Aine sighed as she finished writing the last entry in her diary. She placed it carefully away in the drawers, putting it all in order neatly. She did not know what to do now and there was not much to do because of her fear.

'Should I go outside?...maybe I should, it would be good for curing...facing my fear...' She thought in her mind, having trouble of choosing, but in the end, she was walking towards the door. Turning the plastic covered knob, she opened the door slowly and it slowly revealed the hall. Stepping into the hallway, she closed her door behind her. Aine scanned the place first, it was a very large place to be in. She knew the place because she had been in the asylum for so long, so she would not get lost. Walking through the hallway, her eyes move cautiously around her and she was a bit jittery.

In her eyes, Aine was seeing bits of germs around, decomposing trash, dead compost...everything around her she would see so much disgusting corruptions. She was carefully avoiding it since it was only around her, but not in her way. As she walked, she did not pay attention to how she walked so therefore she tripped and fell, soon all hell had come into her mind.

Once she fell to the floor, the insects, the deceased compost, anything dead and rotting with maggots, all the gunk, was surrounding her and getting closer. She screamed, screamed as loud as she could and getting away from the things that were getting closer. Tears fell from her eyes, she was scared to death right now. That is what her disorder caused her to think and see, mysophobia, such a cruel and demeaning thing to the mind. Cause from a childhood incident, it came to her ever since.

"Help!" Aine screamed in agony, still trying to get away. Though in her mind it seems like it, in reality, right now around her, there is nothing except the empty hall that is filled with her screams.

The lady walked with confidence, her mocha brown hair swinging with each step. But she froze as she heard a scream. First, she thought it was merely her imagination. But Mina recognized that scream. Aine, she thought in distress as she broke into a run.

She navigated the maze of hallways with ease, and soon came upon the girl. She knelt down beside Aine, putting both hands on her shoulder. "Aine," she called gently, moving one hand to the girl's cheek.

Georg sighed in dismay as he patiently listened to Yuri. Most of which he'd already heard before, whether it be by paper or word of mouth. Flames fascinated the young girl, just like it did many other young people. Perhaps it was due to the all consuming power it possessed or the hypnotic dance of light, fire was a beautiful thing. But it was just like admiring a tiger in the cage. The tiger was beautiful until it was let out of it's cage.

"You are no demon. I've told you this before Miss Yuri." The doctor said firmly as he knelt down next to the girl. Even kneeling he was still quite taller than she, and so he had to haunch over a bit as if to watch the fire burn. Even though her situation was not funny in the least bit his golden eyes reflected the flicker of light and seemed to laugh of their own accord. "It would have been much easier if you were though." He allowed his voice to trail off as he reached over and quite literally closed his hand around the fire, extinguishing the flames with in his tight fist. The fire gave one last defiant, smoldering hiss and was silent. Georg winced slightly at the sting but his calloused hand was tough enough to with stand such a small fire. With no fire left to look at, Georg and Yuri's eyes met evenly and he continued. "...You see Miss Yuri, demons can be banished back to hell, but since I have not been able to banish you...I am certain that you are not one of them." He opened his tight fist and allowed ash and charred remains fall to the ground before extending the same hand to the girl. "If you please, I'm confiscating your stash. I'll also have the guards do a full shake down with you to make certain you're not hiding anything else that's flammable. Would you like to join me inside now? We can talk and maybe I can find out just why you love watching the world through the light of a match." Georg could never force patients to do what he wanted, that wasn't his job. His job was to make certain they were safe and getting treatment for their illness. However, those that were able, were allowed to walk freely.

The days of strapping the insane to horrible torture devices while doctors (or mad scientists) prodded them with equally scary tools were only a faint memory that existed in lame horror movies. The fields of modern medicine had improved much and so had the welfare and care of their patients. Of course that didn't mean that Georg was a push over. Among the doctors and nurses he was considered as a lethal enforcer. Not one of his most prided nick names, but Georg cared about the safety of all patients. The good doctor only checked out if there was an immediate threat to the patient or others around. He'd had to be more stern with Yuri unfortunately due to the slack in man power. But with all things considered Georg did try to be nice. Talking seemed to be a method most gave up on and for good reasons. But it never did hurt to speak to a patient.

