Pash shrugged " I'm not sure exactly just that they are aware of when these leaves fall and they provide support for those who care for the children that come from them. They even seem interested in their development by giving them things to do. My son Owen helps out in the greenhouse and garden there." Pash did wondered how the whole project worked but he'd never had occasion to speak to the manager Shouko.
" They unlock their mouths so they look broken, them they just swallow the food and lock their jaw again." Rekha wrinkled his nose " They eat stuff with fur on it still." Boy or not that didn't appeal to him

"Hmm." Robert wondered if perhaps he shouldn't have disposed of the letter that came with Duff's pot. "Do you have a way to contact them, by any chance? A phone number or something? I'm afraid I misplaced mine." If there were others like her, maybe Duff would want to meet them.
Wiggling her own jaw, Beth realized eating whole food the way snakes did probably wasn't an option for her. As far as eating things with fur... somehow it didn't bother the girl as much as it probably should have. Still, she'd rather have a cat or dog to play with at this point than a raw meal. "Dun wanna eat fur food," she agreed. "Fur for pets." She nodded once, as if her statement had been the clearest thing in the world.

The green haired man nodded " I don't have it on me at the moment, it's currently taped to the fridge in case of emergency." It was also likely half covered in either magnets, one of the kid's drawings or random messages about the ownership of the food inside the fridge. " If you give me you number I can call you later with the info." The former guardian angel was glad to be of help to someone.
" I have a fur pet, he's a white cat named Zephyr , he has yellow eyes and sharp claws." Not that Rekha had ever felt the sting of those claws becuase unlike the others in the house he seemed to have Zephyr's unconditional love.

"Sure thing," Robert said. He pulled a little green cell phone and a rumpled pad of post-its out of the back of Beth's stroller and rummaged in his pocket for a pen. "I really appreciate this," he said, scribbling down the number he retrieved from his phone. "Here you go," he said, holding the paper out to Pash. "Thanks."
A cat! Beth smiled more broadly than she had all day. "I wantoo see cat!" she said, clasping her hands together in her lap.
Maclah looked up from where she was resting her chin on the ball Rekha had loaned her. Beth was smiling. Smiling! That wouldn't do. "Da? I don't feel good," she lied.

Pash looked sympathetically at Robert as he took the number " I suppose this is where we part ways." He could only imagine that the man would want to take his daughter home and tend to her.
Rekha gave a soft sigh upon hearing his father's words " Not today but you can I promise."

"Yes, I suppose we do," Robert agreed. He cast a sidelong glance at Mac to see if he could catch her in the lie he was sure she was telling, but the little orange girl kept up her facade admirably. She was good. "Beth, time to go."
The purple child turned around quicker than she seemed capable of turning and cast a hateful glare at Mac. If she had known what a b***h was, she might have called her sister one. Instead she just balled up a fist and pounded it lightly against the side of her stroller. When she turned back to Rekha, she was all smiles again, or at least not frowns. "'Kay. I see cat soon." She nodded as Robert lifted her into the stroller and her sisters rose from where they sat, Mac handing Rekha back his ball.
"It was very nice to meet you," Robert said as he turned Beth's stroller and started walking toward the exit. "Thanks again!"
