She couldn't quite understand his curiosity. She could understand why he could be curious, not having something makes you curious about it. What she couldn't quite grasp was that he was curious. She had always had wings so they seemed so very normal to her. She couldn't get why he would be so curious about something that seemed so normal. As she was thinking about this, her head began to hurt.
"Uhhhh...I dunno." She said squeezing her eyes shut trying to get rid of her headache. Why did everything confusing have to hurt her head? Opening one eye she turned her head back to look at her wings once again. She couldn't get what fascinated him so much about them but maybe that didn't matter.
As the pain in her head dulled she settled with a thought and spread her wings wide with a flourish. "Well...what do they smell like then?" She asked with her normal smile settling back on her face. If he wanted to know more about her wings then why not let him. They were partners now. That was a bond that meant they shouldn't have secrets between them.

"Like the type of wings a skilled theif would have!" He wasn't quite too sure exactly what they smelt like, or what they smelt like that he knew. They did just smell exactly like Carmine did. No real difference.
By now he felt like he was sweating. Even though the temperature out today was mild. Perhaps it was just the drain he felt from the adrenaline rushing out of his system.
Either way.

She smiled triumphantly flapping her wings a few times before tucking them back to her sides. It was uncomfortable to stretch them out so far and felt nice to be using them normally again. "Good, cause that's exactly the kind o' wings I got!" Her smile slowly faded never vanishing but slowly getting smaller.
All the energy seemed to have left her. It was all good and fun to jump and cheer and play but it wore her out quickly. The slight crash came much faster then normal now though. Perhaps it was because she had been startled out of it? The reason didn't matter. All that did was that she was getting tired now. She wondered if maybe he was too.
"I'm gettin thirsty." She said looking around to locate the stream she had glided over. Once she spotted it her smile widened again and she headed towards it. Nothing could pick up energy like a good drink, except for maybe a nap.

"Mmmhmmm!" Yes, certainly the energy shared between them had started to fade. And for some odd reason Lucky felt really drained as the adrenaline stopped pumping. A nap would have been good by now.
Following her over to the stream, the colt flopped down onto a soft patch of grass not too far from the waters edge and let his front legs curl under him. His eyes took on a lazy look as his ears wobbled back and forth. "So, what kinda things do great thieves do, huh? Besides fly awesomly of course and....steal things I guess." Lucky wasn't quite sure what anything anybody did actually. There had to be more to being a thief besides stealing things, wasn't there? You couldn't be thieving all the time, it would give you away and people would catch on.
But he was sure Carmine was smarter than to let herself get caught. The blind following the blind, perhaps.

As Carmine bent to drink from the stream she had to think. What exactly was it that thieves did? She had never really considered it before. She straightened and licked her lips before making her way over to the black colt. "I dunno what else we do. Pretty much steal things...but only he really hard to get stuff. Stealing a flower or feather from someone's easy but like taking a precious necklace is tricky..."
Some how, talking about her chosen path this way seemed a lot less interesting then it really was. She wanted to find some way to spice it up a bit. She needed to get the thrill across or risk sounding like her life was boring. She was not boring and would not have people thinking she was. "People come after you a lot so you gotta out fly them!" She seemed excited for a moment until she realized they had already gone after the fact that others often came to reclaim their things.
With a sigh she sank down into the grass beside Lucky, letting her wings hang loosely. "I dunno...my dad sometimes goes off with mares but he doesn't tell me what he's doin' with 'em. He just says not t'follow him."

Rolling over onto his back, he wriggled his body around. Letting the grass and dirt scratch as his back, spindly legs sticking up in the air. His ears flicked around as he listened to her. "Yea, I know that much."
As he kept scratching his back against the ground, he thought for a moment. "Well, ya gotta plan things out right? So thieves also make plans. And you gotta investigate and get information as to where some things are. Like if theres some...ancient treasure or somethin' somewhere. Plus hunting for it can be pretty fun I'm sure. Lots of adventure there!"
After satisfied with his scratching, Lucky rolled back onto his stomach. Legs folded up beneath him once more giving her side ways glance. "Your dad doesn't stick around your mom?"

She let out a little giggle as the colt flipped onto his back, he looked a bit silly. Her short tail flicked back and forth a few times as she listened. A wide grin spread over her face hearing Lucky listing things that thieves probably did. It made everything sound just as wonderful as it really was and it made her happy. "Yeah! Yeah! It's all sorts of adventure and danger and it's all awesome!"
Her good mood was slightly short lived, however, at his question. She fell silent and set her head down on the ground. "No...my mom's...she's not really like us...she's real nice and all but..." She lifted her head and looked back to her wings. She didn't want to say that they were the reason because they weren't at least not fully.
Her mother stuck around home a lot. She never went to far from the two-leggers village. Carmine loved her mother with all her heart but she didn't like to think that one of her parents was so dull.