When the lady came to Aine, touching her cheek, she flinched back to get away from the touch. She was mysophobic, nothing can touch her or she will break down.

"Don't touch me!" She yelled, shivering from the things around her that she sees. Everything was just too much, so much contamination. "You can't touch me...they are everywhere!" She shouted, tears filling her eyes. Her breathing was heavy, her eyes in fear seeing all the maggots, the insects...anything that is deceased. "Why won't they go away!...Make them go away!" She cried. She felt that the things, the gunk was touching her, but there was nothing there at all. If Aine had figured that this would be happening, she would have not gone out of her room at all. Soon, she realized that if she keep thinking like this, they might have to give her the shot, the shot of medicine from the needle that makes all of the things go away. Though there is one problem, she is also deathly afraid of any needles or syringe with the medicine that comes near her.

"Don't give me the shot..." She whispered desperately to the woman, backing away even more, realizing she might have the medicine. "I don't want the shot..." Even though she really needed it to get the infested things around her to be gone.

"Come on Aine. I promise it won't hurt. Don't make me call for help."

Mina spoke softly and gently to the fearful girl. She did not reach out to touch her, nor did she go any closer. She just looked at the girl with soft blue eyes, hoping she would come to her on her own. Working in the Asylum was hard, and sometimes heartbreaking. Mina found herself shaking each night as she fell asleep. She just kneeled there, watching aine.

Yuri listened to him willing herself to believe what he had to say but if she was no demon, then why did she kill and hurt so many others. Thinking back to the night she had been caught she had known others had died in her fires, but what got her caught was looking back. Staring into the flame that lit her mortal soul, that let her see the world and hear their screams. She had been caught because she went back to help the people in the complex. Not stop the flame, but get them out. As the flame was suddenly extinguished she looked up to Georg with wide eyes as if he had just killed her best friend before shivering. Though the wind was still, Yuri felt a cold blast rush through her as colors faded even her vibrant honey and amber eyes seemed to lose their sparkle like a picture left out to long in the sun. She could feel all that made her human slipping away as he asked for her matches and the candle causing a swift rush of words to come out, “Please don’t Georg, I’ve been good! No fires in the building or on the grasses and always near water. I won’t hurt anyone else I swear!” Looking in his eyes hers filled with tears before she became still. Raising a hand she willingly gave him the candle though the matches would be harder before she used a slender finger to wipe the tear off her cheek removing it with the flick of a hand when she spoke again her voice was distant only the lingering feel or emotion left inside her, “Thank you. You are the first person who has met my eye since I was convicted, even Xena won’t look straight at me knowing the damage I have caused.” And that was true, 47 arson charges they could link to her, at least 20 deaths and dozens who would need therapy and help because of what they had survived. Closing her eyes she looked away as the voices within her head were arguing once more though instead of the two she had always heard there was a third that sounded very similar to her voice when it held emotion. A hollow laugh escape her and when she was in this state it was easy to see how rumors had been started before she turned to Georg in the same hollow flat voice, “You have someone arguing in your favor. I suppose I could talk today if it will cease there persistent bickering. “ Standing smoothly she tucked held the box of matches lightly in one hand as she started to walk, “She says you can have them after I tell you what she has to say.” Though the voice never wavered there was something different about Yuri. She had made off comments about voices before but it was abundantly clear that she treated them like white noise and before the two voices had always been ‘him’ and ‘the b***h’ never anything more.

The seventeen year old girl sniffed, still shaking from fear and seeing the things around her, just waiting for her. Aine shook her head as she brought her knees up to her chest, her hands over her head.

"No!...I don't want it! I just want all this to go away!" She shouted. "I don't want that syringe...it's painful...I don't want it..." She whispered in despair. Soon, a sharp pain went through her abdomen and her eyes widened in shock as her hand went to her stomach. Her eyes closed in pain, the pain was unbearable, it came with the disorder from time to time.

In Aine's mind, the contamination is starting to get closer and surrounding her. Now, along with the pain and the things around her, she could not take it.
"No!" She screamed loudly, going hysterical, trembling more so than before.

