Nicolette walked into the common room for the second time that night. She'd left after ditching the first years earlier, but she'd forgotten to do something on her way down. Now she entered for last time of the night, being as she didn't have patrols on the first night back. She hesitated once she stood inside, glancing at the green and silver decor with a soft, loving gaze. She glanced at the stairs up to the girl's room and a slight frown plastered itself on her lips. She wanted to stay down in the common room, slightly, but, alas, she had things to do upstairs.

She took one last look at the room she hadn't seen all summer and paused. A seventh year was crashed on a couch. The same one who had collapsed earlier, if she remembered right. She shook her head, debating for a moment if she should try and get the girl up to her bed. She decided not to, eventually, since the girl was covered and probably comfortable. She twisted back toward the stairs and made her way up to her dorm.

Cara headed into the common room. Something about the common room irked her, but it was better than wandering around an unfamiliar castle at night in search for a place to read. She picked a couch that was as close to a heat source as she could. She definitely did not like the cold and dampness of this place. 'I wonder what the other houses' common rooms are like.' she thought. She rubbed her hands together, hoping to warm them up a bit, and then opened the book, Weird Wizarding Dilemmas and Their Solutions. She was instantly entranced at all the things the book talked about, though some of it was rubbish.

Almost instantly, Ascella opened her eyes, hearing several people coming in and out of the common room. A frown was on her face as her body almost instantly tensed back up as she sat vertical in the seat.
Wrapping the blanket around her, she took a deep breath, her hair was a complete mess, and she felt like she could pass out, but she wasn't tired anymore.

Standing up, Ascella really wished she could just talk to someone, or be with someone she trusted.
"Where'd Dex go?" Her words spoken were soft, just enough for her to hear. Making her way over to the back of the common room, she looked at the wall, it seemed as if she was staring at something on the wall. What she was really doing was imagining a window there, wishing she could just stare at the sky forever.

I wish I could just fly away, vanish so I don't have to deal with anyone..Though, I don't think I would actually do it if I had the chance. I couldn't leave Dexter. Maybe if I just like, lost my memory. The doctor said that if I have one more big seizure I could be rendered with amnesia. Which I guess would be bad, but what would I really loose that I couldn't get back. It's not like I have and cherished memories. I'm most happy when I'm drunk, and even then in the morning I totally forget what I did. Who knows? I could have like, been raped or something by a really hot guy and I wouldn't know? Oh who am I kidding. Surely not myself. I should just deal with my problems instead of running away from them.

With a sigh, Ascella slowly sank to the floor, her face as blank as she could possibly keep it, hopefully no one would ask her what was wrong. The only thing she wanted was to talk to someone. Dexter. He would know what to do, or at least help her figure it out.
"Damnit Dex. You come in, and then you vanish." Not wanting to go to sleep, Ascella shoved her hand in her mouth, biting down hard to keep her mind off of how tired she was.
I want some ice cream. Ascella made her way to the girls dorm, and after a few minutes returned to the common room.
Instead of wearing the standard uniform, Ascella had changed into her neon orange flannel pajama pants, they were resting rather low on her hips, close to showing her green and silver underwear. Instead of her normal shirt, she had on a purple tank top and a black tank top, the purple on top, so that there would be a layering effect. Down the right pant leg was a thick black stripe, and another horizontal stripe just as thick going across her mid thigh.

Ascella returned to staring at the wall, the blanket Dex had brought her was still wrapped around her shoulders, looking at the wall with great intensity.

Cara looked up briefly when the older girl had walked into the room in her pajamas. Unfortunately, she almost burst out laughing. The pants were ridiculous-looking and the place that they were sitting on her hips made it look trashy. And the colors of the tank tops, just completely screamed halloween, which wasn't for another month. Cara stifled the laugh, so it came out in a small snort. The snort wasn't very loud, but in a quiet room, it was the only noise to be heard. She quickly looked down into the book she was reading in an attempt to make it look like she hadn't said or done anything other than read the book.

