No I shouldn't be happy they did. Michael Jackson sold it to Sony instead of back to the Beatles like it should have been. I'm allowed to not like Sony. You should respect that. I'm sick of you doing otherwise. It shouldn't matter to you if I hate Sony or not. I don't like them. So be it. It's pointless you getting pissed over it.

You're allowed to like whatever you want, but your reasons for hating Sony is ******** stupid. Sony is a great company. If you want to throw around the word "hate", you should actually have a reason to "hate" it. You hating Sony for the two or three stupid reasons... actually, let's call them weak excuses, makes you a closed minded gamer.

I'm not pissed at all. In fact, I'm literally laughing out loud at "i AM ALLOWED 2 HYATE SONY111", nay, this thread in its entirety.

You don't have to like my reasons. It shouldn't matter to you at all. You may feel the reasons are stupid but they are enough for me. I choose not to associate with/buy the other two companies' consoles as far as gaming goes. I don't like their brand of gaming. I have no regrets about it. Nor should I.

Why'd Michael Jackson sell it to Sony of all the music companies to sell it to? I'd sell it to EMI instead.

Maybe 'cause Sony is intelligent, decent, etc?

Don't hate on Sony.

The others aren't intelligent/decent? It was with EMI who the Beatles recorded for. It would make more for sense for them to own it wouldn't it?

I'm sick of you hating Sony for stupid reasons.

You act as if Sony killed your children and raped your wife.

You should be happy Beatles went to Sony.

Sony isn't the music's 4Kids after all. They care about their work.

Wak hates Sony because they're not Nintendo, which he loves. It's a trap that most gamers fall into. I hate Microsoft because I liked the balance that Sony and Nintendo struck back in the day, and M$ had no need or reason to enter the console market. I've only recently allowed myself to enjoy Xbox products, and I'd like to think that Wak will learn that he's allowed to enjoy games not made by Nintendo. But this is a process that we all go through at our own speed, and anger will only further alienate him.

Also, it kinda makes sense for him to be more excited about a version of Guitar Hero because of the music. Since that's what the game is essentially all about. The only reason I want to play Lost Oddyssey is because of the soundtrack. Music is a valid reason to like a game.

But I am also of the opinion that the only way you could not like Guitar Hero/Rock Band is if you haven't given it a chance.

Ha, I guess I just matured quickly when it came to videogames.

Then again, I've always played games.... not consoles or companies.

Maybe I was just never closed minded, and actually gave s**t a chance?

I'm not immature nor am I closed-minded. I just don't like their brand of gaming. Sue me for it.

For the record I don't dislike Sony and M$ because they aren't Nintendo. I don't like their brand of gaming.

I'm not saying you're right or wrong.

I'm just saying you're closed minded.

Like I said before, the only reason you don't like Sony or Microsoft is because "Nintendo" isn't slapped onto the box. There are many a Sony and Microsoft titles that you'd enjoy, and are just like the Nintendo ones you play, but you choose to be closed minded and shut yourself off from everything that doesn't have a certain name or logo on it.

You don't really know s**t about their brand of gaming, IMO.

Play before you judge.

Read my last post. Mainly the part that says

Possibly? I don't think it is a matter of maturity. I agree with you that obstinately restricting your own gaming experience is silly, but there's no accounting for taste. If someone allows themselves to hate something so much, then they could genuinely not be interested in playing something associated wtih what they hate. So now amount of coaxing is going to magically make them interested.

The key is to let the irrational hatred go, and that opens up all kinds of cool new gaming experiences that you can enjoy.

EXAMPLE: I hate Tom Clancy games, but I am still excited about EndWar, just because I want to experience something new, which that game has to offer. Another example would be Mass Effect. I'd be missing out if I didn't put away my hatred of Microsoft to play the game.

Maturity was the word that popped into my head. With age/maturity, you gain knowledge and "wisdom"... or in my case, common sense.

I realized pretty early on sucking the d**k of console A will REALLY limit experiences, fun, and entertainment I could equally share with console B, C, D, etc.

I don't think you could really use "taste" as a reason for being closed minded. All consoles make all kinds of games. It's not like Sony has the rights for a certain genre, Nintendo another, etc.

I agree with this assertion, and I doubt that anyone could really make a valid case against it. However, I posit that there has to be some level of interest in a game title before it can be enjoyed. So we're back to the "irrational hatred" thing.

Actually there are (Star Wars Battlefront, Dynasty Warriors, etc) Besides that I have no interest in other Sony or Microsoft games.

You guys are forgetting that I don't have to like Sony and Microsoft titles.

Playing a handful of titles doesn't really count, if you don't play the right ones.

Let me take a quote from you:

"I don't really like Online games... one time, I was over my cousin's house, and played Sims Online. I couldn't get into it...."

That's exactly like me playing all Mario Party games and said I can fairly dislike Mario because I played 8 of his games.

Or, saying I dislike Zelda because I didn't like Zelda II.

So yeah, really. rolleyes

Are you going to "hate" Sony because you played the wrong games? Are you going to be so closed minded just because you're afraid of stepping out of your comfort zone? Is your best Reason for hating Sony "I don't like them because they beat Nintendo the last two generations" even though it had no effect on your life whatsoever?

Really?

No one is saying that you have to. I think Ace is just trying to say that you would if you gave them a chance. Which of course you can't expressly deny, nor can he expressly confirm. Which is why this conversation has kept on.

And since I used to think EXACTLY like you (I refused to touch the PS1 when it was first released because it wasn't Nintendo) I am just throwing my two cents in because I believe my own experiences will be helpful to the conversation somehow.

I'm not forcing you to like anything.

I just find it silly to hate the companies you do for the reasons you do. It reminds me of a 5 year old hating vegetables because "they are green".

Seriously, Ken. You're 20 something. You should realize by now you're only hindering your likes if you're that closed minded.

Exactly.

Think about it Arvis. If Ken can like something like Dynasty Warriors (a HUGE copy-and-past-orgy-with repetitive-unfun-hack-and-slash-gameplay), theory would say he should like something else on the same system... something said company put their hearts, time, sweat, and blood into.

Another example of Ken hating Sony solely of the name is an example dealing Assassin's Creed.

He was so excited/happy about it at last year's E-3 when he was watching it with me. He lost interest when he found out it was a Sony/Microsoft exclusive.

On the reverse, he gets excited about everything to a fault if its Nintendo.

What hardcore gamer is excited about Wiifit?

Stop caring why I don't like them and the reasons why I don't. Perhaps I can be more willing to try out more games (You do hear me asking to try games of yours.)

Still, if I choose in the end not to have anything to do with the other console's games I shouldn't get criticized for it.

@Ace and Arvis_Jaggamar: I've played the PS1 as well. I enjoyed the games I played on it. I never wanted to buy it for myself. I played the PS2 and enjoyed the games I played on it (except for FF which I didn't like too much) but I never chose to own one for myself. Etc..

I enjoy playing the other consoles at other places but I don't want to own them myself.

I still want to play Assassin's Creed. I asked to play it.

Also I still want to play Assassin's Creed. I asked to play it. I just wasn't stoked enough to go out and buy a console for it.