Georg grunted, a habit he would exhibit when he disagreed or disliked something. He rather not give patients a foot hold to get over him, however, since Yuri was co operating, he didn't see the problem in allowing her to have her way this time. And it wasn't as if she would be able to cause anyone harm with her fiery passion as long as he was with her.

The doctor stood and followed after her as close as her own shadow. "I am pleased that you have agreed to speak with me Miss Yuri, it has been awhile since we last spoke. I'm sorry I haven't been around as much." He meant that honestly as Yuri with her infatuation with fire was rather dangerous. He worried about her often. And even though he knew she never meant to harm anyone, playing with fire as she did often did, would get someone hurt.

It wasn't that he was busy handling the rest of the patients, either, he made his routine rounds and budgeted his time efficiently. But he always considered Yuri a special case. And so it was with her in mind that Georg began to work on a small project for her.

A mania that revolved around fire was best observed when fire was around.

Georg had been carefully planning this out to ensure the safety of others was not compromised while conducting his studies. After all, if you can do it safetly, don't do it at all. Plus he never considered his methods unorthodox in the least bit.

As the minds of the youths that come here continue to change and contort into the most truly bizarre, so to must Dear Diary's modus operandi. Doctors in this field could no longer rely on the standard methods if they hoped to ever keep up with the institutions patients. Why, being creative in helping their patients is exactly how this grand institution gained it's second name! And most certainly Xena would rather have it this way. Dear Diary existed to help those that could not be helped through conventional means, and doctors were always called upon to rise to the occasion.

One aspect of why Georg liked being here.

Georg guided Yuri back into Dear Diary, passing random patients and guards along the way. He spoke little more till they reached the lounging area. "Please have a seat where ever you are comfortable and we can begin when you are ready Miss Yuri." Georg already had his clip board with him, and in it all the documents he kept on each and all patients. He started most one on one sessions this way, but every one of those sessions never quite progressed the same way.

The walk was silent not that Yuri noticed as her brow furrowed to as close to anger as this emotionless state would allow. She let him lead so it wasn’t openly obvious that her nails were digging into her palms but this particular day the voices were ceaseless as they saw fit to recreate scenes with a shocking amount of accuracy when it came to words said and the way voices sounded and she was tired of hearing it. Many a day she could just tell them to shut up and they would stop but since the coming of the third voice they had become more active. Bickering while reminding her of trail and people begging for her help as the buildings burned. It wasn’t until they were within the lounging room that all fell silent as Georg said she could sit where she wished. Yuri looked around the room hollow eyes before choosing a chair along the back wall pulling her feet up to wrap her arms around her knees she said in an empty voice, “I like this one, did you have any particular section of life, or any event you wanted me to start at because she is being quite persistent I start in the middle.” As she looked to him now all traces of previous emotion were gone leaving a hollow shell of a person looking back at him.

Chikara stared blankly up at the ceilings, her blue eye wondering over the fake stars she had insisted Lawton get her. Though they weren't the real thing, she was reminded of the stars that lined the skies at nigh in Africa, one of the few things she had liked. Sighing, she rolled over on her side and glanced at the clock on the opposite wall. It was odd how quickly these things passed. Kara sighed once more before slipping slowly and quietly out of bed. She grabbed a pair of jeans and a black tank top with a silver, what Lawton called, heart in the bottom right corner, hugging her slim hip.

Glancing around the room for a moment, she made a mental note to write in her diary later in the night. Pulling open the door and stepping outside, she was instantly bombarded by the screams and distraught cries of Aine Hiyo, one of the few girls who she thought was rather silly and Kara didn't particularly understand why she was here. Scared of germs and bugs and the like? What a child... And those screams; already they were reminding her of the screams of the people she had killed, the cries of children in pain or begging to be saved. It was more than enough for a few silent tears to leak out of her eyes and definetly enough to make a small anger burn at the other girl for her dramatics. Her hands fisted at her sides, Chikara glanced at the doctor that was kneeling before Hiyo and watched impassively, though her eyes seemed to say 'hurry the hell up.'