Ascella's gaze tore from the wall and fell on the girl who had clearly snorted, since no one else was in the common room. A cold frown was on her face as she looked at the clearly naive first year.
"Hold your tongue, or you wont have a tongue to hold." Her voice was cold and harsh as she looked at the first year. Ascella didn't want to deal with any s**t today, she just wanted to pour her heart out into a bucket of ice cream with her best friend.
Ascella didn't play games, she knew the first year wouldn't stand a chance against her, and the fact that she could sum up fake tears in a heartbeat put her on top. Even with all that, she knew that no matter what she did to the young slytherin, she would get in trouble. Whether she cared about it or not, was another question.
I could kill her now. Swift and silent. Then play 'dead' on the floor. With the epilepsy thing, I can get away with just about anything. Ascella knew how to bring on a seizure, though, the possibility of her loosing her memory threatened her not to do such a thing to herself. Though, she was always able to fake it.
Deep down Ascella knew that she wouldn't do anything to harm the young girl, but that didn't keep her from threatening. Ascella wanted to do something to the girl, and if she got expelled, or even threatened to get expelled, her mother would just come over and bail her out. Throwing the medical thing in their faces, her recent seizure would only help her chances.
With a frown, Ascella let her body slink to the floor, her back sliding against the wall all the way down. It almost looked like she had fainted, though, with her eyes wide awake and alert, everyone could tell that nothing was wrong. Or so they thought. On the inside Ascella was screaming at herself for not doing anything more. Taking a deep breath, Ascella leaned her heads against the wall, her eyes tightly closed as she tried to calm herself down. The urge to just leave and go to the kitchen to drown herself in ice cream was overwhelmed by the desire not to move. Her body ached, and was numb all at the same time.
The Bloody baron came by, looking down at the blond, obviously unhappy, and offered her a smile. Ascella opened one eye, and the expression shot down the Bloody Baron's smile like a bazooka would shoot down a party balloon.
The bloody baron went back to his business, and Ascella went back to sulking in her misery, her hands unconsciously grabbing the blanket, protecting it from anyone who may dare to take it from her. The blanket smelled like Dexter, a scent that Ascella cherished almost as much as Kale's. The blanket smelled like kindness and caring, something that wouldn't make sense to anyone, even if she explained it to the best of her ability.

Cat entered the common room right as Ascella was threatening a small first year.

"Hold your tongue, or you won't have a tongue to hold."

Cat halted, raising an eyebrow and crossing her arms. "Temper, temper, Ascella." She shook her head, slightly disgusted. It had always bothered her how some of the older students felt the need to take their stress out on the younger ones; she felt that it was an abuse of power that was, frankly, stupid. After all, look at history. When you oppress the weak, it nearly always comes back to bite you. Her disgust wasn't lessened any by Ascella's loud outfit, and she vaguely wondered if the first year girl had mentioned something about that to set Ascella off. "Wouldn't want to let, say, Kale catch you threatening an eleven-year-old, would you? And is that any way to welcome--" she paused, glancing at the first year, thinking hard back to the Sorting. Her name... was... "--Cara--" I hope "--to Slytherin?"

Ascella managed a small smile at Cat, trying to ignore her comment about Kale.
"Sorry. I was out of line. Bad day obviously." With a small nod of her head, she returned to being a complete space case, staring at the wall, imagining a beautiful view of the sky. Normally, she would have gone somewhere where she could have actually seen the sky, but she was to tired to get up off the floor.
"Welcome to the Dungeons Cara." It was said rather dryly, though, it wasn't meant to be rude.
Running her fingers through her bangs, her other hand untieing her hair, Ascella let her albino blond hair fall into her lap, jut the ends touching her knees as the blond hair spread across her back.

Cara felt very grateful to Cat for defending her. After all, Ascella's threat seemed very real to her, considering the fact that Cara didn't really know any good magic. Her mother had taken the time to teach her one charm and one charm only, feeling that it would be her best defense until she could learn to fight. The charm was Protego, the protecting charm. Since the charm was very difficult for a first year to learn, it had taken Cara a full year to learn it, but she knew that once she had it down pact, the charm would be invaluable. And, more or less, she could do it now.

