River thought Diego was being incredibly sweet. Especially the way he offered her the acorn. "Thank you!" She smiled and happily took it. She couldnt understand why Reicher hated this wolf so much, he really wasn't that bad!

His whitish cheaks turned a pale shade of pink. Diego was rather imbarresed, he only felt this way about one other. But then he paused and cocked his head. "I dunno if this will work out in the long run...I haven't seen many squirrels with wolves as mates..." He paused and muttered not really afraid to speak his feelings. "Hmmm well we could be the first-" He spoke even lower he didn't care if she over heard her...this was more the less his thought process just randomly going on about nothing in his head. "Although Whisper....Well now that I think about it...I don't think she likes me that way-" Placeing both paws down he managed to grasp an acorn and stick it in his mouth, but not before handing River hers; although hers was a bit less graceful then his, considering he used he nose. "I hope you enjoy them- they really are quite yummy!" He nodded again being done talking about what was going on in his head.

River looked at Deigo wen on about mates. Her and him together? Wouldn't that be like certain death. Then again, she would have a mate, a cute one, a strange cool funky one. She liked the idea of being his mate and well.. it was all different. She didn't know who Whisper was but did it matter? no. He took the acron and munched on it. She could have a mate? A Diego mate? Brilliant!

Diego munched away on his accorns finally managing to get both his paws to act like squirrel paws. It was still messy being he didn't have thumbs, but if he applied the right amount of pressure around the nut while raising it to his mouth he could be semi successful. He wasn't much thinking about Reicher- but someplace in the back of his mind he knew he was there and that this would never work out because of that. Then out of the random blue Diego spoke, "Offer him a trade..." What he was really trying to say was that if River managed to get another female for her place- quite possibly he'd oust her from the pack and allow her to go on living as a free wolf. For the most part Reicher never gave anyone any REAL information about what he was doing, so in his mind it might not be a threat to let River go. At least that was how he saw it.
"Reicher is very much an eye for an eye- barter him another soul and he's likly to let you go." He shruged and as if he'd just said nothing just went on munching Acorns.

River looked at him and sighed. "Reicher isn't letting anyone go now. He made it very clear anyone who leaves now dies. I could try to run but what good would it do Deigo? He would come after me with his pack to kill me and then probably kill Ran. I dont want him to kill her. She is too sweet!" She lowered her head, not wanting to leave Diego, she was happy with him!

Diego piffed Reicher was a hard barganer. "Talk to Sashta- Reicher was going to kill me but she made the deal for my trade...Frankly She got Realin for me; you should be able to go free." He turned with a nut balanced on his nose. "Just whatever you do don't mention me- For your safty more then mine..." Diego when he wanted could be brutally serious and quite focused on a situation. It was often the way he was before Reicher broke him. Prehaps he would return that way- and maybe sire a pack of his own, with River as his Alphas. He'd like that- he'd like that alot, but it would also mean giving up the safty of being a squirrel- he knew that too. It was a delema in his own mind- but right now getting River- and this Ran pup safe was his only priority. He sighed long and hard. "I don't know what to say- but try Sashta- usally she can convice Reicher when it comes to things like these...."

River looked at him and smiled. She hadn''t seen him like this, nor has she ever known of anyone to want her this much. She was torn, she still had the chance to leave if she really wished but Ran. If Ran couldn''t leave then nor would she though the thought of starting her own pack with the crazed wolf didn''t sound too bad.. and Ran could be part of it. "I shall try!" She walked over to him and nuzzled him. this could be her death!

Diego smiled warmly, "Don't worry I got you covered-" He pointed to the trees..."I see dead people-(XD j/k) I see Squirrels. I'll have a few of my spys watch you from the trees; if it seams like your in trouble they'll let me know and I'll help you out- death or not." In truth Diego would have layed down his life for few wolves but some how this was different. Whisper will be shocked by this- but last I heard she was mates with Kuro....or that Fute guy- She has way to many suiters...Plus this wolf seamed to understand me, and was playful like a pup...I need that to balance my stronger side. "It's my promise that you two will make it out safly- even if I have to form an army with my friends....well get you out..." Well he didn't have many friends but Whisper- but prehaps she too could pull some strings with Sashta.

River smiled, though she doubted the squirrels she trusted Diego, maybe not a wise move but what else could she do. He wanted her as his mate and she was all too willing. If she could take ran and like adopt her it would be amazing though she doubted it highly. She licked at Diego's maw. She never thought she would ever find a mate but yet, this was perfect. They could make a crazy pack - reichers enemys. The insane ones!

Diego wasn't one to believe love at first sight, but some how some way this was the way his relationship was going, and he didn't mind it in the least bit. Walking closer to River he nuzzled her. "I shall miss you until the next time we meet, adue and good luck on your mission." He stayed even closer to her not ever wanting to let her go; she was the only thing that made him sane. If she went- he would just let himself go again. "I wish you didn't have to leave-" He whispered softly into her ear wuffling in her sent so as to try and keep her with him even when she was off with Reicher. He really would miss her, his heart was already sagging from the dread of her loss. "Please don't go..." He sniffled ready to break down into tears- but he held them in. He wanted to be strong for her. She needed him- he would protect her, no mater what happened....even if it ment his death.

River looked at him, he was so desperate. He was so much like a young pup sometimes, same as her. She however filled so sorry for him, in this rather brief meeting she had learnt alot about him and the care that had built up inside of her. She didn't want to leave him, she didn't want to go back. She would much rather stay here then return to the blood thirsty creature. Then she wanted to see Ran again. Her heart was tearing apart. "Diego.." She forced a smile onto her face and nuzzled him. "I don't want to go either..."

Wuffling once more in sadness he knew he was going to have to let her go eventually. Why did life have to be creul to him like this threwout his life. He couldn't love, he couldn't live, and even though he was physcally free he still felt little more then a slave to Reicher. Reicher owned his mate and his future. He was still a risk to his pack- he knew to much...and in some ways that made him wary of going near anything that was Reichers. What happened if they smelled him on River? She would be killed for sure- marked as some sort of spy. He didn't want her to go back, ever. But that was not his choice- until Reicher let her go willingly he would just have to wait beyond the pack borders praying that she remained safe.

River sat as close as she could to him, resting her head on him. She didn't want to leave him here. Reicher said they could be anywhere but still under him. Did she have to go back now? no. Not according to what he said. She nuzzled him, her maw pushing against his brightly coloured pelt. This was not a moment to be ruined but she ecpected Diego to somehow. It was Diego afterall!

Diego wasn't as childish as he seamed- expecially not around those he loved. As anyone could have told River- he was overly protective and would never let go of the ones that were dear to him. He was expesially romantic when it came to his feelings of love, and though he knew by making this commitment that he was going to have to act more sane. He somewhat accepted that mentally- what did he have to hide from River anyway? She was accepting and just perfect in everyway. And though Whisper was close to him; he now knew that his attachtment of love to her was only as a pup to a mother- and being as young as he was had confused the two for being real love. Being with River had made him grow up- something that seamed to effect them both on some levels; perpetual puppyhood.
His sad whuffles turned to light chittering, a symptom of him missing her already.

River would have purred if she had been a cat. Never had she felt so happy and accepted. "Diego, what would we do if I left Reicher and his pack?" She moved away from him and looked more adult like then she had ever done in her whole life. She was alot more mature around Diego though was sure that if she wanted to play he would, she would however have to be careful but it was something she could do with him. She accepted him fully, as a best friend and a love. He was adorablly cute as well!
