Perily wiped her eyes with the back of her hand. Her skin recovered her scales and her red hair had fallen in her face. She looked at the tea and reached for the sugar. The little pot bounced out of reach, then scuttled over to her cup. It looked at her expectantly, as if waiting for her to say something.
She blinked a couple times, then whispered. "Two please." The sugar pot dumped two lumps of sugar into the tea and hopped off to join the milk. She reached for the milk, which floated up and poured itself in. She gingerly took the cup in her hands and began to drink. The sweet and hot drink soothed her nerves, and she was able to see the world calmly.
She looked at the Mad Hatter with her golden eyes. He's handsome... she thought quietly. Even in her own mind she was timid. She flushed some, and tilted the teacup so that the fluid flooded her mouth and her nose and cheeks were hidden from view.

Jinx paced the ground while Perily was getting her tea ready. He was ranting to himself, saying things like " So they must be bringing more people here! More people! Oh, no, oh, no, oh, no. It was already a disaster with Alice! " He paced some more, rubbing a beard that wasn't there. A glasses owl landed on his face, giving him a completely different look. " Off, off, get off of me! " He batted the owl off of his face, which then proceeded to land on Perily. " Oh, no. Oh, god this is not good. Where is my sister at a time like this? Aaargh! " He smacked his forehead, pacing in a circle. He motioned for the teapot, a teacup, the sugar, and the cream to come to him. He ate a cube of sugar straight, accidentally drank some of the cream, and just took his tea without. Eventually the cream and sugar got in there, lord knows how with him pacing like that. " And SO, my conclusion is that there is someone out there, besides that old queen, who wants Wonderland! " He paced a bit more, scratching at his head and adjusting his newly applied monocle.

"So this is Wonderland?" Perily peered at him over the teacup. She felt insanely curious now. "Like the book? Alice in Wonderland?" She looked around. Things started to click for her. If this was Wonderland... but it wasn't! The queen was ruler of Wonderland wasn't she? But the book was written in the early nineteenth century or something, or was it the twentieth? So... that meant.
She looked up at him. "Are you the Mad Hatter?"

Jinx turned around and met the gaze of Perily. " Why, yes, yes I am. " He bowed, with a hand on his hat, but it never came off. " But nothing like that dwarf in the book! That terrible book! " He scowled at the thought of it. How did they find out about Alice, anyways?' " That queen will never be fit to rule! What a terrible woman! " He coughed into his hand, and closed his eyes, assuming a totally different face. " Ah, yes. Did you ever hear about Alice as a child? She's such a sweet girl....did you know she never really got out? " The story in the book was almost true, except for the character designs, the queen ruling, and the fact that there weren't any houses or lakes or sources of food. No, the people here weren't THAT deformed, and there was a community of empty houses. Lord, I hated that book....

Perily shrugged. "I only read it once in fourth grade. It was a bit of an escape for me." the tea pot poured some more tea into her cup. "I never really was good at socializing. And all these zany characters were so... wacky! I found it amazing that anyone could be that way." She flushed. "I actually had a bit of a crush on one of the characters as a kid." She didn't say which character, for fear of being laughed at. She wouldn't say that she had had a crush on the Mad Hatter in front of THE Mad Hatter!

Jinx raised his eyebrows. " Ah yes, well, maybe you can meet Alice, later...." He paused, thinking. " Wait, you didn't have a crush on my sister, did you? I think that'd be awkward. " He continued to pace, until the teapot added more tea to his cup. The cream and sugar came next, but he ended up eating plain sugar cubes instead. " Mmm. That doesn't fill, but the mouse is busy making more.... " He trailed off, thinking about the mouse. Of course, he never really felt sorry for her, but she was cute, and it seemed a shame to keep her in a teapot all day. She should be on display, like a doll.... A few sugar cubes later, he was talking again, in that crazy manner of his. " So, can you tell me the tale of this Alice in Wonderland? We'll see how true it was... " He was sure that that story wasn't very close to what really happened. He laughed. " You know, when I was a bit younger, I had a bit of one of those 'crushes' on Alice myself. Ahahaha! I wonder if that would even be possible now... ahahaha! Who knows... " He trailed off, saying " Now, for the story...? "

"Would that be the March Hare?" She inquired. "And no, it was..." Perily flushed. "It was..." She smiled weakly. "It was you." She buried her nose in the tea cup again, ignoring the bitter taste of unsweetened tea. It was too hot and burned her tongue and throat. She ignored it for now. When she was done she began to recount the tale of Alice in Wonderland.

