Anketh Quillathe, filled with the watchful presence of her Enduring Ancestor, feels more secure about the situation. She considers drawing her defending daggers, but figures it wouldn't be polite to walk into a lord's manor with weapons drawn, even if her bare fists are far more deadly. I've no want or reason to remain; lets move on.Quillathe waits for either the man or the elf to lead the way, and steps in directly after them. imediately as you pass you feel the air charged with a chaotic energy that is imediately absorbed into your body ( no savings throw, but you have like... 4 or 5 minutes to get out before any permanent damage is done). the man in armor seems utterly uneffected by the chaotic energy, being that the elf in front of him is offering him some weird protection

((ugh, so many fun abilities I could be using here, exept then they wouldn't be available for later in the day when I am actually going to need them.))
Quillathe clenches her teeth together against the unusual sensation that is invading her body. She almost calls a spiritual consul of her ancestors to help her determine what this strange energy is, but just barely thinks better of it because she'll need their guidance later, when she meets this strange patron.
Quillathe urges herself down the corridor quickly, she can feel each minor change in herself as the invading chaotic presense takes its toll; she is fairly certain that she will come out with only minor changes if she escapes quickly.
She turns an eye towards the towering man and elf; somehow the elf afforded him a measure of protection he did not share with Quillathe. Quillathe continues her travels down the corridor, staying close to the man in case this is some kind of set-up.

Anketh ((ugh, so many fun abilities I could be using here, exept then they wouldn't be available for later in the day when I am actually going to need them.)) She turns an eye towards the towering man and elf; somehow the elf afforded him a measure of protection he did not share with Quillathe. Quillathe continues her travels down the corridor, staying close to the man in case this is some kind of set-up. the blank faced man the big guy was talking to when you first enters greets you, " follow me this way, ill lead you out of the aura and into a safe chamber. there you will meet my master" he moves down to the castle and escorts you inside. as soon as you enter the castle the thick air clears and the particles stop moving towards you, choosing instead to float about inert. the blank faced man moves you into the main chamber, where imediately you see that on either side of you is something like 50 robed men and women with blank faces. to your center is a man who's dementions are not as big as the man in black, but he is clearly more muscular, and unlike the robed ones and the apparent butler, this one has a vast amount of intelegence in his face. behind him, you see something large, something VERY large, about the same size as a great wyrm dragon, though without wings and apparently laying down, judging by its posture. the man in the chair stands, "welcome to my master's castle, i am Hourne, and i am the host of this little party."

Quillathe gives a passing glance at the dragon-like thing behind Hourne's chair; she is careful not to let her gaze linger, lest her face betray her thoughts.
To hold a creature of such power in servitude, either by money, or force, or spell, or whatever, is probably very difficult indeed.
Quillathe bows to Hourne, a practice of flattery that she picked up after watching a group of dwarves beseech a governor for special trading rights; she finds that stuffy noble-types seem to find it enjoyable to have "lesser" beings give them homage.
It is good to meet you, Hourne, but if this is your master's castle, then does not ultimately he desire of my services? I prefer to negotiate with my employers directly... but if your offer is large enough, I suppose I can be made can overlook that tradition. What is your proposition?
Quillathe suppresses the urge to steal another glance at the dragon-thing behind Hourne as she waits for a reply.

What is your proposition?Quillathe suppresses the urge to steal another glance at the dragon-thing behind Hourne as she waits for a reply. the giant creature behind hourne lifts its head up, stares strait at all three of you, its eyes glow blue for a second, making the elf fall limply to the ground, then it lowers its head back down. hourne nodds, "forgive my master, he cannot speak with you as of right now, but he is none the less honored to have you here in his vast halls. as for the matter of payment, it can be anything you desire. nothing is outside my master's grasp for associates willing to work for him." the big man pickes the unconsious elf off of the ground, " i need unlimited copies of this," he jiggles the one on his wrist, "and i need them all to be linked to this one." he drops the elf. Hourne looks angrilly at the big man, obviously angered by the obvious outburst from the big man, who though hidden by a helm, seems almost happy to have ruined the formal atmosphere. Hourne regathers himself, " yes you barbaric waste of tissue, that is well within my master's power."

