Oh and cause I'm a stalker like that, I applaud you on your choice of WL Biology. I didn't get much farther though, because of the wall of text & ADD.

FallenEverdark LULZ indeed. Also it should be noted to them that you are pro choice because you CHOOSE not to eat meat (as do I). wink True! It's like "pro-life personal, pro-choice political", but with meat. "Anti-meat, pro-legal-meat", I guess. You won't see us in the McDonald's, but we're not gonna be picketing outside it, either. (Or pipe-bombing it. Or shooting their clown mascot.) Oni As far as I'm concerned, eating meat or not eating meat won't help stop cruelty to animals. One hamburger not being eaten is just one hamburger that will be thrown into the dumpster because it's rotten. It's our fight to make the humane treatment of animals a priority in the legislation of this country that will do far more in helping to advance the humane treatment of animals. I get annoyed when people try to group me in with the tree-hugging hippies. I'm not. And I'm not really even doing most of the "alternative" stuff for Big Reasons. I'm simply living my life according to how I feel it best should be lived, and if I can help others live their lives according to how they feel, that's just an added bonus. I guess that makes a lot of sense, actually. I've considered not being a vegetarian anymore, but I don't know how I would quit. Also: I LOVE being grouped with the tree-hugging hippie crowd! It's a complement to me.

I guess that makes a lot of sense, actually. I've considered not being a vegetarian anymore, but I don't know how I would quit. Also: I LOVE being grouped with the tree-hugging hippie crowd! It's a complement to me. Even though human beings are omnivores, they should probably not be eating all that much meat. I suggest starting out eating a bit of seafood or chicken breast to reintroduce meat into your diet. But seriously, most people don't need all that much meat in their diets to satisfy nutrition guidelines. What we must achieve is balance in all things and moderation as best we can. And just like all things, meat should be consumed sparingly in order to bring on the best results. Of course, it's not about the meat itself that most people are up in arms about, but the treatment. I would also rather have the cosmetics industry completely close up shop than have them injecting nail polish into animal's eyeballs and s**t. Believe me, painting your nails and your face are FAR less important than torturing lab animals. I understand the need to use test animals for scientific progress, but once again, cutting up frogs in science class should be exchanged for those realistic computer programs where you dissect animals. Because the idea of killing something for no other reason than to get a grade is awful. A note on the hippy thing: Trust me, you'd not want to be grouped in with the tree-hugging hippies if you lived in a place like Santa Cruz. There are some pretty "woo woo" people here, if you catch my meaning. But then again, I'm not the "group joining" type. I like anime, but I'm not really a "fan" per-se, because I don't act like the majority of fans out there. I like some episodes of Star Trek, but I'm not going to dress up like Spock and s**t. I like to bike everywhere if I can and using reusable grocery bags, but that's because it's more convenient here, and I save room in my house by not having all those extra bags. I like video games, but I'm not going to stay up for three days straight just to beat one. ETC. I guess that's one reason why I'm not religious too. I just can't stand being part of some group where I may be into some of the things that the group wants to do (ie: certain ethical and moral issues like being decent to other human beings, etc) but the majority of it as well as the sheep-like tendencies of a group repulse me so much that I shy away from it altogether.

I see both at fault but I really don't see the mother needing to be arrested unless it was child endangerment for having that boyfriend around. More importantly, the article does not say that the boyfriend is the father. I see this happen often where a mother has a boyfriend that isn't the father around and the father is abusive (where I cashier at, there are plenty of boyfriends who beat up the children of their girlfriend and yes we do call the police and child services when it happens). I'm sure the mother knew that the two year had been abused before and it was the mother's fault for not ditching the guy in the first place but still it is the boyfriend's primary fault, he shouldn't have been abusing, punishing or touching a child especially that isn't his (I'm not saying he has a right to if he is the bio-father).
I would call the woman in for child endangerment but the boyfriend in for battery, assault, child abuse, and first degree murder. I think the mother at least needs to take courses on parenting, self-confidence (I'm only assuming this because the boyfriend had said he beat the kid before and she didn't intervene), and getting into better relationships course.

PhaedraMcSpiffy I can't remember what specific thing it was that I said, I just know I got real pissed off and started ranting. It was a thread about vegetarianism and the abortion debate. Basically, one poster was asking how it's possible to be a vegetarian and pro-choice (when the real question is "How the ******** do you care about a z/e/f being killed but not a cow?!") and some pro-choicers were replying and the lifers were mostly like "LOLZ VEGETARIUNS". Well, this one girl started going on and on about how humanely animals are killed and how good they have it on farms and how factory farms are actually not bad at all such and I, being in the "********' psycho" stage of my vegetarianism, got pissed, Apparantly this girl thought that "The Silent Scream" was perfectly credible and that PETA propaganda was not*. I wonder why?** *Neither one of them are, actually, but PETA is actually more accurate. **1. Hypocisy. 2. Cognitive Dissonance Well, I had stopped by to look at the usual B.S. (I think someone had posted a link to a thread that was funny/crazy/sad.) and I saw that there was a thread asking how people could be Pro-Choice and Vegetarian, so I stopped by to defend my views. Which turned into me losing my temper. *looks at your sig* You know what the only sad thing about it was? They started talking about the Futurama episode "The Problem With Popplers" and I had some things to say about that, but by that point I was banned, so I couldn't! Abortion stops a beating heat! ...Imma go eat my steak now. domokun

It's a complement to me. Amusingly enough I love meat, but I won't eat meat because of exactly that reason, those cows/chickens/etc don't get to live a good life first. I'm all for the "natural order" but the natural order sure doesn't include living in slaughter houses/tiny cages their entire life. Nothing natural about that. And while I would like to eat only free range, its too expensive right now, and I can't afford to get that all that often, so I just swore off meat completely until either the industry changes (ha) or I don't feel like it anymore. Which is kind of likely, I have a hard time sticking to things. I might bend a little & start letting myself eat fish once I live on the coast & know its not coming from fish farms & is instead caught out to sea & had a CHANCE to live a good life. smile I just love Sushi in Seattle SOOOO MUCH. Omg so good. Not so much when you're landlocked. :/ (ohio ftl, washington ftw!) ETA: Also like your "Anti-meat, pro-legal-meat," I am "anti-drugs, pro-legal marijuana." Lets get some taxes on that s**t! XD

ok, neutral will you all just STOP talking about animal rights/vegetarianism/veganism and so on? Because you're just going to bait me and I'm going to expose so many misconceptions that people have and this is going to make people uncomfortable and start getting pissed off with me again. And then I'm going to get into more trouble because being the vegan in a crowd of omnivores already paints a whopping target on my back!
Here's an easier reason: It's off topic. >.<
You all want to talk about this stuff? Fine, but can someone please make a new topic in the fetal containment subforum. kthx.
