slide finally stopped, he lashed out with a straight kick aimed towards the center of Kuroha's chest. Unlike the push off from his moonsault kick, this was more than just a gentle push.

And all the while, the blonde-haired youth just kept smiling. Despite the throbbing headache, the small river of blood dripping from his temple, and despite the fact this was a serious endeavor for most people, he just couldn't help himself.

Because the whole atmosphere was just so damn cool.

The overall environment "cool"? Blasphemy! t was beyond such a word. Now was not the time to argue about the battles atmosphere though, as it was time for the endurance part of this little get together.

Kuroha was half-caught off guard by this, but had physically prepared for such an oncoming attack far before the tournament had even started. In fact...

-flashbaaack!!!!-

"Kuroha, you must train harder! Endure more pain my student, for your endurance shall count for use in later days."
-Late Grandmaster Higashi Tokuwara, Kuroha's first Sensei

-end flashback-

Kuroha would slide his right leg forward, and actually lean into Reyin's direction as his leg began to lift at the end of his slide. Kuroha was happy enough to have made contact once more with his hilt.

SLAM!!!

"TCH...."

Reyin's leg slammed right into Kuroha's chest, and the opposing forces of Kuroha's body and Reyin's leg interlocked, like two blades in an epic battle. His upper yukata, stained with a slant of blood, showed the impact force of the kick itself, a shockwave of foced air blowing over. He felt an enormous pain, but his endurance was still greater. And then, without any warning, Kuroha's right hand hooked up from below, aimed to strike Reyin square under the jaw in his current awkward position.
