Ishi actually laughed when Lizzy suggested getting the dumb boy, since he was kinda mean and scared her...a lot. But the idea of Kae-Askavi as a super hero made her laugh even more. Giggling, she reached up to pet the kitten again. "He fights bad guys like?" she asked, tilting her head curiously. "Seems awful small..."

Her expression was doubtful, but hopeful. Because if that little kitten was a superhero, maybe there was hope for her after all.

Mercury laughed a bit. "Mine is usually a bit of an introvert. Looks like she's coming out of her shell a bit, though."

The next thing she was about to say was interrupted by the first organized chord of the evening. "Ah," Mercury said lightly. "It's finally starting." She quieted a bit, training her eyes on the stage.

Ishi, however, was unimpressed. Mama played music like that at home from a little box that was, in her opinion, much more exciting. After all, everyone knew instruments made music. She hadn't known boxes did!

"Psst!" she hissed to Lizzy. "Are you bored?"

"He'll get big," she said back, patting Kae-Askavi. "Aunt Riku said that kitties like Kae-'Skavi get huuuuge. Like a thousand hundred pounds!" Then she fell quiet with the first chord. It was pretty, but when they weren't jumping around like the guys on the Alternative Rock channel Mama liked, it wasn't really interesting.

"Yeah," Lizzy whispered back. "Am bored. You too?"

Demi nodded. Her daughter knew not to run around when people were watching something, so she could listen to the music and not worry about losing Lizzy.

Ishi, even if she couldn't actually bring herself to believe what Lizzy was saying, brightened immensely and laughed a little at the thought of a giant kitty. "Wow!" she said in a hushed voice, and then looked up at Mercury. Her mama seemed really interested in the music, but she still didn't understand why.

"You ask your mama if you can come down an' sit wi' me on blanket?" she asked quietly, tugging at something in the bag Mercury had brought and eventually unearthing a somewhat large picnic blanket. Spreading it out on the ground, she sat on it and looked up at Lizzy. "That way we talk and nobody gets mad!"

"Okay," Lizzy whispered, and she reached up to tug on her mother's hair. "I go sit with Ishi?" With a sigh, she was set down on the picnic blanket by her friend. She leaned conspiratorially close to her and muttered, "We gotta still be quiet, even if we're all down here." And, well, it was true! You couldn't be loud, even if it was boring.

"Yeah, I know," Ishi whispered back. "Mama gets all mad when I talk an' she's listening to stuff. Says it's rude." She shrugged, unsure how she felt about that for the time-being, and looked around for something to do. Mama was really interested in whatever was going on on the stage, and Ishi considered things that she and Lizzy could do for a little bit. She didn't like the idea of sneaking away much, so that was out, and...she was kind of lost for anything.

Wait! Mama had brought stuff for her! Getting up and reaching into the bag again, she dug through until she found a big zip-lock bag full of stuff for her. There were two juice boxes, and she dug those out, offering one to Lizzy. There was also a puzzle and some books.

Dumping the bag out onto the blanket, she picked up the puzzle box and shook it. "Wanna do?" she asked Lizzy, curious. Maybe this girl would like the same things as she did.

"It sorta is," came a conspiratorially whispered reply. Lizzy took the juice box and felt bad, because she didn't have anything to offer back. Mother had all the snacks, and she didn't want to bother Mother again so soon. As a distraction, she nodded happily. "Let's play puzzle," she agreed, clapping her hands together exactly three times. "What is it a puzzle of?"

She was taken aback by Lizzy’s simple agreement with Mama, and then decided it didn’t really matter. Maybe Lizzy’s mama was different, or maybe Lizzy was just weird. Whatever.

The question got her engaged again. “Is of, ummm...” Ishi paused and looked down at the box. “Heh, it’s kittens!” she answered delightedly, opening the box and tipping the pieces out onto the blanket. Suddenly remembering her juice box, she focused on getting that opened and then went back to the puzzle.

“Gotta do the edges first, that’s what mama says,” she said, and started sorting. The puzzle itself was about thirty pieces, so it wasn’t hard. After a few minutes, she had a fairly sizable pile, though probably not all of them. Enthusiastic, she was. Thorough...not so much.
