"Hi," said Orli, poking her hand through the net to wave to the man below. She'd vaguely thought Grayson's father might be a penguin, but that was sort of foolish of her considering that she didn't look anything like Ranza and Ranza didn't look anything like Nahuel and none of them looked a bit like Mom. Speaking of whom...
She scanned the playground in search of Eshaa and a momentarily panic overtook her that perhaps she had been abandoned, but then she spotted the woman sitting on one of the benches reading and calmed herself. "That's my Mom," she said, pointing.
"Mom!" she shouted. Eshaa looked up.
"What?" she called.
"Hi!" cried Orli, waving. Eshaa waved back and went back to her book. Orli focused again on the far platform. "Let's gooooo," she said, tugging gently at Grayson's arm.

"Be careful," Landor almost whispered, looking helpless. Grayson sent him a look that said it's okay and Landor bit his lip and tried to smile but fell a little short, running his fingers through his greying hair in worry.
Grayson couldn't let Landor hold him back, as usual, so he happily agreed with Orli, "Okay!" and headed off across the rope bridge, taking a bit more care to avoid stepping through the holes. Landor let Grayson go, but hovered at the periphery just in case, pale and worried even after Grayson's feet ended up once more on solid platform and he stood up, happy and triumphant.

They'd made it! Orli felt a surge of triumph rising in her chest. They'd defeated the rope bridge and made it to the platform! The slide was in sight!
Okay, what next?
She could see the slide, but no straight path to get there by. There was a set of child-sized stairs peeling off to the left around a massive tic-tac-toe board. Orli decided those were the best bet and motioned towards them.
"That way," she said, beginning to climb.

"Okay," said Grayson, who gave the impression of being prepared to follow any suggestion. He was really looking forward to the slide, but starting to wish they had tried just walking around to that section of the playset. Orli seemed to find the route they were taking fun, but this was a lot more climbing than Grayson was used to. He did his best to follow his father's advice and be careful. It made him somewhat slower than Orli.

Finally, they arrived at the top of the play set, and Orli planted her feet and stood firmly. This was a major feat. Like climbing Mt. Everest! Seriously! She grinned at Grayson and raised her hand for a high five, which was what her brother did whenever they did something cool, and if this wasn't "something cool", then Orli didn't know what cool was.
The lip of the slide was only a few feet away across the platform.
"Let's go!" she cheered, tugging the penguin boy towards it.
