Kensher smirked and walked beside the river, watching the poke-mir swim beside him. When she surfaced, he looked away, not about to be caught watching another. He strode purposefully out of habit, his head held high in the air; he was, after all, a legendary poke-mir and a strong and wise one at that.

Millennia felt Kensher's gaze on her, but resisted the temptation to turn around and watch him. What am I thinking? she thought a little bitterly. Nobody would really stay with her. But, trying to be optimistic, she continued swimming upstream towards the mountain. "Kensher," she asked hesitantly. "I was wondering if...you had an, um, acquaintance." She immediately ducked under the water, not believeing the words had really come out of her mouth.

Kensher blinked, looking down at Millennia. "An acquaintance...? What do you mean by that, exactly?" The path he was taking on the current side of the river was going to diverge into thick foliage.
Looking from the side he was on to the side across the water, he judged the distance; he'd need a running start, but he could certainly make it across. Stepping back, he readied himself, burst into a sprint, then lept over the water. He landed safely and dryly on the other side, then continued on beside the river, making no move to address what had just happened.

Millennia stared after Kensher. She thought about how swiftly he had reacted to the current situation. "Nevermind," she replied, trying to cooly dismiss the thought.
As they climbed higher, the air became colder and soon ice started floating downstream. Millennia quickened her pace to keep her blood circulating, all the while watching Kensher to see how he was managing.

"If it was something to be dismissed so easily, you shouldn't have brought it up in the first place..."
Kensher did note that the air around was becoming colder, and his breath was becoming visible. There was also steam arising from his body due to him being so much warmer than the air around him. "If the water is getting too cold, you should climb out before you get sick."

Millennia nodded as she tried to keep her teeth from chattering. She plunged headfirst into the water and resurfaced to shake off anything that had attached themselves to her during the journey. Shaking a little, she wearily climbed onto shore. She tried not to show her tiredness to Kensher for fear of scorn, but it was difficult. "Say," she started with her sides heaving. "Would taking a break be all right with you?"

Kensher looked over to Millennia and took in what he saw. "You should have spoken up earlier if you were tired. We can rest for a bit if you need to..." He had no scorn or displeasure in his voice; he knew that those who weren't legendaries like himself generally became tired easily.

Millennia blushed, shamefaced. "If it's really alright with you, then..."
She knew that she didn't have that much stamina, especially compared to one like Kensher, so she tried to regain her energy quickly, despite the cold. Oh my god, maybe he's thinks that I'm just a burden, she thought. Turning, she asked her question out loud. "Am I being a burden to you?"

Kensher walked over to her and gently blew his breath over her body, doing his best to try her. "You'll catch your death if you stay wet in this cold...." He paused, looking at her rather surprised when she asked if she was a burden. After a couple of minutes, he regained himself and shook his head. "No, you're not...."

Almost completely absentmindedly, Millennia drew closer to Kensher to share his warmth. As soon as she realized what she was doing, she drew back, ashamed, only lifting her head again hopefully when Kensher said she wasn't a burden. "Really? I mean..." she trailed off, confused.

"What would I have to gain by lieing...?" Kensher used one of his paws to gently pull the shivering Millennia closer to him. "Now just shush, the cold is apparently making you think silly thoughts...."

Millennia nodded, relieved, surprised, and anxious at the same time. Surely another namir wouldn't have feelings for her? Pushing her thoughts aside, she followed Kensher's advice and drew herself in to Kensher's warm, furry side, sighing with pleasure.

Kensher gave the female a small smile, keeping his paw wrapped around her. He gave a small yawn and lay down, relaxing; he'd nothing to fear at being attacked, since who in their right mind would attack a legendary as powerful as himself.

Millennia completely relaxed when Kensher lay down beside her with his smile. Forgetting everything, she burrowed deep into his side, snuggling in his thick, dark fur. "Kensher? Do you like me? I mean, as a friend?" she asked suddenly, wondering if this was all a mistake.

Kensher snorted and looked down at the female. "Again with the silly questions....." He radiated heat naturally, but he raised the temperature a bit more to try to warm Millennia up even more. "And the answer is yes....." He said after awhile in his rumbling voice.