"Welcome to the Dungeons Cara." Ascella welcomed her, though completely unenthusiastically. Since it was completely rude to not respond, Cara replied in a quiet voice, "Thank you." Cara was indeed feeling very grateful to Cat. When Ascella untied her hair, Cara felt a bit shocked that her hair was almost white. It wasn't that it was almost white, but because she had never seen someone with such whitish hair other than herself. She'd never met another albino, so this was indeed an interesting moment for her. She unconsciously reached behind her head, grabbed some of her hair that was in a ponytail and pulled it forward so that she could see just how white hers was in comparison.

Ascella stared at her feel, her sister had taken the time to giver her a pedicure before she started school, even with Ascella's protests. Seeing the girl look at her hair, she realized that the young one was indeed albino. Ascella had seen a few other albino's, though living with her mother, who was completely albino, so she was used to seeing such white hair.

Ascella looked at herself, well as much as she could in her position. She did look rather ridiculous, but those pajama pants were her favorite. Every year before school she would bewitch them to look just like new. They were her comfort clothes, for having worn them when she was in the hospital for a week over the summer under observation.
Though, she normally wore a white tank top with the pants, she didn't have any that fit her, so putting on the black and purple was just second nature to her.

Where is Dexter. I might as well get to bed if he doesn't show up..

Going back to staring at her feet, she noticed how well her sister took care of her. Even when Melanie was six months pregnant, and getting really big, she still took care of Ascella. Melanie was always like that, taking care of everyone else before herself. Though, Ascella always wondered how on earth she managed to get knocked up.

Having wandered the corridors aimlessly for a good hour, Dexter was more than ready to re-greet his common room and hopefully, his housemates that would still be awake. After all, who actually went to bed early on the first day of school so they'd have a good nights rest for classes? Not Slytherins....he hoped. For boredom was not the type of companionship that Dexter enjoyed. So bounding through the Slytherin entrance after hurriedly speaking the password, Dexter gave a large smile to the three witches that resided exactly where he had hoped life would exist.

"Cella, Cat and Cara...my, my! That's a mouthful of C's. Welcome to the dungeons my little Caracoo." As he past the small first year, Dexter quickly, but kindly, patted the small girl's head. Being the oddly out of place and friendly guy he was, Dex loved when they got new house members. Always thinking they were too cute for their own good and just wondering what trouble they'd end up getting into as the year progressed.

His smile graced Cat next before reaching Ascella and widening even further. "My flower, the diamond in my desert, where ever have you been? I'm sure we will have to reschedule that escape into the kitchens for tomorrow night now, much too late for such outings. And you. You're exhausted, I can't keep you out even longer. No, no." Carrying a hot mug of conjured cocoa, Dexter handed it off to Ascella in hopes to ease her pain and troubles, if only the slightest bit.

Ascella couldn't help but smile as Dexter entered the room. His cheerfulness always put a smile on her face. Taking the cocoa, sipping delicately as she let the warmth of the cup radiate through her body, she smiled up at Dexter.
"Thank you for the cocoa Dexter..I'm sorry that the trip to the kitchen will have to wait. I was looking forward to some ice cream." Putting on a fake pout, she couldn't help but be glad that Dexter was there. After her two hour nap, she didn't feel as tired, though, the taste of something warm knocked her into a false sense of sleepiness. Hot beverages had the tendency to do so, and Cella always expected that Dexter knew that trick, though she wasn't completely sure of her suspicions.

With a smile, Ascella made a motion to stand up, but after that day she would be surprised if she could make her way to her bed on her own. Let alone with a mug of hot cocoa. Feeling defeated, Ascella stayed on the floor, sipping her drink with excitement, truly touched by Dexter's small acts of kindness.
Wrapping her hands around the cup, her nose touching the rim, she inhaled the aroma of chocolate, the hot milky drink radiated heat through her hands. The only thing Ascella liked about hot drinks was the feeling of warm hands.

"Thanks for the blanket Dexter."
Ascella knew that Dexter had placed the blanket on her a while before, and was thankful that someone at hogwarts would actually be kind. The only reason that she knew Dexter gave the blanket to her, was because he was the only one who would dare kiss her on the forehead, or do anything nice in the slytherin commons.

