Pepper could hold no longer and followed her up. He sucked in a bunch of air and then chuckled, "I guess that was too deep." He looked around and saw the shore, "Should we start at the shore?"

Patty chuckled as well. "Yes! That would be a good idea. We can't find treasure if we can't reach the bottom!"
She winked at him this time, and then began to swim closer to the shore, wondering how close they would have to get before they could reach the bottom. She couldn't see the bottom, so she had no idea how close or how far it was.

Pepper chuckled as he paddled to the shore. "How about here?" He dunked under and found that the bottom wasn't too far the reach. He wasn't sure if they would find anything though. "It's not too deep here." He said after he poked back up.

Patty watched him go under, wondering if he would reach the bottom or not. When he came back up not too long after, she had her answer.
"Hmm," she said, "well, how about a little further out then."
She swam out a little ways and went under. The bottom was not close, but she did manage to reach it. But it was useless, she couldn't see a thing. She felt around on the bottom and her paw touched something rough and round. She picked it up and surfaced. What she had in her paw was only a rock.
"Well, It seems to be a good distance here, but I can't see anything." She laughed and help up the rock before tossing it back down into the lake.

Pepper followed and then watched her go under and come back up with a rock. "Yeah, true." Pepper dunked under, reached the bottom. He felt around and then swam up. He smiled as he found a weed. "I guess, I didn't do much better."

She laughed at his weed. "No, I guess not.."
She thought of something that could make this better, but she wasn't having any luck. "If only it wasn't so murky down there..." she muttered to herself.
Just then, Patty felt a sharp pain in her hind leg, and she couldn't move it. It was some kind of muscle spasm. She cried out in pain and her face crinkled in agony. For a second she forgot to swim, and she began to sink. Then she frantically began moving her paws, trying to stay afloat, but this only caused her more pain. She couldn't move her leg, and she wasn't a good swimmer with only three legs. Not to mention the panic that hit her was hindering her abilities even more. She began to go under. She gasped for air one more time as her head went under.

"Yeah, if we could see then maybe we'd find something good." Pepper laughed and shook his head. He looked away and then heard Patty start splashing, "Patty?" He asked when he turned around to see her flailing and sinking, "Oh no!"
Pepper swam under and pulled her out of the water with as much strength as he could muster. He then swam to shore and pulled her onto the sand. "Patty, are you ok?" Pepper said with his face close to hers.

Patty didn't know what was going on. Her panic had gotten the best of her, and she sank into unconsciousness.
In her dream she was standing at the top of high ledge. Everything was fine, until she decided to look over the edge. Suddenly her back paw gave out and caused her to tumble over the edge. She was falling faster and faster, and she couldn't breath. Sinking into darkness. Then suddenly, someone was there with her. A prince. He grabbed her up and carried her to safety. He leaned close to her and asked her is she was ok. He even called her by name.
Slowly she came to, and she looked up into the face of her rescuer. She blinked a few times and then finally remembered what had happened. She hadn't fallen off a cliff. She had almost drowned. And the prince that saved her...that must have been...
"Pepper!" she finally said. "You saved me!" She tried to leap up, to hug him, but she could not move. She stared into his tranquil eyes and smiled. She reached a paw up and lightly touched his face. "Thank you," she finally managed to say.

Pepper breathed a sigh of relief as Patty woke up and was fine. "Thank goodness you're ok!" Pepper said and then smiled, "You are so welcome, I couldn't let you drown!" He felt her paw on his face and blushed. "I'm so happy you are alright."

She smiled up at him, her paw still on his cheek.
"Yes, I'm fine. Thanks to you. You're my prince." She chuckled a little.
"Well, in my dream you were anyway." She blushed after admitting this.

"Well, then, that makes you my princess." Pepper smiled and blushed just a bit, she had a dream about him? "What does the princess need?" He was still a bit worried about her, she did almost drown and all.

Patty blushed as well. Of course, every girl liked being called a princess, didn't they? She smiled up at him, fairytale stories coming into her mind.
"How about a kiss from my rescuer?" She blushed again. She wasn't sure if he would take her seriously or not.

A kiss? Pepper hadn't done that with anyone before. He blushed a deep red and then thought who better than his princess? "Sure." He leaned foreword to give the princess a kiss.

Patty closed her eyes as Pepper's lips touched hers. It couldn't have been more perfect she thought. It made her heart seem to skip a beat, and she even forgot that her leg had been cramped in the first place, or that she had almost drowned.
After the kiss, she made sure to remember to breathe. Once she breathed in a few times she opened her eyes and looked at his face again.
"Wow," she gasped, "I think...I think I'm feeling much, much better now!" It was true, she could barely feel the pain in her leg now.

Pepper blushed even more as the kiss happened. It felt really nice, nothing he had ever felt before. He sat up and smiled, "Well, I'm glad that you feel better. It was really nice." He ducked his head at the last sentence, feeling a bit embarressed.