Lucky gave his head a little shake. Dislodging any pieces of dirt or grass that decided to make a home in his two toned hair. "Mmmhmmm. Just gotta do some investigatin' and I'm pretty sure there's somethin' out there that no one's found yet. And sneaking! Gotta learn how to sneak good!"
His ears flicked back momentarily. It seemed he had hit a sour spot, or something to that extent with Carmine and he frowned. Though he wasn't all too sure why her mother and father didn't stick around one another. His did. Didn't everyone elses?
Nudging her shoulder lightly, he gave her a reassuring smile. "Hey now, don't be down. Theives can't be all mopey now can they? All that mopey-ness would compramise the adventure. And then where would you be? Not in very good shape thats where." He nodded his head affirmingly.

Her bright brown eyes lifted to look at Lucky before focusing on a patch of grass in front of her. Her eyebrows furrowed as she thought hard on the situation. After a few seconds she practically jumped to her feet. She flashed a big grin at Lucky and opened up her wings.
"You're right! It's not very much like a thief!" With a wink she beat her wings a few times pushing her up into the air a few inches. "So let's go on an adventure! Right now! There's this old tree my dad told me about! I bet we can find something in there. Let's go find it! Me and you!"
She would be a great thief and no worries about being like her mother were going to stop that. She wasn't boring now and she never would be. She would prove it too! "C'mon! I don't think it's too far from here."

Lucky was glad to see that Carmine got her spirit back now.
Scrambling to his feet, he watched her take off from the ground. Giving him body a few shakes, pieces of grass went flying. He lifted his tail and pranced in place a bit. "Thats the spirit!" His grin grew wider.
An ear perked at her mentioned an old tree. Old trees always seemed so mysterious. And what better place to find adventure or even treasure? Lifting his knees up high, he cantered in a circle once. "Sure sure! Lets go! Lead the way!"

"Alright! Gimme a sec!" She was excited. This would be her very first shot at a heist. If she remembered correctly someone stored there treasure in the tree she was thinking of. With Lucky with her she was almost certain that they'd be able to find something. Now to find the tree.
Giving her wings a few powerful flaps she pushed herself a high into the air as she could go. Flying was hard in high altitude but getting up there was no problem. When she was about 10 feet up she stopped climbing, thinking she was much higher then she actually was, and took a good look around. There were a lot of really old trees around but she was looking for an old dead tree. Her face fell when she realized that there were still a fair few of those around. Not ready to give up just yet she picked one and let herself drop back to the earth. The landing was a bit rough but she didn't fall.
"Alright Lucky! It's this way, c'mon!" She didn't wait for his response before bolting in the general direction of her chosen tree. Adventure. She was on her very first real adventure and she couldn't be happier.

His head lifted upward as he watched her climb higher. Still a bit amazed at how high she had gotten at least. But still happy that his own hooves were planted firmly on the ground.
As she landed and took off in her choosen direction he quickly followed after her. "Hey hey! Wait up!" It didn't take him long to catch up though. His excitement fuled the energy to his legs. Plus he spent a lot of time racing Memphis anyway. So he was used to running around quite a bit.
Of in the distance, he could see several trees. But one looked to be a bit less...lively? Or so it seemed. And he wondered if this was the 'old' tree she had been talking about. Well, of course it would be. Why would he have any doubt about that?

Carmine looked over her shoulder to grin at the colt but didn't slow in pace. No way was she waiting or slowing down even. She was glad that she hadn't as she heard him closing in on her not long after. If she had stopped he probably would have run her over. "You're fast Lucky!" She said wondering if maybe he had the blood of a wind in him somewhere.
She laughed a little imagining Lucky flying about after her but quickly refocused on the old dead tree. It was still pretty far away but they were making good time she was certain they'd reach it soon. "When we get there we gotta be quiet! There might be someone around that we don't around!"

He might not of had the blood of a wind in him, but he did have the blood of a flutter. And flutters could zip around pretty fast when they wanted to. Lucky found this out quickly once Memphis learned how to use his wings better. "Haha! I've had a lot of practice runnin' around with my brother. So runnin' ain't nothin'!"
The old tree seemed to grow larger and larger as they sped across the ground. Lucky's hooves seemed to only touch earth for merely seconds before they were coming up and going back down to propel him forward. Nodding his head in reply to her remark, his little mind wondered just who might be around there that they wouldn't want there to be. Of course, that could of been just about anyone really. They were on an adventure! And if someone was going to stand between them and that well...he'd have to just beat em up!

"Sounds like fun!" She said with a grin. She wished she had a brother to run around with. Or fly with! Flying with other's was nice but her dad didn't really want to play with her, at least not in ways that she found fun. She scowled remembering the unpleasant day that he decided to torment her by beating his wings hard enough above that she couldn't take off. "I don't really run much, been practicin' in the air."
Her eyes almost began to glow as they closed in on the tree. She could feel her pulse quicken and her ears began to flick back and forth like radars listening. Her hooves began to fall into a softer step and she slowed to a walk. She turned and looked back at Lucky and gave him a look as if to say 'be quiet'.
She had never done this before but it was like instinct. She had the blood of a thief in her and it showed now more then ever. She made her way slowly to the dead tree to get a better look at it trying to remember what she had been told. Where was the supposed treasure found again? she couldn't quite remember.