Glancing back at Hiyo, Chikara was once again reminded of the fact that not only did the other girl not belong here, but Kara didn't either. Just because she tended to have a few flashbacks now and then didn't mean she belonged in DDA. That was the only thing that she just didn't like about what Lawton had done for her; putting her in this odd place with all these other people and their problems. The only thing she really wanted was to stay nearer to him, to be able to see the world that was 'outside.' Growling as she realized where those thoughts were leading her, Kara sent one more disdainful look at Hiyo and the nurse, who had yet to do anything, she quickly pushed past them and escaped lest she be tricked into thinking about things that she just didn't want to think about.

Slipping her hands into the pockets of her jeans, Chikara carefully made her way to the dining room, counting to 10 continuesly in order to calm herself down, like Lawton had showed her. It wouldn't do her any good to attack someone because of an attack and end up in solitary confinement, though it was always fun to see the doctors reactions to such things.

Aaron was interrupted in his walk downstairs when he happened upon a blonde girl in the hallway, assuming the fetal position, and a staff member trying to calm her. He caught her words about denying the use of a syringe. Truthfully, Aaron had little empathy. He couldn't see himself in the situation of this girl. So naturally he responded how he would to any other person.

"Don't be a baby about it," he said, giving her a slightly glaring look. "Sometimes you have to undergo pain to come out on top." He had learned so in high school and middle school fights.

Colette shook herself. She was being stupid. Carefully she picked the glass out of her left foot, wincing at the pain. She hoped that she had gotten it all out. Now, about hiding the evidence... she didn't want the staff to know she had had another incident. She gathered up the pieces in the palm of her hand and glanced out before tossing the shards into the bushes two stories down.

She brushed off her hands on her jean skirt and then returned inside to examine her injury. The patient sighed, rubbing the irritated area around the puncture wound. How was she going to hide that? She decided to finally wear her mostly unused black sneakers with high socks. Then she tried walking around. If you looked closely you could tell she had a slight limp. She emerged out into the hallway to see the green-haired newbie, the brown-haired staff member, and the germaphobic girl. Apparently the last was suffering another panic attack.

Aine tried to calm down, she really did, stopping to attempt to take deep breath and the screams that wanted to come out for relief of the pain. Her eyes closed tight as her gloved hands fisted into a ball. She attempted to sit up, her arms as support and she began to take deep breaths under the mask on her mouth. Aine turned to the guy that spoke to her, her eyes filled with tears unshed.

"This...this is not p...physical pain" She tried to say in a soft stuttering voice. "Its internal...you are n...not the one that is scared of everything around you, seeing all the...unsanitary things...do you not see...all the dead d...decomposing things..." She said, but not as a question at the end.

Aine was trembling now, trying to be more brave, the still the contamination was all around her, but she tried her best to ignore. "M...Miss..." Aine said towards the supervisor. "I just wanted to get something to eat...I did not know that I would have a attack..." She said with such innocence in her blue eyes.

Aaron's 'advice' didn't seem to be helping, and it felt awkward for him, looking at her wide crystal eyes. Still, now he'd gone and gotten himself involved. Why couldn't he learn to shut his own mouth? To avoid saying anything, he glanced around. The girl was definitely crazy. The asylum was as sanitary as a hospital to his eyes. His eyes scrolled over to a tall blonde girl with dark, almost soul-less black eyes, watching the scene as well, her face blank. Why did she give him the creeps?

Georg looked around to find a seat, a rather deep red plush arm chair seemingly out of place, but very much in it's element. He adjusted it so that he was facing Yuri who was curled up on her chair. Just as she drew her knees against her, as if to be closer to herself, Georg could see that faint soul flicker and receede. She was with drawing with in herself. This was a regular occourance as the man's notes revealed. The the mentions of other identities with in the mind was not. His clip board was opened and already on an empty page. A few notes were quickly taken of what he'd observed so far.

