I actually got in to FMA via the manga first. ^^ I love reading manga because of all the different art forms, and the sound of 'Fullmetal Alchemist' intrigued me, because i've always wanted to study alchemy.
It was about... i think, two years ago, one a half...? something like that, when i managed to find scanlations of the manga... i got reading, and fell in love! ^^
It also helped that L'Arc~en~ciel sang the opening theme, "Ready Steady Go". XDDD That song is so addicting.

i actually had the whole series for a long time and never got around to watching it because i was so busy watching all the other stuff i had gotten and not watched yet... so it sort of sat on my DVD spindle for a while... then one night i came home from work after having to stay late and i was pissed off because i had missed ATHF, so i was gonna stay up to watch it the second time it loops around and i happened to catch episode one of FMA in th emeantime. i was like, "oh, okay, i heard they were putting this on TV," so i gave it a shot.
after ten minutes i was diving for that DVD pile. i watched the whole series over the following two days, subsequently got all the manga that had been released thus far, all the CD's, both TV aniation artbooks and am in the process of getting the rest of the artbooks...etcetera etcetera etcetera...
been a long time since i found a series i was this passionate about... thanks, arakawa-sensei! xd heart

I was sent the whole series (fansubbed, of course) by a good friend of mine. She and I watched it all the way through not that long ago, and we both became hooked. (I am not as big of an addict, and have resistance to the "fanboy" syndrome.) Now it's all I can do to just slow getting all the soundtracks, the art books, plushies, cosplay paraphenalia. (Yeah, I am working on cosplay outfits. Can anyone say Armstrong? xd )
Riza-san, that is similar to how I had gotten into a couple of different anime, but Full Metal Alchemist seems to have stuck with me a great deal more than most have. Evangelion came and went, as did several other "awesome" anime. It's somehow grabbed a bit more of my soul than so many others I have seen. Normally you do not get such a wonderful blend of action, tragedy, comedy, and cuteness all in one. The creators of FMA really made a hit.

i forgot part of my story.... heh heh sweatdrop
it really started when i got a flyer/mini poster advertsing FMA on one side, and L'Arc~En~Ciel(i luff you guys) on the other from a convention i recently went to....
anywho, i guess the piccy sparked my curiousity and i started watching it on adult swim.... 3nodding the affect FMA had/has on me is greater than that of naruto, which for a while there, i thought could not be beaten.....
yup, soon aftr that..... i attacked some online manga place and went spoiler-hunting(cuz thats just who i am)
i plan on getting the dvds soon, and will be all giddy once the manga and dvds are released in stores(around where i live)
FIN xd

Nanuko Gaara_X I found out about Full-Metal Alchemist last year from my 7th grade science teacher who i also learned about naruto from! He was my favorite teacher id ever had. After he got me obsessed with naruto he gave me the first 4 volumes of FMA on a disk and told me to try reading it. I read it and was it was awesome so i also got a few eps from my friend( crying cant download anime cuz i have dial up crying ) then one day i was on adultswim.com and there was a link to an interview with funimation about fma so i read it and they didnt say ne thing about showin the anime and then i went to check under adultswims SHOWS and there it was on the list so i got all excited and impatient and went crazy becuz this was more than a week before it came on.I kept on chekin the my tv guide for saturday the next week to make sure it was still gonna come on and i finally saw it. The anime was just as great as the manga and they even did an ok job dubbing so ive been watchin it since then on adultswim I was gonna get all the anime from my teacher but he decided he didnt want to get in trouble with my parent for givin me a violent anime so i got the whole shaman king series from him instead ill hav to force my friend to get FMA for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What kind of teacher is that!? Better yet...What school and what grade?! Your teacher totally rocks! xd Lol.....My teacheris into anime and manga ..................It was seventh grade........ xd Even this year at luchtime we sometimes watch Naruto and stuff in there because Our lunchtime is his prep period............I can tell though we do annoy him a lot sometimes! 3nodding Eighth grade is so boring now..............

I first heard about FMA from people online and they all said it was really cool. I thought I'd try to download it some where, but I forgot about that since that was like in August. When I heard it was going to air on adult swim I decided I would definetly watch it. The first episode I saw was the 2nd and I thought it was really cool. The episode that got me really interested in the series was the 3rd one. Two or three weeks later I searched for some FMA websites, looking for manga scanlations, episode summaries, and other stuff.

Heard about about a year ago thought it sounded dumb... ::cough cough::
Became intruiged by it when I heard was going to start airing on Adult Swim, watched it... Liked it. Fell in love with the series by episode 3.
Starting the manga, bought the anime.
Now it is my favorite Anime followed by Naruto and then DNAngel.

Hmm....I would have to say that I hooked on FMA thanks to my friend O'chibi-chan. For about a month and a half before it came out on Adult Swim she talked about it non-stop. It was starting to get slightly annoying, but I figured I'd give it a try. So, low and behold, after the first episode, I was hooked. I've read all the manga available online and am dying to read and see more. But now after reading all these posts I'm dying to see Naruto....

Hmm...
Well, just about the ONLY magasine I actually read front to back is Wizard's Anime Insider, and they had a pretty big article about the most anticipated show of the moment to be licenced for USA, and that was Full Metal Alchemist.
I'd seen some Full Metal Panic so I figured, hmm... I wonder if they have any affiliation.
of course they dont *hehe*
But uh, anyhow... I wanted to look into it but kind of got side tracked, until one night, by PURE chance, I happened to turn on Adult swim and the first episode was premiering! Then I thought "OH WOW! FULL METAL ALCHEMIST! EVERYONE SAYS THIS IS SO AMAZINGLY GOOD!"
after that I became a downloading whore ^^;
I found this site called "Animenuke.com" where if you join the forum you get access to one download a day, and they had all 51 episodes available... it's only for Real Player, which made it easier to host because the files are smaller.
They've got evangelion and naruto too and some other stuff... bleach and My Hime I think...
Anyhow... I'm on episode 35 now!