Jinx was eating a sugar cube while listening to Periyl He almost choked when he heard he say that she had once liked an image portrayed by a madman of him. He quietly listened to the story, and nodded his head as she went. " Ah-huh. No, that never happened...Ah-huh...Ah-huh.... " Near the end of the story, he put his cup on a small table that barked, and said. " Well, that story is a bit off. Now...." He had trouble finding the words, but eventually said " But, you say that once took liking to an image of me portrayed by a man who was on chemicals unattainable here? " He put his hand to his fore-head, and chuckled. Of course, he was still insane. " My dear, you may have not noticed, which is highly unlikely, that both of those versions of this here hatter were raving mad, as myself. " He ate another sugar cube, and continued " That man portrayed me as a crazy dwarf with a drinking problem. Although, I would rather like it if it was the personality you enjoyed, as that was based off of myself. Quite flattering of that man... " He trailed off again, taking off his monocle. " But, I have to say, an opinion is an opinion. The book was rewritten, anyhow. What do I know? The only source of information is what I get from those twittering little birds. "

Krystin came back, unsuccessful in her attempts to draw one Alice Liddel into Wonderland. She decided to check up on wonderful little Perily, and hid in the bushes by the thrones. She listened to the conversation, smiling. How delightful! This would be lovely entertainment for Little Miss Portyl.

"I was nine. A bit of a kook myself." Perily grimaced. "And I drew the character differently. Everyone laughed and poked jokes at my portrayal of him. I even wrote a short quip of a story about the Mad Hatter. It didn't fit into the book though." She reached around and found she'd been sitting on her notebook. "See?" She opened the notebook. "This is the Mad Hatter I fell for." She showed him the notebook, flushing. They looked nearly identical!

Alice walked threw the forest, she noticed the girl sitting on his chair. Of course he's found something new.. still with the pacing in ranting though. She walke dout of the wood's and curtcied to Perily, a slight girn on her face. "Hello Miss. I'm Alice, and you are?" She ignored the MadHater's pacing and ranting. Glancing over at him from the corner of her eye.

Perily was just berating her race, unable to tell a lie, when she heard Alice. "Perily Jones!" She answered automatically, flushing. She was glad that the Mad Hatter was ranting and didn't hear her and tucked her notebook away. She blushed even brighter. "A-alice?" She looked at her.

Jinx continued pacing, now taking in the story and whatnot, and only stopped when the barking table ran under him, making him trip. " Bad table! Ba---- Alice! There you are! " He grabbed her by the shoulders and pulled her to the side. " We have a problem here. " He hissed in her ear " There are people..humans being brought to Wonderland by some rabbits. " He crouched down, pulling her, too. " I want you to help me give this girl a tour, okay? And help me with those rabbits, okay? And don't DON'T let the queen find out. " He stood back up, and resumed pacing, eating a few sugar cubes on the way.

Krystin thought that this was all incredibly amusing. She let out a cute little rabbit giggle, but covered her mouth. Oh dear, her cover was blown! She glanced up, wondering if anyone had seen. Personally she'd rather if her twin brother had gotten the dragon, then she wouldn't be in this situation! She remained deathly silent, ready to jump through another portal at any time.

"Nice to meet you Perily." Alice glanced up at Mad Hater then to the wood's. "Do you hear that." She walked past Perily and moved the bush uncovering a Rabbit. She looked away and called Mad Hater over. "Mah Hater I think I found one of your furry friends.." She picked the Rabbit up and brought her over to him.