Acophisinarian is taken aback, and despite herself, her suprise manifests itself on her face. She'd heard the people in the commons room saying that their employer was offering "anything," but she didn't really expect the bargain to be offered by the employer himself; its seemed foolish to ask the client to name any
That is a pretty generous offer good Hourne. I certainly hope that you do not mean to tell me that your offer of anything is to be limited to material goods.
Acophisinarian considers.
There is something your master can do for me that, if within his power, will win him my assistance. Perhaps by now you have noticed that I am of mixed blood...
To say such a thing is an understatement of the obviousness of the situation; it's rather hard to miss Acophisinarian's large, scaled frame and large, leathery wings.
and it tends to draw the wrong kind of attention to me. I've spent a good deal of my life attempting to achieve my true potential but...well, perhaps a demonstration would help you understand, with your permission of course?
((assuming Hourne gives the affirmative, Acophisinarian will transform into a Huge Shadow Dragon (draconomicon)))
My dedication has thus far yielded to me that ability to cast off my half-ogre shackles for only about an hour a day; can your master somehow strengthen this link that I may switch forms at will?

I thought as much, and as such, figured that the price for my services in this matter ought to match what will likely be expected of me. Very well, I agree to your terms. Normally, I would require at least a potion of my payment upfront, but I understand this to be quite impossible; besides, the fact that your master would be contented with mearly one of a set of five reassures me that he is unlikely to relinquish the bargain.
The Very Old Shadow Dragon Acophisinarian walks up to Hourne to accept her scroll from him. She looks it over and familiarises herself with the various kindoms with which she is now at war. She notes the distances between the kingdoms, and casually adds:
The assassination of a King is a well-popularized event. Surely when Kings begin to fall, the others will sense what is coming. If I am to have a hope of catching these men by surprise, before they have absconded with their tablets, I will need instant transportation between targets; this will also help to keep reduce the chance that anyone should, be tragic accident, manage to track the murders back to myself. Can you arrange for such travel?

Horne stands motionless for a second, a blank look going over his face. then, as if comming out of a coma he snaps back and nodds,"it is indeed impossible to pay you beforehand... but rest assured that the prize is well worth it for even just one of the peises. as for stealth, most of the kings remain ignorant of our plans, but one or two have already had our mercenary assassins have tried and failed to capture the pentagrams, and hundreds of our mercenary assassins have fallen to the mecry of our most hated rival, Cedric Strom. do not worry about transportation, when you need to get to one of the locations, simply press the symbol with that nation and it will get you as close as it can." he pauses and adds,"watch out for Cedric Strom, some of our most powerfull assassins and even some of the faceless," he motions to the blank faced gaurds," have been nothing but children to him. he is merciless and he wants the same thing we do. further, you'll need to make sure that if you are not stealthy, then you need to kill the preists, because you will not be able to escape if they activate their protection stone."

Thank you then, it good to know this information rather than have to face an unexpected obsticle along the way. Cedrick Strom...I will keep an eye open for him.
I will leave at once, but I must ask one last favor your grace before I depart. In which of these kingdoms is it currently night? I did not choose to adopt the form of a shadow dragon for nothing; without the sun to give me away, stealth shall be no obsticle.

Acophisinarian is begining to become puzzled by the sudden starts and stops made by "Hourne;" it's almost as though his thoughts come from somewhere else entirely. Sense Motive=44It is a puzzle to be worked out later. For now, the clock is ticking, and Acophisinarian has a job to do. She turns her serpentine neck to look back at the elf-wielding barbarian she came in with. You do not strike me as a particularily stealth man, although I am quite sure that you are capable of getting these pentagrams in your own way; you may prove indespensible in the recovery of these items. Shall we, say, meet at the third kingdom down the list in three days time to compare successes?((If the man gives the affirmative, Acophisinarian will activate the rune on the map and head for the first kingdom, arriving in total concealment, as per the shadow dragon's ability, with a hide check of 49))

((in case it becomes important, Acophisinarian is hiding with a Hide Check=35 against the night sky. Because of her shadow dragon form, she has total concealment (in other words, she's invisible, which means her true hide check is actually 55). Her Shadow Dragon's form has a fly speed of 200', and so her overland flight speed is 30 miles and hour. Therefore, ten miles is 20 minutes, so she can arrive at the city and have a little less than 40 minutes of shapechanging remaining)) Acophisinarian flexes her wings and beats them down hard against nearly lightless sky and lauches her massive form up against the gigantic black blot in the sky. These conditions are ideal, and almost without thinking, he hide blends perfectly in with the hue of the blackness. She makes hard for the city, and the miles seem to melt away under such fast movement.
