"Oh, now, girls! It's not very ladylike to bicker! Tut-tut!" It could hardly be called a scolding, the way Twist had grinned happily back and forth between his girls. Arguing meant they were quick witted and sharp, didn't it? The minder sure liked to think so!

Song gave her eyes a good roll, though inwardly she seethed at Twist's fawning attention on the younger fledgling. Not to be had, the Ghost nestled herself close to the minder and glared unblinkingly back at her clutch-mate. Two could play this game!

"I'll have to find you both a teacher, my-my! This'll be a task, if any." Twist swiveled his head upwards in thought, "Perhaps I should get you two the same teacher, how's that sound?"

"Like'a load o' Mus droppins!"

"Song!" The minder's attentions sprang suddenly on the Ghost. She shied away, though deeper against his belly; her tufts her lowered, abashed.

"M'jus' sayin'...mebbe- uhm, mebbe Miss Peridot kin teach me, ya?" She tested the waters carefully, trying to con the Wildtype with her prettiest smile. He relented somewhat.

"Tell you what, I'll speak with her. But first, we'll have to find a teacher for the both of you - just in case!" he added.

While Twistumbler turned his attention to Songbloom due to her language, Osprey took the opportunity to make a face at her clitch-mate. A smug look crossed her and she nestled comfortably against her minder.

"I'd like t'ave the same teacher, m'thinks, as Song." She informed the minder, although she really did not mean it. It was clear that Songbloom did not want her around, but like any sibling, Osprey wanted the opportunity to have the same care as the older fledgling. She wanted to do everything that Songbloom got to do, and also wanted to cause her grief as she did it.

Osprey did not really want Peridot as an instructor, partly because that would mean having to act lady-like, which she was not much of one to do.

Song gaped her beak back at Osprey and was about to hiss when Twist chose to speak once more.

"Oh, that'd be splendid! You two off to class together, the most pretty pair in all of Noctua!" The Wildtype was positively beside himself with glee, wings scooping round his two charges. The thought of Lady Peridot teaching his two gals the ways of etiquette (and the extra plus of her being a bard, how exciting!) was like a dream come true.

The Ghost snapped her beak shut; the feathers on her brow dimpled, "Bu'...bu'...." She trailed off and glared sullenly at her Minder's talons. Well, bugger all this for a lark! She'd get Ossie back if it was the last thing she did!

"Coul' nev'r learn mann'rs," she grumped at the Mist. "Got 'bout much grace as'a rock."

Twist spoke to the air, "Well, then, suppose I'll set up a meeting with the Madame, get this all sorted out...."

Ossie glared hard at Songbloom, but then her beak edges curved into a grin. "Y'know wha'? I know a teacher who cu'd teach me ereything! I wanna take lessin's from Miss Breeze. She'd teach me all sorts a thin's!"

She snuggled up against Twistumbler and if sentinels could, she would of stuck her tongue out in defiance. "She'd teach me t'unt an' fly much better 'n you!"

Twist's face fell, dreams of raising two ladies going down with it, "Breeze? Oh, darling, wouldn't she be...well, a little too hard on you?"

Song, on the other hand, scoffed. There wasn't much to be said on the subject, however, considering the only thing she really knew of the Teacher was the fact that she was a Ghost like herself - oh well, so was Miss Peridot! The fledgling shifted her wings back and forth matter-of-fact-ly and gave a petulant, holier-than-thou sniff.

"Youuuu wish!" she finally said. It was just about the best she could come up with at the moment. "Bet'chu she cain't teach you smarts! I feel ba' fo' Miss Breeze, havin' to have ya as a studen'."

The Minder gave her a firm n**. Song shuffled away with a cheep.

Ossie's eartufts flattened and she suddenly felt guilty. Twistumbler did not seem to keen on her choice. "N'uh! I tawked t'er afore. She told me 'ow t'fly better. I really like her." The mist fledgling stated her case and peered up at her minder with worry, then she shot yet another glare at Songbloom.

"She'n I got more smarts'n you e're gonna 'ave!"

Ossie's reassurance still did not wipe the worry from Twist's brow. Well, if she was already acquainted with the Teacher then he supposed that was a plus. Fledglings were obstinate little things - he had a feeling that if he told his little darling no, she'd still do it. Not that he would say no, of course...watching the Mist's face fall so was not something he could cope with. He gave a quiet coo, nestling Ossie against his side. Wasn't much he could do now, was there?

"Oh, well, then I suppose," he finally relinquished. "You sure you don't want to learn sing and perform and all of that?" He could try, at least.

Song fluffed up in defense, "Yeh, well! Weeeell!" She paused and wracked her brains for something sassy!

"M'gonna tell Miss Peridot t'make a song 'bout...'bout dumb lil Mists name' Ossie and, and...and then she'll sing it fer eve'yone t'hear! N' even Noctus'll laugh!"

As silly as the insult was, Songbloom's words were like talon scrapes to the little mist. "Yeah? Yeah? Well y'know what? Imma learn good and Imma be the bestest flier in alla Noctua! I'll be the bestest scout inna whole woods an' Miss Peridot an alla th' bards'll sing 'bout how great I am!"

She was still pressed close against Twistumbler's side, but lowered herself and spread her wings in an aggressive stance.

"Y'see! Y'see, then y'regret pickin' on me!"

Song responded in kind, bristling into a little puff of pale gray feathers. Her wings twitched at her sides and she raised them for but a moment before tucking them away again.

"Yeh, or th'm bards'll sing 'bout what'n awful Scout y'be!" she retorted, voice raising. "N' y'be a tale fer all th'rest of th'new fledglings! Ossie, Ossie cain't hardly fly, all she doe' is fall from th'sky!"

Twist was, quite honestly, off in his own little world. Well, that was until he heard the word 'Scout' said by a very familiar little voice....

"Scout!" His tufts leapt upwards. The fight culminating between his two fledglings went unnoticed, as per usual, though he unconsciously jostled them at his sides. "Darling...oh, dear, you want to be a Scout?"

A sudden wave of confusion and doubt crossed Ossie's face. Her eartufts pressed agianst her head and she glanced up at Twistumbler with beak agape. This worried and somewhat disheartened glance was quickly replaced with her bold and determined demeanor.

"Yes. Not problem, no? I c'n be a Scout?"

Twist was somewhat taken aback. He managed - much to his good graces - to seize a look that would soften the surprise that flowered across his face. If Ossie were that pertinacious, then why not be a Scout? Well, he snapped at himself. Because she's precious and little and sweet. He stared at her for a while more, worry with a dash of pride.

"'Course i'ssa problem. Y'en't strong 'nuff, duh!"

Twist blinked and bopped Song lightly; she nibbled at his wing feathers.

"Of course you can, Osprey. I can't tell you what not to be, can I?" He smiled gently and nibbled her tufts, "But, boy, you will have me losing feathers with worry!"

"I'm plenny strong 'nough!" Osprey shot back at Songbloom, then turned her attention back to Twistumbler. His preening and consent were enough to settle her.

"Oh! Dun' worry, Papa Twist! I'w be safe! I en't gonna get m'self 'urt or nothin! W'Miss Breeze teaches me, I'w be knowin' what 't do!"
