GOD_OF_DEATH_RYUK halo_master Main reasons I don't want a PS3 yet:
The games. There just aren't enough GOOD ones to make me buy the system yet that aren't already on 360 (and better on 360, because of the better online service, Achievements, etc. In fact, ever since Xbox/PS2 games that have been on both systems are most of the time better on Xbox. Go to www.gamerankings.com and type in games that are on both systems and you'll see for yourself.) I will definitely want one when MGS4 comes out, but I still won't be buying the system for awhile after that.
The online. I won't even begin to try and compare it to Live.
How much of a d**k Sony has been in the past to it's customers. Microsoft put a 3 year warranty on their system, because the knew they ******** up. The PSP had MAJOR dead pixel problems for awhile...know what Sony said? I'll sum it up: "Too bad."
No more backwards compatibility? ******** that; I still need to buy a PS2 then, first.
Is there rumble yet? I will not play a shooter without rumble. Shooter = my favorite genre. No shooters = no system.
Will I still have to buy a damn blue tooth headset just so I can talk? Screw that, if I do.
Reasons I would like to get a PS3:
It will have awesome games, exclusives.......in a long time from now.
CHEAP Blu Ray player. Not a big deal though. I don't really care about HD movies.
Well, I USED to be able to say I could play my older PS1 games and some PS2 games that I still haven't got to play but...
There really isn't much else that is selling me. If someone could sway me, tell me GOOD reasons to invest money in a PS3, go for it. I'm not a raging Xbox 360 fanboy, I just honestly don't see why the system sells at all except for the fact that is is a "Playstation." well, dualshock 3 comes out next week which has rumble, and the new 80 gb's they are making has backwards compatibility and no, you don't use a bluetooth headset for it, i use a usb (yes i have a ps3, but i also have a 360) Quoted for truth, I have both the 60 and the 80 alot with 4 360's some are different, the only difference between 60 and 80 is that on the 80 the backwards is emulated and the 60 has ps2 stuffs in it to play backwards.

Well then, good, rumble, a regular headset (though, if there is a headset like the Turtle Beach headsets, which I have for my 360, those are way better), and are you sure about backwards compatibility? Like, if I went out right now and bought the NEWEST version, could I play my old games?

The graphics are better on the PS3 than they are on the 360, I would probably have better piece of mind as well knowing that it has an extremely low failure rate due it's awesome cooling. I'm trying not to get too attached to my 360 because I feel that it is almost inevitable that I will get the RoD at some point in the future, even I got it about a month and a half ago. It has a built-in Blu-ray player as everyone knows and one thing I think is unbelievably awesome about that is that games will actually take advantage of the massive amount of disc bandwidth that Blu-ray has. Games such as MGS4, this allows for putting a huge game on a single disc for seamless progression through the game. Whereas a console like the 360 still only has a standard DVD player which can only have so much data on one disc, so some games have to be put on multiple discs. I think it is SO cool how you can easily take out and put in a new larger and possibly faster hard drive ( here's how). More storage space and faster loading times, it doesn't get much better than that. I would love to be able to do that on my 360 without using an uncomfortable hex wrench and voiding my hard drive's warranty. Some earlier models of the PS3 had the same CPU/GPU combo (as can be found in the new Slim PS2s), soldered right onto the their motherboards in addition to the PS3 hardware, which provided great backwards compatibility, in fact, it was backwards compatible with over 90% of PS2 games according to this article. Unfortunately, to cut production costs, Sony decided to remove the CPU from the motherboard (and replace it with software CPU emulation) but kept the PS2 GPU on board the motherboard, needless to say, the absence of the CPU crippled backwards compatibility by quite a bit. The current 40GB version contains neither piece of hardware actually, while the 80GB version still retains the GPU and therefore the 80GB version would be the better choice for one that wishes to have backwards compatibility. If if you want to have as much as possible though, it would be best to find an older 20, 60, or 80GB model because they have the most PS2 hardware on board and allow for 90% backwards compatibility. I find it stupid how the 40GB seems be dumbed down far more than the 80GB model, it lacks a flash card port, 2 USB ports (the only PS3 released to date with less than 4 USB ports), and SACD(Super Audio CD)(also a first for the PS3 to lack), and it seems to have no backwards compatibility at all. This is all coming from this chart of course: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PS3#Retail_configurations More of a rant than a review really but what the hell else would I have done with that hour?

hehe alright to the last guy, I didn't want to quote because it was to long... Ok so first point is false, Graphics do not look better on the PS3, its proven, if video proof is not enough the specs will also prove it. The PS3 really only has the edge on Processing power, and to be quite honest, i'd rather have the better GPU then the better CPU.
As for point 2, it is true but they both use the same cooling method.... fans -_-. As for the blu ray player, I mean thats great, I guess but its nothing spectacular, its great to see games like MGS4 go on it, but really a developer only needs 8 gigs, 50 is way to much, the only reason any games go past 8 gigs, is because there are WAY to many cinematics, because cinematics take up A LOT of space on a disc.
The hard drive replacement feature is great exept that it needs to be a notebook hard drive which is a real drawback for the funtion because they are not as cheap and easy to snag, as the desktop hard drives, but its a great feature that the 360 doesnt have, but unfortunately you need the extra space with all the installations done by the games you play.
The CPU/GPU combo is a cool idea, and it helps to greatly increase the number of backwards compatibility games because there is no need to work an emulation, like the 360 does, so it doesnt have to be updated, which is nice.
The 40GB model had to be put out there because all the other model's were to expensive for the average gamer. And as much as it is to bad, it was a smart move on Sony's part, if they had kept with their older models and old price they would still be having a tough time.

Well, I've worked around electronics and gaming systems for about a year now, so I'm fairly knowledgable about PS3s and such. I really want to play MGS4, but other than that, the PS3 doesn't really have any exclusive titles that I'm interested in. The fact that it is also a Blu-Ray player is pretty awesome since I'm big on HDTV, but I'm not going to run out and buy it just for that.
Additionally, Sony is very proprietary, and that goes for all of their products, everything from PS3s to digital cameras. Pretty much all the cables, li-ion batteries, memory cards, etc., that you buy for your Sony products have to be bought through/made by Sony (for example, Sony cameras use a Memory Stick Pro Duo instead of an SD card). They make great stuff, but that's one big thing that turns me away from a lot of their products.
I'm pretty content with my 360 until I manage to magically pull a spare 600 bucks out of my a**.

y i would buy a PS3: -MGS4 (one game would not make me buy it) -Homes -free online play -when the price goes down to about $300 (a long time from now) -hard drive replacement -if my 360 fails to work -backward compatibility
features i dont care about: -blu ray (dont really care about blu ray movies) -graphics (they both have satisfying graphics) -
y i wouldnt buy a PS3: -i already have a 360 -wired headset to the PS3 (i dont want to be all up on the PS3 while online) -i have a history w/ the PSP failing -terrible warranty -cost too much -games require space just to play it then extra space to save -no interesting exclusive games (except MGS4)