This was just the opening moves, Georg always had to steele himself, his soul and spirit. For the world he entered was always dark, broken path ways and unclear signs abound. His only guide in this world was the emotionless child before him. But to find the core of this raging flame, he had to brave the flames themselves. This was never easy. Never got easier either. For him, hearing the pain these children endured was hard to where you wish there was something you could do for them, to reach out and touch those wounded hearts and shattered minds. But it was always dangerous to wear your heart on your sleeve. Sometimes the patients would be afraid to talk, or it pained them so much that even the supervisors would feel it and use this as means to stop. But sometimes you needed to push them a little further. Just a little.

Breathing silently, deeply, Georg nodded curtly. "Start where you wish to start. If it be in the middle then start there." He said simply. A lone gold eye stared directily at Yuri, as if trying to see inside her. These children, always running from them, the people who wanted to help them! They perhaps had no clue just how much love it took to continue in this line of work. And that each session, was a trial, where that love was put to the test over and over again. Sometimes in situations like these Georg wanted to say a loud 'Please don't run from me....It may seem like the whole world is against you and you are alone, but I'm still here and I'm trying to reach you.' But as always, the man kept his bearing and silence.

Her neutral expression didn’t waver as he spoke though one of the inner voices cried silently in fear about what was about to be spoken. Yuri had told the court and her lawyers a lot. What she had not told them was she lied on the stand. With her arms around her knees she held the box of matches lightly in her hand and for a brief moment they meant nothing to her as she started her story,

“I have been trying to think of a story I haven’t told you before and I think I have found the perfect one. I don’t believe I even told my lawyer this one, nor the judge, it wasn’t their business.” Meeting his gaze coolly Yuri’s soul was buried deep within her as were her emotions as she spoke, “The last fire I started before I was caught and taken to the hospital, I am sure you have read the report. It claims I said it got out of control and I was caught inside. I was surprised so many people took it as the truth so simple. 47 near perfect cases and over two dozen more across several states that they will never be able to link to me, they are naive. I am better than that and anyone with a brain would know it.” If possible her eyes seemed to take on a new depth and distance as she started to speak of the past, like dark pools where one could be lost forever as it seemed she was, “You know it was snowing on the ground. Well below freezing but what does that mean to me? I am neither hot nor cold. This room is neither light nor dark to me. Just as the apartment complex I studied was just another building to me.” Taking a slow breath she broke her gaze away, “I didn’t even need gasoline though I used it. The owner had willingly shown me the floor plans. Let me walk the hallways. The building was old and dry begging to be free and so I did. I had used chalk earlier that day to mark where to start the flame all power outlets so it would look like a massive electrical short, and it did, everything was going so perfectly until I looked back.” As Yuri fell into the past she gripped the box until it crumpled in her palms but she ignored the matches falling to the ground as splintered pieces dug into her palms, “I heard them,” she said her voice cracking for the first time giving it the odd effect of her talking over herself. Like there was a second form speaking over the monotone but in unison with it her voice filling with venom, “I heard the children screaming, parents begging for mercy, the smell of burning flesh and wood as they burned alive, as I burned them alive.” Though she didn’t move her anger was obvious though it wasn’t toward Georg. It was directed inward. Her lack of progress wasn’t due just toward her mania, Yuri had become her own worst enemy. As her voice faded back down to it’s hollow tone, “I went back.” she said as one would a confession, “I went back to save them. I had purposely trapped them but I knew how to create an opening to get them out. There was 309 people in that building when I set it on fire. Out of 309, 186 were dead, 90 were admitted to hospitals for severe burns when the building collapsed and some died there, the rest lived though not with out the scars that accompany the tragedy. And not just physical scars.” Yuri’s voice faded away as she pulled her knees in closer to her.

Part of her was relieved that the truth was out there in some form, another part was horrified that she dared to. The newest voice whispering thank you in her ear while the harsher women’s voice reenacted the screams as the male voice tried to subdue the harsh reminder and cackling laughs. Moving slowly, Yuri dropped the box of matches before crossing her arms at the wrist however instead of sitting their she dug her nails into her wrist almost as if a part of her was trying to prove a point that no one else seemed to understand. She wasn’t callus in this state, she felt nothing. Watching as the blood started to well around her nails she didn’t flinch or look away but just watched it with hollow eyes as if she had forgotten George was there.
