yeah I thought the same thing! faux Cloud's fortune=Zack's fortune and Caith Sith prediction ARE unreliable, that line is nothing serious.
Lunar, do you really believe Aerith is over-glorified by the creators? she is never really identified as an unearthly beauty the only time I can remember is in her profile when they call her "beautiful". I've always had the impression that Tifa was meant to be more atractive(several guys have a crush on her,she is refered by Jhonny as "the angel" of the slums,she is the default Corneo Pick)and I also believe she really is the prettiest of the two.
But Aerith is also a beauty.
Tifa=prom queen,model kind of beauty
Aerith=girl`s next door kind of beauty

I'd say that both are pretty equal by now. I can't say who is even more popular among fans now. I used to think Aeris was a lot more popular, but now it feels as if they are neck and neck so to speak. ^^; I think that Tifa is gorgeous, but Aeris is the one who looks more like an angel. I think Tifa acts more like one, haha. Aeris has that girly, flirty, bubbly attitude. But Tifa is much more reserved and kind, IMO.  }

I think they are pretty equal in popularity, but I feel Tifa is getting the edge. mainly because of her appeal to the male audience(we know most gamers are male) a sign of that was this year's gamefaqs character battle, Tifa was the FF female that advanced furthest and Aerith didn't make it to the 128 finalists.

I hope that Tifa is rising in popularity. wink I mean, I like Aeris and everything, but in the past I never understood why she was so popular. Why she was the amazing heroine. Same with Terra from FFVI. I always though that Celes was the better woman. -shrugs-}
