Why would one want to lie just to lighten someone's spirits?
She was a big girl, she could take the truth.
Little white lies are indeed lies, afterall.

So when he voiced his opinion, the mare's msiel grew tight as she raised her brows. Such a... Guarded response. At least it came off to her so. "Nobody is perfect, Ian." She said quietly, her gaze on his face, waiting for a resonse. She wasn't necessarily put off by his comment. Being bluntly truthful in everything said would be death to a conversation, wouldn't it? And if he said he didn't like her mane, her eyes, or how she walked, she probably would've been ticked off or bothered...

Maybe she was making excuses because he was handsome, had the prettiest eyes she had seen set on a face, and actually took the time to speak to her... She inwardly sighed at herself for letting her mind runaway with such silly thoughts.

Attempt at flirtation was a failure. He was laughing at her. That was quite the hit to her self esteem. She ddn't show it on her face as she glanced away for a moment, recollecting herself. She looked back at him when he replied, and Cicely rolled her eyes, "You're going to make me answer my own question?" She looked a little taken back, a brow raised.

"I'm all ears. So what exactly would bore me to death?"

Lies are lies, indeed...
...but sometimes the truth hurts, too much.
Isn't it better to protect someone from getting hurt then letting it happen?
If lie is what must be done, then lie away.

Eh, she had every right to be put off by his comment, if in fact she was. Her reaction told him quite so, but it didn't bother him. It was just an opinion afterall...but shall he explain himself? "I never said that, Cicely. But perfection is in the eyes of the beholder. You're only perfect to that 'special someone'. And plus, on a lighter note, I was told never to judge someone." He gazed right back at her, and held his eyes in hers for a few seconds, his voice ever so serious and his gaze all the more.

But just as quickly, his expression changed to amused, and his voice lighter. "If you insist on it though, I can say something. Maybe you should shorten that tail of yours. It drags on the floor, which would cause damage to it's beauty."

Ian laughed, harder than ever as he peered around her small body to look at the black tail. There was...nothing wrong with it, but if she insisted...she insisted.

"Oh..." Broad shoulders shrugged just a bit as he tore his gaze away from her for a moment, thinking. Maybe doing something like not answering her question was a bad idea. He probably should have just said something, even if he had to have been a lie...but now he couldn't.

"Now aren't you the stubborn one? Ha, well if you must....I like...." He hesitated, smokey eyes going wide as a hint of pink developed on his gray cheeks. What was he doing, blushing? Oh, no...please...go away....

"Uh...Uh....star-gazing, studying rock formations, finding hew plants, knowledgeable stuff, if you will...I get it from my Mother."

But what happens when they find out?
In the end, you're only hurting yourself, right?
And definitely the other person, that you betrayed them.

His words hit her funny. Maybe she was overanalyzing, but the words he chose... She blushed a little and laughed, shaking her head. "You said you doubted you'd find an imperfection on me... And that perfection in one is beheld by their special someone. What are you trying to say?" She smiled and glanced away, trying to compose herself. "Am I supposed to be someone special to you?"

There was no hint of flirtation in her voice, because to be honest, she didn't know if they were. But if he responded funny or annoyed, she'd play it off.

Cicely scoffed playfully and flicked her long dark tail in his direction, "I think the dirt and twigs tangled in it's tresses gives me an edgier look. I'm no stay at home mare." She smirked proudly and even more so when he called her stubborn.

At his interests, she had to look away for a moment as she giggled. She looked back at hiim with raised brows. "You're very intune with nature. Star-gazing is fun, but rock formations? Never tried looking at those..." She wrinkled her nose playfully, not sure if it really was all that fun.

Well yes, there is always the slight chance they'd find out if you lied.
But taking a CHANCE every once in a while didn't really hurt anyone, did it?
And if it did, oh well....you messed up.
Everyone makes mistakes.

He hadn't meant to make her feel wierd, he hadn't meant anything other than simple conversation with the words he chose. BUT he was conscience of the way he said it, and it bothered him. Why was he acting like this? For one, it was certainly not normal for him to flirt...in anyway possible, and two, he was usually more careful with...wording.

So it was all foreign to him, and even though he couldn't stop himself, he didn't really want to...maybe this experience would be a good one.

"Ah, well now you're getting ahead of yourself. I didn't mean to insinuate anything further than what I meant." He gave her a funny look in return, amused that she would even think that. "But one cannot know the future."

And with that he playfully winked at her, his conscience mind telling him it was incredibly foolish to do such a thing, but he....for once, ignored it.

"Ha ha. I suppose so. Well then there, you've just proven to me that there are no imprefections within you." He grinned, shaking his head at her proud stance, but it quickly went away as she heard her giggle. Oh, boy...that's exactly why he didn't want to admit to his leisures.

So Ian sighed before answering her...some-what of a non intended insult. "Yes, sure....but you're missing out on a wonderous time. See now, no two rocks are the same." His smokey eyes stumbled across a small rock on the ground before him, and he kicked it towards her. "Never again will you find a rock exactly like that one, no matter how hard you look."

If taking a chance really didn't hurt anyone...
Than where does one get off telling that somebody messed up?
So taking chances... It's only worth it if there's no way to make a mistake.

For someone she had just met, the words he spoke pulled at her heart in an aching manner. Why exactly? Well, she didn't know. So she was simply going to be some passerby to him. Sure, that was definitely something to smile at. 'What am I thinking? Don't look too into what he is saying..' She thought bitterly, but she kept her face clear of her troubled thoughts.

A smile appeared on her face when he winked and admitted that she had no imperfections... But it faded. There were imperfections. He hadn't known her long enough to see them. She pursed her lips when he kicked the rock her way and bean to talk about it. And honestly, it proved to be of little interest to her.

