"I'm sure you will," she declared loudly to ensure him of the sincerity behind her statement. Rana wasn't a stupid girl. Her suggestion had been worded specifically so that he wouldn't push her away. Instead, she hoped that he'd welcome her into his life with open arms and that beautifully silly grin. She'd treat him just like he was her own cub, and raise him with some of the highest expectations.
If she was going to be completely honest with herself, the lioness had to admit that she had some doubts when it came to her parenting abilities. Before she'd met Kyp, all those months ago, Rana had always thought she'd been destined for motherhood. Now, she wasn't so sure. What if she wasn't good enough?
The rational part of her argued that it was for the best. Nazih was safer with her than he would have been on his own, regardless of how well she could manage this mothering thing.
Besides, there was always Rashi to help her. She'd been traveling with the male for a couple of weeks and had come to consider him a very dear friend. While he was not the most pleasant of characters, Rana had come to admire all of his finer traits. She wondered what he'd think.
"I bet you're an excellent hunter, too."
She smiled kindly at Nazihi, trying to keep his little mind off the family he'd lost.

Nazih smiled once more. However in the back of his mind he felt slightly worried. What if his parents were alive? Would he be betraying them? He shoved it into the back of his mind. She was here, and now. She was nice enough to ask him to join her and he felt happy.
At her words he heard his small stomach growl slightly. "Kinda. I can get bugs... and mice someee times." He looked up at her with a hopeful look. "Can I call you mommy?" He pawed at her slightly then looked up once more.

"Bugs are tasty, but I'll make sure you can hunt big game someday," Rana chuckled in delight, glad of this newfound opportunity to raise a little one and share some of what she had learned from her own parents with him. It occurred to her, then, that her obsession with becoming a mother probably had something to do with the way that she'd been raised. Both of Rana's parents had been incredibly loving, if a little bit eccentric, and she was eager to remember them in this simple way.
His question caught her off guard. Of all the things she'd thought he'd want, something as simple as that wasn't one of them. He wasn't her son and, for some reason, it alarmed her that this one word was what he wanted to call her. She wasn't upset because she didn't want him to. No, on the contrary, the special nickname was something that she'd always dreamed would someday be applied in respect to her. The word it's self was just... unexpected.
"You can call me whatever you like," she nodded kindly at him.
