Such a sad story... Belle felt a heavy weight in the pit of her stomach, her usually bright and cheery manner dampened by this other demon's story. Frowning profusely, she shook her head, mane flopping from side to side around her small face.

"But it's not your fault," she stated, sounding a little bit like a child begging their mother for something in the toy store window, "She's the one that's wrong about us. So we're demons, yeah? Well, my human loves us more than she loves herself. She told me and my sister that every one of us are here for a reason, and that we can choose to fulfill that destiny or let it fall around us. I may not know a lot about the world outside that house, but what I do know is that everybody deserves a second chance. If the mess up, then... then it just wasn't meant to be."

She stood and took two large steps on her little legs, closing the distance. "Whether or not it was your fault doesn't matter, Tanzaku. You're allowed to be happy."

Pausing her miniature rant, Belle's chest puffed a bit, softly panting from her little burst of energy. She knew, inwardly, that he would probably be a bit put off by her speech, but she had given it a shot, and that was the best she could do. Lifting her paw, she gently grazed his talons with her own, before pulling it away.

"The offer still stands," she said after a moment, turning herself to face the dark path that was her way home, "As long as you can put up with my bratty sister, there's nothing to be scared of at my house." A smile cracked at her face, eyes closing in contentment. Starting forward, she glanced over her shoulder as she headed off. "Whatever your choice, you're always welcome at my home."

A soft laugh followed.

"And I'm sure you can find me."

Argent eyes closed as the silence set in again. What would the girl say? What was there to say? Cars whizzed by in the backdrop, their headlights like a scorching fire, and he longed to shy away, to retreat back into the blindness where he felt safe. His claws fell into the grooves they had already worn into the basketball and he held his breath, feeling like a wisp on the edge on the world.

"It may not be my fault, but she's made it to be that way. I think it makes her happier, that she can blame it on something and not just Fate," his tone arched a little, shaking, uncertain. "And I'm glad I can do that for her. It's the worst pain, you know. Losing your everything for no reason or some other human's unsatisfied bloodlust."

At her anger, her body, he chuckled to himself, but a grateful smile was once again perched on his lips. She looked like a stubborn child, but he was in no position to judge. Not when this stubborn child was trying, with her all, to save him. Not when he was nothing more than a child himself, wanting to be saved.

He knew it couldn't be done, it took a lot more than a girl and her small voice, but he liked to pretend.

But as she walked away, he felt a piece of his heart tearing, as if, even for one impossible moment, he would have imagined that she could have stayed, forever. He said her name once and twice over again in his head, though he knew there was no way he could forget.

"Good night, Belle."

It sounded off like an echo in his head afterwards: Belle, Belle, Belle-

And he knew he would never be the same.