She kicked the rock back with her hoof, her eyes on the piece of stone as she mused over a way to bring the topic to something else, "So like a snowflake? No two are the same... Or like you?" She glanced up from under her eyelashes, trying to be coy and sly.

One doesn't need someone else to tell them they messed up.
It's human nature, and it's a part of morals.
As long as you know the difference between right and wrong, it shouldn't matter.
And you can't please everyone all the time.

Maybe what he was saying had a hidden message that even he didn't think to look into it as far as he was. Could there possibly be such thing as emotion, other than the typical 'happy, sad, angry'? Perhaps underneath all of what he showed, there was something else there and now...it was seeping out.

...Whatever it was, it didn't seem important enough to make him stop and think, or even cross his mind. Just a simple spark of thought way down in the pit of his mind...

He saw the smile, if even just for a moment, and it pleased him. Whatever she was thinking, it had to have been pleasant...one doesn't just smile for no reason....unless you were someone like Bliss...but his type were rare...and she wasn't like that. As far as he could tell. And he'd like to think that he had something to do with that smile, maybe he could be different then the ever-so-boring Ian he normally was?!

But the rock idea that he had in mind completely killed his hopes of being non-boring. He knew it was ridiculous to admit to such, but she had asked, hadn't she? If she didn't want to know, she wouldn't have asked of course. And it was better to tell the truth, so the lie doesn't get deeper when he had to prove himself.

"Snowflake? Ah, um...well I suppose. I've never really sat down and examined snowflakes, and I highly doubt anyone has considering their size, but I'm sure it's the same case." He grinned sheepishly, knowing her question wasn't literal, but feeling the need to make it such.

"And um, I didn't mean like me, really....well obviously no two creatures are the same, but rocks and snowflakes are inadamant objects. It's a completely different subject."

Ian stopped, and tried to take control of himself before he went a little too serious on her and scared her off.

"But if you look far and wide, I can guarantee you will not see anyone as strikingly handsome and as cool as I."

She rolled her eyes dramtically, and flicked her tail his way, "No silly, I meant that if I look will I run into another stallion like you? Somebody who could possibly interest me and yet still bore me with rocks at the same time?" She laughed as she shook her head, and her light laugh came harder when he remarked about himself. She looked him up and down obviously, pursing her lips in a playful manner.

"Oh really? You have any brothers?" She giggled and winked. Even if he were to get serious, it wouldn't scare her off. Not like she could run away from him, now could she? Cicely knew that eventually she could scare him off or make him uncomfortable... As long as he didn't ask to go for a walk, she was fine.

He seemed to be more like the "let's sit around and play with rocks" kind of guy anyway.

He bored her? Oh dear, oh dear...she had to be kidding right? The stallion knew he was deemed...boring, but he didn't want the said creature he was talking to, to admit that tiny fact. But Cicely did laugh with that comment, so she couldn't be serious. Playful fun, that's what it was.

"Perhaps." Ian stated, tossing the thought of someone like him in his mind before answering, "I don't believe any stallion bothers with stuff that interests me aren't they all out wooing mares?" That made him chuckle a bit, as his own father could care less about a sunset or a rock, or even a flower...he likes his ladies...and yet his son was completely opposite.

"Um, yes." Oops, wrong answer. He blinked and gave her a look that plainly said, 'don't go trying to go after them now.' Jamison and Connor were also completely different that Ian, at least they were as foals. The trio couldn't be any different now. Connor didn't talk, Ian was...serious and Jamison was well, goofy like Bliss.

"But they're not your type. See, I'm the only one in my family as buff, and as stallion-manly as you see before you. And they don't know the difference between two rocks...or snowflakes." He laughed, thinking about the two of them trying to decipher a difference. "So, see, I'm the only one of my kind."

A grin played cross the mare's lips as he responded. "Ah yes, perhaps. But you never go out and woo mares yourself? Perhaps you're trying to woo me now?" She bat her eyes playfully, trying to look at him from under her lashes in a flirtatious notion, "... And perhaps doing quite a successful job at it as well?" A giggle escaped her as she watched for his reaction. She was onl kidding... Despite the tug a her heat she had a feeling she'd get if he denied her move.

She rose her brows and rolled her eyes. Did he think he knew her that well as to know what her type was? Pursing her lips, Cicely flicked her tail in an annoyed manner, "Not my type? And are you trying to say you are?" It's not like she could say he wasn't - she didn't really know what her type was. Stallions flirted and left, none ever stayed. Ian was tall and nicely built, and those eyes... And he actually stayed longer than most other stallions!

'Stay focused!'

Kidding as she was it still made him feel funny that she talked that way. Something down in the pit of his stomach turned, and he couldn't help but grin like an foolish child. The stallion knew that Cicely hadn't meant the words and yet somehow he wished she had...

"I've never wooed a mare before, as I have never found a mare to my liking." He paused for a moment, his mind quickly battling with his heart in whether or not he should respond fully to her jokes. It was illogical and stupid to joke around about getting crushes or falling in love...but he wanted to. "But you, my dear, are different than the rest. If I am, as you say, successfully wooing you then good, I am happy."

There, that wasn't so bad was it? It wasn't as if he proclaimed a love, or even said anything remotely close to those three little words his parents never say to each other...but he hadn't wanted her to get upset if he just shrugged off the question altogether.

Oh, dear! NO! That's most definitely not what he meant! Ack! Ian stumbled around for a moment trying to collect himself as both his front legs lost their weight and slightly gave out upon hearing her next question. And she looked mad! Oh dear!

"Um, yeah, uh....no! I just assumed, and pardon me for this, but that you're not the type of mare to fall for the boy-ish charm of some stallions. You know, the ones who come in and act all devilishly innocent and fun, and sweep a mare off her hooves only to knock her up later..."

Ack, Bliss of course.
