“The first thing you want to do is find a bug you want to target and don’t let any bugs round you distract you from it,” he told her lightly, “if you keep changing your target because you think one might be closer of looks easier to catch, you probably won’t end up getting anything. So pick your prey carefully!”
He was excited- something about playing hunting games with cubs always made him feel young again too. Less like a teacher and more like they were learning together.
“After you pick the bug you want to attack, the next thing is to get close without making any noise. Pouncing is a very quiet art.”

Ekun nodded and looked about...her eyes catching sight of a dull brown bug. She pointed to it, smile on her face...then she started stalking towards it. She was very careful to make sure she didn't trip over anything...
And when her paws dragged something forward or she broke something, she froze. No sense in continuing before making sure the bug hadn't seen/heard her.

Jethro watched her, smiling. The bug seemed quite content in ignoring the world around it, still and apparently undaunted by the noise that had come from behind it. Jethro knew bugs weren’t quite as smart as some or the normal pray they hunted. This being the case, it was fine to use them to help gain stealth and precision down.
They were perfect little tools.
He moved behind Ekun silently, nudging her forward with his nose.

When Jethro nudged her forward, she kept on, stalking the bug as best she could. This...was new to her. But she needed to learn. If she didn't learn...well, she couldn't help Mama Phye'li! Once she was very close, within a cub-length of the bug, she looked to Jethro.
What now?

Jethro smiled. He could see she had absolutely no idea what she was supposed to be doing, which was almost amusing. It was very adorable. Had he been so cute when he was learning to hunt? No, of course not. She was a female.
They were inherently cuter than males.
Raising a hand, he let out his claws, making a slight, slow motion for her to jump on top of the bug and catch the creature. It was too risky to talk when they were so close.

Ekun made a silent 'Oooooo', then turned her attention back to the bug. It'd be like...like pouncing on her brother! 'Cept the bug was LOOOOTS smaller than 'Rai. She crouched, tail swishing behind her...and then bounced, more than pounced. But she landed on the bug. And it went kinda 'squish'. But she looked immensely proud of herself.
"I got it! I got it, Jethro!"

Jethro let out a laugh. Maybe she needed a lesson in knowing how much power to use and when, but other than that he could see that she had done very well for herself. The evidence was squished all over her small paws.
"You did!" He cheered, "you certainly did! I'm very proud! You hunt like a pro already." He moved over to her, looking at the smushed remained of the small bug.
"But now it seems you should go get cleaned up," he added with a grin.