Immediately dropping down next to Ascella, Dexter faked a yawn with a hidden smile as he draped his closest arm around her waist. With the lightest of tugs, he pulled the tired witch into his lap, careful of the hot mug. It'd be a tragedy to have the boiling contents burn his lovely skin. No doubt. "Oh, it can wait. THe Kitchens will always be there, as will I. So anytime we can make that long awaited trip. Easy peasy. And the icecream wont even melt because of those dear house elves. Really, I am quite fond of them. The little buggers." The smile on his lips stayed soft as Dexter bundled Cella in his arms, bridal style, and stood easily. Him being on the lean side and her on the skinny one, it was an easy task. "Thought the blanked could use your company," There was a spark that danced in his eyes, "Don't worry, I wasn't doing it for your comfort." Though no one could hear his laughter, Dex was sure that Ascella could feel its rumble in his chest, since he held her so close.

"Huh, think I should chance a walk up the girls' stairs? Who knows, maybe they'll be confused since I'm a flounce now. You know, the last time I tried it I didn't know I wasn't straight...." His queery trailed off with a hint of amusement. THough Dexter would never try something that dangerous with Ascella curled in his arms. Instead, he glided towards the bottum of the girls' staircase before setting her down, keeping an arm around he to ensure her balance was intact.

As Dexter lifted her up, she couldn't help but smile. The blanket, the cocoa, the bridal style lift over to the stairs. Dexter is amazing.
"Thanks either way Dex. I don't know how I would survive without you hun."
Smiling, she grabbed the railing, making sure to steady her. Wobbling slightly, due to the quick transition from sitting to standing, and low blood sugar, she held onto the railing for dear life.
Finishing off the cocoa, though still holding the warm mug, she could feel the buzz of sugar running through her.
"Yes, those house elfs are a wonder. Though, if they eat my ice cream there will be hell to pay. Hell!"

Holding the blanket tightly around her, she knew that what Dexter said about the blanket needing someone wasn't true. He cared for her, and vise versa, though Dexter was far better at showing it. Ascella took a deep breath through her nose, smelling scents of Dexter, cocoa, and the musk of the dungeons. She loved the smell of the dungeons, anyone who wasn't a slytherin would surely get a cold from all the spider webs, but it smelled like home to her. Even though this was the last year it would be her home.

"Well Dex, I've always known you were a flounce. I suspected for a long time, though, after the underwear incident, I knew for sure." Letting out a small delicate laugh, Ascella leaned up and kissed Dexter on the cheek, her form of gratitude since she wasn't good at showing thanks any other way.

Cat nodded in response to Ascella, indicating there were no hard feelings.

She returned Dexter's smile when he gave it to her, raising an eyebrow as well, and unable to keep herself from glancing him up and down just once. She sat down in an armchair to watch the fire for a little while, wondering where Harper might've gone to. She looked at the clock, sighing. Yes, I should probably be getting to bed... I hate going to bed. She wrinkled up her nose at the thought, and instead pulled out the Aeneid and flipped it open, beginning to read.

She glanced over when Dexter lifted Ascella and carried her to the stairs, a small smile touching her face. He knows what he's doing, that one. Always good for diffusing bad moods. Cat was rather impressed by Dex's charismatic qualities, as she tended to be by anything that gave one some kind of control over others, and cocked her head slightly, a curious look on her face as she continued to watch the older boy.

Nicolette walked into the chilly common room. She glanced at the fireplace, which had gone out sometime during the night. She couldn't help but wonder why the house elves hadn't seen to it yet. As she thought this, however, the fireplace roared to life suddenly, and she was reminded of the fact that house elves could go invisible.

"Thanks." She said softly, unsure if the elf would even hear her. Uncaring, for that matter. She walked over across the room toward the door, but was stopped from going any further by a sudden pain in her leg. She glanced down and blinked at Belle, whose claw was caught in her sock and, thus, her leg. She sighed, reaching down to help the panicking kitten before it pulled a slice of flesh from her leg.

"Didn't I leave you upstairs?" She asked, a laugh in her tone. She picked the kitten up and dumped her on the couch. "Sorry, love, but you can't come with me."

She threw a pillow over the kitten and watched as Belle attacked it. She shook her head and walked out of the common room after making sure Belle wasn't following her again.
