Adelais hmmed softly. "This mean one, then... are they a threat?" Then he lifted his eyes again, scrutinizing her. "Empath. Like my cousin." He closed his book again thoughtfully. "To feel others emotions... when you are not familiar with them. Yes. That could be akward." And probably very annoying if it had been him. He couldn't imagine why Axis or Atae would want to live around so many people with a condition like that, either. "Don't all the people get bothersome, then?"

"Not really. I don't really go out that much." Bouts of anger around her weren't really rare, what with 'Aunt' Kitsumi causing trouble at home and making 'Uncle' Edgeworth and Saix mad. "Your cousin?" She echoed. The only empaths she knew were in her family, though she supposed it wouldn't be surprising if his did too. After all, he was related to Nobodies as well.
"It is very awkward. But like mother says, living with people helps you to control the power. Hiding only makes it worse, doesn't it?"

Adelais thought it over. "I suppose it would be better to be around people. If you weren't and suddenly got bombarded that would probably have rather ill effects on one's mental state."
"My cousin is Atae. She's over here rather a lot. She and Zell are head over heels for one another. I come over most mornings for the combat training sessions with them." He shrugged. "For some reason she was never able to learn to control her power. It seems to come and go as is pleases, though it effects her almost exclusively when people she cares about that are nearby are suffering from strong emotions of some sort. She has gotten used to it, at least, and some of those with similar gifts in this household were kind enough to put shielding up around her room so she can relax in peace."
He was silent for a moment and then rather out of the blue turned to look at her fully. "Being an empath, would you be able to identify an emotion if you felt it in another?"

She nodded. That was close to what mother had said as well. Being an empath was to feel emotions after all. It was their power, their destiny.
"Ah. Maybe she could meet my mother?" She offered. Of course, this was the empath's cousin she was talking to. "That is indeed...strange." She and her mother could control their powers quite effectively, though when she was a kit, she was often confused from all the emotions coming from different people. She had to train herself to focus on each individual carefully, and it was surprising to note that she could track (mostly that of her family) where some were by emotions.
"I guess...I would?" The sudden question had surprised her and she blinked, startled, before answering. "It depends though. I'm still trying to figure out some emotions I sense that I can't feel."
