I'm actually really disappointed with this idea. I know it'll be great for lots of people, but apartments would kill my computer, it can barely handle dorms as it is.
I'm also seriously annoyed because there's been a "entirely new pack, rejigged Sims1 pack" pattern ever since the EPs came out, but this will mean its two entirely new packs in a row - and I was really hoping they would finally do a version of Makin' Magic. Not keeping in with the "reality" of the game, I know, but it was easily my favourite EP from the Sims 1, and I was looking forward to seeing how it would work in the Sims 2. Plus, depending on when the Sims 3 comes out (which I won't be getting) this might be the last ever EP - which really leaves me disappointed. I didn't buy Freetime because my computer couldn't hack it (and I promised myself the only other I would buy was a Magic one) but that was the only reason. I'm not going to buy this one because I just don't see the point or any interest in it.

I would rather them be working hard on TS3 than coming out with another expansion pack (and Stuff pack) for TS2. And yes, I've always felt that sims needed apartments but now that TS3 is coming out in a little less than a year and I'm already moving on from TS2's graphics etc. I would rather them just include it in TS3. It sounds interesting though and the new screenshot looks alright, I just think that it's just a money making EP for them and not a reall add on for the fans. I was excited when i first heard that. All my life just about, I've lived in apartments, why can't my sims? This is awesome. After I buy everything I want for sims 2, I think Iw on't get anything on sims 3, it doesn't look much worth it... I'll see.

I can see a lot of people buying this pack just for the spiral stairs and ceilings in this picture. Even I'd quite like the spiral stairs.

Oo I'm super excited for Apartments. I tried to make one before using a cheat buut it didn't turn out so well.

And while I understand your desire for them to focus on the Sims 3, not everyone will be getting it...I (and I'm sure others) will end up staying with the Sims 2, and personally, I'd like to know they'd put as much effort into it as possible. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if they had completely different staff working on the two games.
And why I'm not getting Sims 3 - I've invested too much into my Sims on the Sims 2. Making the switch from 1 was easy...I didn't have generations of Sims, but on 2 I have 5 or 6 generation families. Sims I've nurtured their entire lives...I couldn't just let go of that and move onto another game because it was bigger and better.
Anyway - it would kill my computer

From what Ive read, AL is basically an Urbz add on to sims 2.
There was a thread on the official site made by someone who read a maxis article stating such facts as, there being break dancers, more clubs, and urban themed items.
I am loving what I hear me being a big Urbz fan. <3

Head on over to SnootySims and you can find links to all of the fansites that were invited to the fanday event. They have loads of pictures and some videos.
I'm surprised EA didn't try to keep the 'creature' a secret this time round.
