I think my birthday's on Thanksgiving again this year.
And last year Easter was in April, it usually is.

The very thing you strive for ...

Does Thanksgiving move around too? I thought it was always on the 20 something-th of November?

They're trying to get the papal council to fix a date for Easter. The last pope's council were all in favour of it, but this one is needing more convincing, or summat.
"Business people" are arguing that it'd be easier to set school terms, state holidays, etc.

Do ye get Good Friday off?

I dont think public schools here can have religious holidays off. So they give it a different name a couple weeks later. So instead of an Easter holiday, we get spring break. But my cousin goes to a Catholic school and they had it off.
Thanskgiving is the 3rd Thursday of November.

Oh 'sea, but isn't that semi-religious?
They're trying to do that whole segregation of church and state here too. About 90% of the schools here are religious, Catholic, Protestant, Presbyterian, etc.
They're trying to get the clergy off the school boards.

You mean Thanksgiving? That's not religious, except that the people that started it were Christians.
I found out you can get detention or suspended, one of the two, for bringing a bible to school. Thought that was a little over-the-top.

MADISON, Wis. — A Tomah High School student has filed a federal lawsuit alleging his art teacher censored his drawing because it featured a cross and a biblical reference.

The lawsuit alleges other students were allowed to draw "demonic" images and asks a judge to declare a class policy prohibiting religion in art unconstitutional.

According to the lawsuit, the student's art teacher asked his class in February to draw landscapes. The student, a senior identified in the lawsuit by the initials A.P., added a cross and the words "John 3:16 A sign of love" in his drawing.

Millin showed the student a policy for the class that prohibited any violence, blood, sexual connotations or religious beliefs in artwork. The lawsuit claims Millin told the boy he had signed away his constitutional rights when he signed the policy at the beginning of the semester.

The boy tore the policy up in front of Millin, who kicked him out of class. Later that day, assistant principal Cale Jackson told the boy his religious expression infringed on other students' rights.

Wow, that's so stupid. I'm not a Christian, but if I saw a painting somebody did in art class with a cross and bible reference in it it's not like my eyes would burn or something. Adding something like that isn't infringing anybody's rights and it's not going to force that boy's opinion on anybody unless they're really really pathetically impressionable.

The very thing you strive for ...

Is it just me, or are the public schools afraid of beliefs?
We have religion class twice a week. We talk about anything other than religion in those classes, though sometimes we have a prayer service, depending on the time of year and if someone really close to a pupil dies.

I have a friend that drew headstones in a graveyard, cross headstones, for her 2nd year poster and no one batted and eyelid.

Thanks for the odd info there Prince.

I don't think our colleges technically call it Easter Break either. I have yet to find out though.

It is time to open a can of worms that everyone seems to be fiddle-faddling around.

So Here goes nothing.

Its Called Politically Correctness Eires, and the United States is stricken with it.

You see there are key proponents of this political correctness that there are a bunch of loud mouths, that believe they are superior than everyone else. And, because they are so superior they think it is their role in the country to deem what is offensive and what isn't.

And they Base it around their own very beliefs, and nothing else.

What they Fail to realize is that it is impossible to live your life without being offended at something. Violence, foul language, pornography, sex, religion, whatever it is, you're bound to be offended by it sooner or later. So rather than bitching about it, just deal with it and move on.

Before anyone goes 'YEAH D00D IT IS TOTALLY DEM CHRISTIANS MAN' Sure, they have their fair share of crying foul, but you fail to realize that they aren't the only ones with their fingers in the pot.

Before anyone says that I know plenty of atheists, pagans, etc. that cry foul on everything as much as the person who claims Christians are the ones who are in charge of being politically correct on everything, which it is really split 50/50 in reality.

But, not all Christians are like this, I as Christian, you see am very thick skinned (it shows, because I am a Fat a**), and I'll hit harder than you will hit me.

You see I am a Christian and I understand the scripture better than most people, and Jesus said to 'turn the other cheek', and that is what I do. He also said something along the lines that, 'people do not like myself, so what makes the follower (a Christian) think he/she will be treated any better?'
So I understand that there are going to be jerks on this earth, and it isn't going to phase me that there are jerks in the world. In other words it will not be some ******** shocking revelation to me that there are jerks in this very small close-minded world of ours.

Besides if I am offended I either turn it off, or I watch the whole thing and think of something to retort with statements I find to be bullshit.

I've heard about the whole political correctness thing. We have it here with Travellers and the Polish (foreign nationals).
I've been skulking around the LD for a while, and I find that your Christians seem to be a lot more extremist in their beliefs than they are over here (excluding the North).
I mean, there are some people in there that would stick their finger into your eye telling you to believe in God and here no one cares.

My next door neighbour said that no one cared about religion except for the Baptists and they were front row centre every Sunday morning (her words, not mine).

Ayuh. There's some pretty religious people over here. But I figured it was like that anywhere that's got any sort of religious people in the area.
Yea, Baptists. All the Baptists I know of that actually informed me they're Baptists are really big on letting everybody know. Like they did with me. Yea. Nothing wrong with that until they get obnoxious, but it's like that with anybody that does/has/believes something they care about.

I do not fully agree with the teachings of Baptists, because they preach fear, and the point of organized religion is to celebrate with your fellow man, and support one another, and love one another. But, preach fear to someone is not would Jesus would want, and that's what I believe.

I don't really know that much about them, except that they tend to be pretty enthusiastic about their religion.
Which branch/branches of Christianity dont let you dance and all that?
